Its astounding how many people you run through before getting onto the real problem. Including our assistant manager from 2 years ago. And even when you do get to them, its the issues surrounding them as if its not their fault. -
A man who managed us 2 seasons ago still gets more blame from you than the source of all of the issues we have faced across a horrible 13 years. The owners will probably do their usual routine of refusing offers when he had a year to go (an option) like they did with Brereton and Rothwell pissing money away.
-
Doesnt matter what he says. Can have all the grand plans he wants, the real issue ie the owners will keep it all as they have no interest in improving the club and that is the issue.
-
A total idiot yet not the main issue by any means. Venkys out.

Lots of blame towards the ref including from no excuses Eustace. They could have had a penalty and Brittain sent off after 5 minutes. -
Unique?

Has anyone ever failed to win their first 9 (10 including the cup) games as Rovers manager? 6 points in 9 games and 0 wins is laughably bad. Set pieces are supposed to be an area of expertise, they are as bad as ever. Not a clue what the attacking plan is but its not working. The squad is a mess and the players and manager are the perfect embodiment of what the owners have done to us. Cuts, cuts and more cuts. -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach

Good attacking football, solid defensively and scoring from set pieces? Not sure Eustace has got that memo yet. Wharton isnt the first to slate Tomasson and is seemingly another made up that he has gone. We could probably do with actually winning a game under the new manager before hearing another player spout hot air about how glad they are of the change. -

I get why people would suggest that Broughton has had to work in very difficult circumstances. But I dont see how anyone could say that he has done an excellent job.

You cant read much into the game but Mainoo moreso off his United form in competitive games is clearly very talented and when beside Rice we are so poor in that deeper area with Gallagher, Henderson and Phillips nowhere near the standard required, he has to not only be in the squad but competing with Trent for a start. The defence is a huge concern, Dunk is nowhere near it, nor is Chilwell and nor is Maguire when fit. Pickford is not this mythical 100% reliable keeper for England either. I dont think any of the likes of Toney, Watkins, Gordon or Bowen are anywhere near certain of a place. I feel like in attack we have plenty of good Premier League players but a level or two below the main 4 of Saka, Foden, Bellingham and Kane. They have to stay fit. Belgium seem to have been written off post "golden generation" but they could do well with such a threat in attack. Not sure they will have a chance of winning it but they could go far. Germany with players like Wirtz and Musiala could thrive as the home team too.

Such a pointless set of friendlies and both Stones and Walker have picked up injuries.

You mean Venkys. -
Sigurdsson is one I would happily let go.

The majority of our team is certainly individually a top level team. And im not sure how much credit Southgate deserves for that.
-
I wonder if its a case of the club refusing to release something official or them agreeing to use a third party who will not ask the pressing questions, for example whether we genuinely will try again for McGuire. Either way, it further opens our eyes to the clear lack of people working together and the lack of autonomy below the owners. Plenty of uncertainty as to mere suggestions as to what happens next. Just a mess as we all knew.
-
We often mention the imbalances in previous teams but I suppose the current team has them, one top centre back and then an absence of quality beyond that. The same in central midfield and issues at left back too. Those issues are heightened by the selections that Southgate does make. Even amidst average alternatives, Maguire and Henderson/Gallagher are still really poor choices.

Rovers Rumours & Speculation
roversfan99 replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
These online sites just probably get their wage guesses from football manager. No way did we have 20k a week to offer to anyone. -
I dont think people are overreacting to the friendly, numerous people have commented on how the current set of friendlies are totally unnecessary. Southgate has a poor record in general against big nations. That and too much loyalty towards underperforming players in our weak positions perhaps show he is anything but a quality manager. Lets hope United are stupid enough to take him.
-
Broughton and Mowbray in particular would have both benefitted significantly financially and in terms of their CVs with promotion.
-
The thing with the current squad aswell is that we have Bellingham, Foden, Saka, Kane, Stones, Walker and Rice, those 7 are the ones (especially the front 4) that has us down as favourites to win tournaments. But then beyond that, theres a massive drop and we are weak in a number of positions. In midfield besides Rice, its either convert a RB in Trent, play a young player in Mainoo who has barely played any football or what Southgate will do, stick with a player in Henderson who is long past it or someone like Phillips or Gallagher who are clearly absolutely nowhere near the standard of challenging for tournaments. At centre back, beside Stones there is a huge drop off again. Maguire, Dunk, Konsa, none of these again are of the level to challenge. And at left back, it will either be go with a rusty Shaw and rush him back which never works, go with the useless Chilwell or stick someone out of position. Even with some world class players doing heavy lifting, im not sure you can have 3 players that arent up to standard. And thats before you consider the manager.
-
This whole international window is totally pointless, no one really wants to be there and you have players at the business end of the season at club level risking injury for no reason. Not really much will be learnt. If we go into games with the best playing Chilwell, Gallagher and Maguire, we will struggle to win.

Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?
roversfan99 replied to BRFC4EVA's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Szmodics missed his penalties v Rotherham and in the Newcastle shootout. -
A competent interviewer would have asked if the McGuire signing would be revisited, especially as that was promised. We know it wont be but no grilling on it either.
