  1. Had we let them go for free then maybe, but either way, them staying was not through the owners desperation to get back into the Championship.
  2. As if the owners were desperate to "facilitate a quick return" last time. Many of the players we had were senior and would have hardly had teams queueing around the block for them, many a relegation of a season after joining on frees 12 months prior. Seemed quite happy to pay them? They had little choice although when the owners have been praised for "pumping £20m in every year" then I suppose again merely paying the bills and offsetting the losses their business made, both which are not optional if the business is to continue, warrant praise and can be turned into some warped sense of ambition.
  3. Not sure that either of those things are true. Markanday's decision making is terrible, even in his cameo today his decisions at least twice in the final third ruined promising attacks.
  4. I understand players being judged as a success or otherwise factoring in the cost, its a very valid thing to factor in. And overall, I think youd struggle to justify claiming that he was worth even close to £5m. He was really poor today, had to soldier on for the last half hour carrying an injury but like many others, he was rubbish. But he certainly isnt one of the worst players to play for us as Revidge claimed, and he doesnt deserve to be coupled in with much of the dross that would categorize him with. Hes a bang average striker at this level who is inconsistent and has his limitations. But he has also contributed and put in some good performances with some good contributions since he came back. Over the years he has been frustrating but he has always contributed each year without ever coming close to threatening the top scorer charts. We have signed some dross over the years for big money who havent contributed close to what Gallagher as, and in the Venkys cost cutting reign we have signed some cheap rubbish that arent a patch on him. Says a lot that we are still so reliant on him.
  5. We have played Birmingham, Cardiff, Swansea, Preston and Norwich under him and have not won any. Some fight.
  6. He must have done something to you personally if you genuinely think that.
  7. Hes no more use to us than Telalovic? Than Markanday? Moran? Ayari? Koumetio? Sigurdsson? Garrett? Both keepers? And theres a lot of players who he is at least equally effective as, Dolan, Hedges, Scott Wharton, Hyam, Buckley etc, all players are average at this level, effective at times but inconsistent, supplemented by some of the dross I mentioned. We held on to him because we need him. We needed another on top of him, but the owners refused to authorise a deal for a new striker at a fraction of the Wharton money.
  8. There have been 5 league games under him, he obviously shouldnt and wont be sacked. Even if he has stunk the place out so far.
  9. I know he was poor today but we had to carry on with him clearly not fit due to lack of alternatives. But your agenda towards Gallagher is bizarre. He is bang average, but there are at least 10 players in this squad alone that are worse, he clearly isnt one of the worst players to have ever pulled on the shirt. The owners that again seem to have been swerved in terms of blame have cut the budget to the extent that Gallagher is actually quite useful compared to some of the players weve had to beg steal and borrow for.
  10. Not good enough yet again. Pathetic, limp performance and you would not fancy us to show the character or quality to survive now. The main issue (in terms of on the pitch) is just the conveyor belt of players that arent good enough that keep featuring. Moran, Ayari, Sigurdsson, Markanday etc, some may have shown glimmers against Newcastle but they arent up to it and one performance cant hide that. This is down to the owners, the budget cuts will always lead to these struggles. Its a poor squad but not a 2 win in 17 at this level squad. Tomasson's stubbornness in playing an ill suited style wasnt helping. Hes gone but Eustace has stunk the place out in these early days, 3 points from 5 is shocking and he just does not come across as a leader youd want to play for. I keep hearing how Eustace has at least sorted out the defence out and gone back to basics. Doesnt look that secure to me and ive no idea what the intention is going forward but ive never seen such a lack of coordination in our final third.
  11. Buckley, Moran, Dolan, McFadzean and Gallagher played between 45 and 70 minutes. Pickering didnt play a minute. Pears cant blame tiredness on chucking one in. Not really sure this boastful post is quite on the money, weve been playing like this for months.
  12. Some manager bounce from Eustace. Will this be 6 games and 0 wins?
  13. Id be wary of getting too confident in the strength in depth just yet. Koumetio looked an absolute liability, wouldnt have any confidence in him. Markanday was very good on Tuesday but hes been here a while and flattered to deceive up until then, need to see more. Ayari has also looked poor both here and struggled at Coventry.
  14. A draw wouldnt be the end of the world but we have yet to win under Eustace and we cant allow that to continue.
  15. On the same leg that he had already broken twice causing him to miss the majority of the last year or two.
  16. He played in the under 21s. They lost 6-2.
  17. He managed a full 45 minutes if I remember rightly.
  18. I would have Leeds down as the best squad personally and Leicester above Southampton.
  19. Another place in which you have contacts! They may well dislike him, he is easy to dislike, but hadnt they gone unbeaten in 20 odd games prior to this hiccup?
  20. Really important to try and get a win here. For all the justified praise from midweek, Eustace still has yet to win a game for us where he has been officially in charge.
  21. Or doesnt it show that people can make predictions and judgements even within the first season after a player has joined, as long as if they are proven somewhat wrong, then they have the flexibility to change their opinion should performance dictate. The problem would be if people double downed against evidence and stuck to it. You would never dampen down people saying a player looks good quickly after arrival. For some reason, if people dont like the look of a player early doors or dont think hes good enough, they should withhold that opinion though.
  22. Don't like the angle of implying that hes had a hard time from the supporters and thats what has stopped him in his tracks, he has been supported like everyone. Also cant agree that it was right to play him over Kaminski, Kaminski is a Premier League keeper and a big upgrade on Pears. Pears had a really poor run of form earlier in the season with a number of mistakes but since his return, his performances have been beyond merely being better than the bombscare that is Wahlstedt. Last night he was brilliant and lets hope he can continue to impress.
  23. So no lamenting the performance whatsoever. People questioning the impact of bringing on players who have flattered to deceive in the past, prior to them coming on and doing well and being praised. And Koumetio was a bomb scare. The actual team performance has solely been met with compliments, pride and praise. You have got a few reactions so mission accomplished I guess.
  24. He did although hes just back from injury.
