He has never scored more than 2 goals in a single season. Any screamers were very much the exception so are a strange area to focus on. I think Travis was a good player and has been missed but he isnt this all rounder you suggest. He cannot protect the defence or read the game as well as Tronstad and isnt as good on the ball. Travis was more athletic and got about the pitch more although he isnt the same type of player. You suggest that the stats back you up, what stats? Tronstad does a very specific role, he sits in front of the defence, he keeps the play ticking, he reads the game really well and he is essentially the glue in our team. We play much better and do better when he plays. 2 players of a similar style (obviously elite players) are Busquets and Makelele, neither ran all over the pitch and neither made it to 20 career goals. Did they hold their teams back as limited and peripheral players? -

If we were stupid enough to repeat the mistake of putting any reliance on Carter and Wharton then we deserve the inevitable spell of being short that will occur. We are short not only of regularly available numbers but of quality and balance. We need someone to slot into the middle of the back 3, essentially (I know we played a different formation, but in terms of quality) a massively overdue Hyam replacement. -

Im not twisting anything. Youve dominated the thread doing everything you can to deflect and divert blame away from the club. I also find your consistent desire to know whether I am attending every game when its totally irrelevant to be a little strange. But no, I am not going. -

But how is it relevant to us? We wouldnt be signing Kyogo. Dykes is behind him, Duksch and Stansfield in the pecking order. If you are using a failed signing who has scored 0 goals as a benchmark to prove that an alternative is good, then that would be incredibly low standards. My opinion on Dykes spans across a career of an inability to score many goals. We were linked a couple of years ago (was more Nixon bullshit) and I was against it then. He hasnt done anything since to change my mind. -

Because I have seen it happen time and time again. And like many, I feel like I have enough historical evidence to predict the most likely outcome of the upcoming transfer window. If you choose to keep your head in the sand and refuse to predict, thats fine, but theres no reason to try and stop me from sharing my opinion. If you dont see any point predicting, fine, just scroll past. Unsure as to why you are so fixated on a random signing from another Championship club, yes Kyogo has been a crap signing, youve mentioned it a few times with little context or links to current discussion. Dykes has not scored many goals across his entire career. -

Its a starter that we need, to play in the middle, after losing Hyam. We would then have McLaughlin and Pratt on the left, someone new in the centre, Miller on the right with O'Riordan covering and pushig them both. Which would at least give us more quality and balance. -

"We dont know" who was at fault according to chaddy. Wonder if one of our fans ringing their ticket office and the subsequent tone of the reply will show who was at fault. Probably not. -

Gudjohnsen and Dykes might play in similar areas but the main difference is the most important. Gudjohnsen seems to have a knack of scoring goals. Dykes certainly doesnt. I am not in a position to find and know enough about my own transfer suggestions. But I do know Lyndon Dykes enough to know that hes a bit of a donkey. I think Hardie as a suggestion has more merit to it. Mind you, its a pretty depressing thought that the 4th/5th/6th choice strikers at promoted teams are almost certainly unobtainable (certainly without wage contributions) to us, a side who finished 7th last season. We need 2 strikers. I cant say I have any confidence in us getting 2, in us getting anyone good or in us getting anyone in proactively. -

Does Gudjohnsen just play a "focus point role?" His main job is to score goals. Dykes might have played a lot in the league but he has never really learnt how to score very often in it. And thanks for your further patronising comments regarding our well structured and harmonious transfer committee. -

I prefer to say what I think we need rather than what I think may happen. Pickering is well down the list of players I would be keen to move on. Lyndon Dykes? Ideal? And also, you correct me a week ago by going on about this lovely committee we have that decides on signings when I criticised Gestede. Now its down just to him. -

Good result today, and great character shown to grind out a good point. Tronstad again excellent, and Cantwell was also good. The 2 real bits of quality (Alebiosu also falls into this category) who could easily slot into a top 6 chasing side and they stand out in our team. Pratt I think again was really good. Still clearly need to sign a Hyam replacement, but Miller and McLaughlin both did well today. Baradji also showed a lot of promise when he came on, surely he needs to start on Monday. Going forward I thought we was really blunt as I expected. Ohashi is a good partner for a striker who offers more of a goal threat but isnt ever going to be prolific and Henriksson clearly isnt the answer. We need 2 strikers ASAP. The threadbare squad is a real concern and needs to be sorted. -

Do you think Waggott individually went rogue and specifically wanted Dennis? And had total autonomy 6 months before he had totally been edged out of the club? -

The January 2026 Transfer Window

Its one thing shifting someone who is absolute crap like Gueye. Someone might have a shocker from a recruitment perspective and sign an absolutely terrible striker. Clubs do, we did. Its another shifting someone like Carter who cannot stay fit for a week of training without breaking down. His history and presumably his medical would flag the fact that his ability is an irrelevance because he cannot sustain his body to play professional football. And I am not advocating keeping players and then not registering them. I think we have a number who we actively should be trying to get shut of ASAP. What I am saying is we should say to them early, you dont have a future here. I think we need more than 3 or 4 as I have previously mentioned. That being said, I am not convinced that we will get that many, and assuming we do, I certainly have no reason to think that they will either have the required quality or be signed really early in the window (we have heard what Ismael has said so many times) which we desperately need, as proven by how weak our squad is currently looking. Im guessing that you trust Gestede and also think we will get some quality in at the start of the window. -

Who would in their right mind take Carter? Wouldnt trust Rudy to run a bath. We need to be clear with the unwanted crap. If you stay, you might not be registered. Best if you go. If they stay and sit on their contract, fine, but we have communicated that in advance. -

You definitely did not suggest in the summer that your expectation was survival and build. And yes, I was against signing a player who wouldnt be fit enough to start for half a season. Doom and gloom comments? Yes, believe it or not, such a drastic drop in league position so soon does tend to do that. You try and consistently parrot what comes out of the club as if its all part of a good plan. Just a couple of poor signings, like Ferguson used to make. -
And will everyone be welcome there? Which Saudi Arabia and Qatar fail and the USA also fails.

