Not the most pressing matter but how bad is Lewis Miller on the ball? He is like this every game so cant blame the weather, spooning every ball including the most pathetic free kick I think ive ever seen. I didnt think our performance for an hour was particularly good but the conditions made that very difficult. Miroshita though was the one looking to always make something happen. Forshaw was good but an injury to him seemed inevitable and was for nothing.

Good post and well done for not doubling down. Last time it was that it should have carried on, it was just a bit of rain, the referee was wrong, it was McKenna's fault etc. All along its been the fault of the owners. The reaction when the ref stopped the game was anger towards the owners and rightly so.

Absolutely shameful and embarassing. All comes back to the owners not funding that full pitch revamp. Dont allow for or get sucked in by the nonsense. Referees, opppsition managers, rainfall miles higher specifically in Blackburn, how its not our fault. It is 100% our fault. Its on the owners. Last time they were struggling to find precedent on how to finish the game. This time, we have some from the same Championship ground a couple of months ago.

There would be a game before any of those due to the ridiculous tournament size.

It also relies on those other teams topping their groups, and then theres a round of 32 which will have plenty of crap in there too. In the past weve been fortunate with results in other groups.

What would he offer at 5 a side? Its that point in the season where every team will keep picking up injuries. Ours are only amplified by having injury prone players in some cases, and because we are overreliant on too small a pool of players because the alternatives are so bad.

Hedges is out for a couple of weeks which presumably will turn into over a month as tends to happen now. Under no circumstances should he bring in the useless De Neve.

Why would it require talks if he has a pre agreed fee in his contract? Im not convinced by him. Very average and wouldnt be rushing to sign him permanently.

Exactly. The quality will be massively reduced now there are 48 teams and most of the jeopardy is removed in the group stages now most 3rd place teams go through. Making the top 4 seeded teams is also a stupid decision. Thats before you even consider non footballing issues.

I acknowledged that the referee made a mistake and it was frustrating. But we went into injury time with a lead anyway and again threw it away. It doesnt surprise me to see you parrot the manager and just brush our own repeated failings under the carpet. A culture of excuses. If you are watching De Neve coming on and are not seeing how out of his depth he looks then you are seemingly watching a different player than the majority.

I was pissed off. Im sick of seeing our sub par team throw away points. You blamed it all on the referee and brushed over the tendency that this team and this thin group of players and poor manager have of conceding late. I didnt say that Baradji is a horrendous player. But hes not been a very useful sub, hopefully because (in December, predictably) hes still not fit. Yes, De Neve in particular was awful again, he shouldnt keep bringing him on, and Baradji and Tavares were downgrades too. Obviously Gueye who again he keeps bringing on is like De Neve playing a number of levels above his natural level.

I am surprised that anyone thinks it should have been anything other than a red. But it didnt cost us the game, thats the key. We held a 1 nil lead going into injury time, again. We might have not had that lead in a totally different game against 10, we might have had a stronger lead, we will never know. The game was thrown away by us, not the referee.

Its fine to have a whinge about the clear mistake surrounding the red card. To come out with a pre prepared list of refereeing mistakes across the season in the immediate aftermath of the game, imply a lack of integrity and a bias for whatever reason to Ipswich, that is unnecessary.

He can't do anything right on a football pitch. Thats the issue. He isn't being scapegoated. People are just sick of seeing an incompetent and lazy player come on and offer nothing. He is terrible.

To varying degrees. Alebiosu has been consistently very good. Gudjohnsen might not offer much in general play but strikers need to score goals and he keeps getting them, another success. The others are much more mixed. Morishita flits in and out, has ability but often ineffective. McLoughlin is average. Miller can be decent but has a mistake in him and is poor on the ball. TGH, barely average. Forshaw has done well in the last 2 although last night only lasted 55 minutes and youd be hard pushed to suggest hes been a success overall. The thing is, we have signed far too many who are not only underwhelming, they are absolutely nowhere near it. A squad cant afford to have so many players signed that are as bad as some of ours are. You often resort to suggesting that people are negative out of desperation. I can say that there were elements of our performance that were good last night. Contrary to your suggestion on the Ismael thread, I was also very annoyed to see only a yellow card shown when I think it had to be a red card. Im not going to parrot Ismael and imply that referees favour Ipswich, thats conspiracy nonsense. And I dont think Ohashi should have had a penalty, as much as I would have taken it. But we were hard done by with the missed red card, it was poor officiating. There isnt going to be a sudden influx of brilliant referees, the only realistic solution to such situations would be VAR. All of that to me is outweighed by the annoyance I felt coming away having seen us chuck away 2 points, conceding late AGAIN, watching the same horrendous subs (obviously not Cantwell) look out of their depth. Red card or no red card, we had the lead going into injury time, and under our control, we managed to fuck it up. You like Ismael seem keen to gloss over that completely and pin all of the blame on the referee, going down the woe is me route. We still had the win in our hands and threw it away. Again. Thats the concern to me, and thats the route of most of my annoyance.

They probably need VAR because you arent going to get a sudden improvement in referee quality. But we need to look closer to home at why we keep throwing away points. Its a club now built on excuses. Hard done by with the potential red card? Yes. (Although not having the Ohashi penalty shout or a corner/goal kick decision at the other end of the pitch) But I am more concerned and focused on our own problems and so should Ismael be. Ribeiro would have made more sense. De Neve is like a few of the Rudy signings absolutely woeful. If Ismael genuinely wanted some of these players then that is especially worrying.

But we continue to show an inability to avoid conceding late goals and a number of the signings brought in by Gestede and endorsed by Ismael are coming on and really causing us problems because they are nowhere near the level. Supposedly "deserving" 3 points and not getting 3 points is not a good sign.

Those accounts wont reflect anything post this summer where we jettisoned so many experienced players and replaced with cheap crap from inferior leagues.
