  1. But with Cashin that was one game, and after he had played well at Hull. The question is, what is Jorgensen about? What are his strengths?
  2. There are big question marks over Bilic. But hes a far better bet that some of the other dross who seem heavily linked.
  3. Obviously the important thing was the victory. But it was an almost certainty considering that Sheffield Wednesday are not a competitive team, hence this being their 8th successive defeat without a goal. They needed something off the bench and could only bring on random kids. But performance wise, I thought we were really poor and overall it was a dismal night of football on the eye. The team selection was strange, whether it was Johnson, Gestede or a team already selected and prepared for by Ismael. Also thought he took too long with subs. De Neve is clearly not a footballer, and was obviously a waste of time. Jorgensen looks really poor too, offers nothing. Really weak, slow, and when given half a chance comes up short. Cantwell was absolutely dreadful, did very well to last the full game. Baradji is a strange player, at times doing really good things, at times being a liability. Tronstad was by far our best player, should have been man of the match. Good to see Carter do an hour, signs of rust but he starts in our best team if only he wasnt made of glass. Cashin again did well. Also, our set piece coach needs binning.
  4. That team does whiff of Gestede. Be fine tonight though.
  5. We havent played 352 in the last 2 games. We also dont have the privelidge of not playing loanees as they arent ours. Tyjon is leaving at the same time.
  6. They should be doing it as fast as they can. That doesnt mean panicking and getting someone crap. They shouldnt speed up/slow down based on each passing result. Getting a new competent manager should be the pressing priority. I dont trust them but that is what they should be doing.
  7. Cashin has been our best player in the last 2 games. And why is Tyjon suddenly starting, and Atcheson back in your team?
  8. The speed of the process shouldnt be altered depending on tonights result. Especially considering that Sheffield Wednesday are an anomoly in this league, they are nowhere near the standard and lose to nil repeatedly so beating them is strongly expected. Time is not on our side, games are ticking by. We need to make the decision as quickly and as efficiently as is reasonably possible, without rushing. Assuming the sacking was coming they should have already known who they wanted but this is Rovers. We had this with Lowe. We won 2 initially so we dallied and then all of a sudden we got battered at Swansea and it seemingly caused a rush. You cant just base this decision game by game based on each result. The urgency shouldnt vary dependant onln each result. Of course everyone wishes Johnson the best but they would wish any manager of our club well in getting us good results. I have no idea if he will, purely speculative. If he does want to get involved, he holds more power than Johnson so I suspect he would get his way.
  9. Do we think Gestede will at least be giving his opinion on who to pick?
  10. I think Waggott also lined up Eustace on the same day that Tomasson went, to be fair.
  11. Obviously the alternative shouldnt be Chris Coleman. And it doesnt need to be Chris Coleman. I am saying to appoint an actual credible manager.
  12. If he gets to 6 games then something has gone horribly wrong in getting a new manager. There should be a focus on getting someone in ASAP, no time for wait and see. We cant go game by game reacting to each result in isolation and as soon as one or two goes wrong then rushing around. Ideally, someone by the weekend.
  13. I never said on here. I presumed you meant in the ground. Why does it matter what random fans put on a messageboard? No manager will be universally approved of on here. As long as people are willing to change depending on results either way thats fine. I am not the only one who wouldnt be happy with Johnson. Like with anyone, I would still change if we then got good results.
  14. They didnt. We had a really poor window. They didnt have a better one though. They lost Bannan, Amass and Cadamarteri. Redmond's contract expired. Horvath's contract expired. The others are just a case of scrambling together random journeymen and kids to make up the numbers somewhat.
  15. When he was appointed, yes. When he lost game after game straight away and took us out of the play offs, maybe not although at no point did he get noticeable stick. Some people would be annoyed that the cheap option of Johnson as opposed to an actual manager. He wouldnt avoid detractors just because hes "one of our own." Any anger is not aimed at the manager anyway. Its not going to create a harmonious atmosphere keeping Johnson.
  16. I know obviously the players have to take it seriously, avoid complacency etc. But speaking as a fan whose opinion has no impact. Tonight even with our form and with our inadequacies really should be a very comfortable home win. Its not a game we go into as slight favourite, its against a team thats nowhere near Championship standard, and that barely has any players left. They have played 29, lost 20 and won 1. Even from one side of January to the other, a month of 7 losses to nil for Wednesday, they are much weaker. They have lost Amass, Bannan and Cadamarteri. They signed a couple of questionable players last night that arent registered in time. I wonder if Johnson has full autocracy over team selection? Wouldnt be suprised if Gestede has a say.
  17. Chris Coleman as mentioned as the favourite on the last page would be a laughable appointment. Wonder if he would bring his old assistant from his Fulham days. Steve Kean.
  18. I said hopefully. I dont know. I only really commented on the people I have seen mentioned, I havent looked into who might be available. And with these owners and this board, I dont have hope.
  19. People will get behind anyone getting decent results, and anyone being appointed with a fresh start. This idea that Johnson would specifically get people unified, I dont get.
  20. Tomasson would never come back here. I feel like as a manager, he isnt suited to a dogfight anyway, although in terms of the likely "alternatives" he is a much better proposition. He seemed to struggle at times last time with big personalities, at least that isnt a problem anymore. Hughes is only mentioned because he used to manage us 20 years ago. Would be a shocking appointment, last 2 jobs at Bradford and Carlisle where he is currently not excelling in non league. Gerrard isnt a good manager, that would be just based on name. People like Rowett, Wagner, Cifuentes and Bilic fall into the category of underwhelming but all probably have some merit to them. People like Chris Coleman, Karanka and Lee Bowyer fall into desperate options we can fear but would really sum the club up. Stay away. Hopefully there are more credible alternatives not initially mentioned. Whether we could get them is another question. And forget giving it to Johnson. The focus should be on getting the best manager as soon as possible, if he wins 1 or 2 in the meantime (tomorrow should be a certainty, Sheffield Wednesday are not competitive) then fantastic. This idea of appeasing the fan base too. The fan base is already fractured and toxic regardless of the manager. But we all give a manager a chance and ultimately you win (most) people over with good results, not big names, who you played for or whether youve been here before.
  21. I remember saying many times why this head coach nonsense in modern football is counter productive. Players picked by people unqualified to do so and given to the head coach rather than letting him have sole autonomy to decide who he wants and doesnt want. We are an extreme and particularly dysfunctional case obviously, but every February we are left looking for a new manager and with a squad not fit for purpose.
  22. Youve done well to bring Mowbray into it. Duff wouldnt be mentioned if he didnt play for us. And Johnson shouldnt be given the job. We need someone with some sort of decent track record.
  23. Obviously in isolation (overall its not the important thing) its fantastic to see a terrible manager leave. Mind you, I am not convinced it was purely the clubs decision. Hence mutual termination. Even someone who seemed so "aligned" presumably has had enough of the shit players thrown his way. Under no circumstances should we give it to Johnson until the end of the season, even if he wins a game or 2.
  24. Another disaster of a January window that leaves us ill equipped for a relegation fight. Especially in forward areas. This weird obsession with prioritising players who play 2 formations has actually left us short whichever way we play. Yet still with players who will be embarassingly deregistered. The squad is bloated yet inadequate. Cashin has looked useful in the last 2 games but we didnt need a short left footer who can play left back. Jorgensen has looked poor so far and Afolayan hasnt played in ages. They will hope that the Ismael news covers it up but it shouldnt.