The January 2026 Transfer Window
roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
You keep saying that all teams have poor signings. The only way that would be a valid counter argument is if I said that I expect all of our signings to work out. I obviously dont. What the success or failure comes down to is how many signings are good, how many are poor, how good and poor they are, how well the squad is balanced, and how the team does compared to previous seasons and expectations. We have numerous signings who arent just poor, they are terrible. One in Alebiosu has been an excellent signing. Another in Gudjohnsen has been very good. 3 others have been ok, one hasnt started a game yet and one or two others are a bit below par. The squads massively imbalanced and we are is it 13 places lower in the table. You are making out like every team has an equal amount of successes and failures and its just one of those things. Thats not a case of shrugging and going, well even Ferguson and Mourinho didnt get it right all of the time. Its obviously not comparable to that. And on Baradji. This isnt me having it in for him. He has shown promise in a couple of cameos. But how you can possibly even suggest that hes towards the successful end is ridiculous when he literally hasnt started a game yet. -

You think McLaughlin this season is equal to Batth of last season? Really? -
The January 2026 Transfer Window
roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The point I made was nothing to do with signing Sanderson. It was that discussing whether we have got better or worse would be based on the players we had last season, not how they have done since. How can you possibly say already that Baradji looks like he will be a good signing. Its Christmas, and he hasnt started a game. You are quick to shoot down people for what you perceive to be writing off players when its the other way around, even half a season in having started games. Its flippant to say that all clubs have signings that wont work out. Most clubs dont have windows with as many total duds, with as many holes in their squad and with as drastic a drop in results. -

roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The Batth of this season is irrelevant. Its the one we had last season which determines whether any replacement is an upgrade or a downgrade. Equally, Sanderson barely played for us last season and when he did he was not very good. For Derby he has done well and is ahead of Batth. But it doesnt mean he left a big hole here. -

roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I would say that Henriksson as a D is very generous, hasnt offered any signs of being near the level required similar to Tavares and De Neve. McLoughlin and Miller I would also have as a C. I think both are noticeable downgrades. Miroshita would also be a C even though I like him as a player. I think as touched on, judging individually on the players doesnt paint a full picture on how imbalanced and thin the squad is. Overall the summer window was an E or an F. The league table somewhat reflects that. Ismael certainly would be lower than a C too. -
The January 2026 Transfer Window
roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Maybe 1 would be enough. But you keep saying thats enough in terms of numbers in a list. Is there enough quality in those options? I would suggest not but we clearly have different standards on quality needed. Ive listed loads of players that I would happily ship out. I named 6 players currently registered that are of no use to us. We IMO need 2 centre backs, a right wing back and 2 strikers minimum, so in theory, we wouldnt need to deregister Carter if the window went as planned. But if it came to it, then yes, deregister him because hes no use if he cant even get through a week of training. You say potentially sell him, who on earth is buying him with that injury record? Wharton is a bit different, he at least at times can sustain himself for a run of games so I would certainly register him. Why are you happy to write off De Neve 6 months in but not Tavares or Henriksson? -
The January 2026 Transfer Window
roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They definitely wont sign more than 1, if even they do that. But whats the point in naming Carter? Its clear that he cant even be relied on as a squad player. And Wharton isnt back until February and although his injuries tend to be more serious rather than continious muscle injuries, he cant be relied upon. Normally 3 from 6 or 7 would be fine, even if the quality there which it isnt IMO. But when 2 of them are Wharton and Carter, its not enough. They are not serious options. It would become 3 from 2 new signings, O'Riordan who is far from proven, Pratt who has only just emerged, and McLoughlin and Miller who are nothing special. -

I dont fail to understand. Just because I dont agree with you, it doesnt mean that I just have no understanding of the rules. For me, its not just about listing players which you repeatedly do. If there are 3 positions up for grabs, as far as you are concerned, if you can name 6 or more players who can play those positions, whether they are good enough, whether theyve proven themselves yet, whether they are constantly injured, it doesnt seem to matter to you. I am bothered about quality. I dont think we have enough. And how is signing first team quality players "wasting money?" We have so many players in the squad who are nowhere near the standard. Gueye, De Neve, Henriksson, Tavares, Kargbo. Conversations can be had, give them time unlike the disgraceful way we treated Sigurdsson. Say theres a big chance that you wont be registered if you stay, things havent worked out, you arent part of the plans going forward. Ribeiro I think a similar conversation because he no longer has a place in the formation. With Carter, hes a waste of a space to be honest. This wont happen by the way, we will end the window still full of crap in the squad. But it needs to happen.
