  1. The Venkys reign manages to stoop to new lows. Talk about pride and progression. We have just allowed Burnley to do the double over us, go 30 points ahead and win the league at our ground. We have failed to win in the last 7 games at the business end of the season, slipping right down and almost certainly into another play off less season. Another summer of dumbing down and just filling gaps with kids will apparently lead to further progression though. Tomasson has overseen a terrible run when it matters which is being viewed totally differently to when Mowbray did it and he probably will get less points over a season.
  2. It doesnt help us to fill the ground that the limited away allowance has led to us being cautious selling in the home ends so some Rovers fans will struggle to be able to go I suspect.
  3. Pears is not in outstanding form, just doing ok. Was Tomasson going to drop him? Why did he not drop him even when he was carrying an injury?
  4. Probably someone a bit more relevant rather than someone who did a decent job about 10-15 years ago.
  5. When he was injured! And it was one game against a half season of general excellence. Kaminski is better, does Pears "deserve" dropping? Perhaps not, I just prefer to play our best players.
  6. Hodgson was Palace's manager not long ago, totally incomparable. If you was an owner, your sole criteria would be "does he know the club?"
  7. Exactly, he has done exactly what you want from a stand in, come in and cover without any significant errors and proven himself as a competent stand in. Kaminski is a far better keeper, even this season the recency bias has kicked in and many have forgotten that he was outstanding and kept us in games right until the month before injury, at which point he was carrying that injury. Pears has looked edgier lately and there is at least once in each game where there is indecision between him and the defence, probably a contributing factor to us suddenly starting to concede goals again. Expectations have been stripped down, if we let by far our best keeper go, then have the number 2 as number 1 and promote a kid as back up, many won't bat an eyelid. Modern day Blackburn Rovers.
  8. Absolute lunatics then. McCoist presumably a mate.
  9. Which people?! Jamie Redknapp? Frank Lampard? Sandra Redknapp? Presumably only family members would suggest such nonsense.
  10. Form after 3 months of not playing? The question was who would you rate higher in general to start a fresh season after a spell of no games. No, they probably wont be both here, we will probably sell one and cut back as tend to do with a kid with no senior football on the bench. I just hope Kaminski starts the season in net. He is the better keeper, a safer presence and prior to his wobbles carrying an injury before he broke down, he had kept us in so many games this season.
  11. Even if you take the view that Pears has not done anything to warrant being dropped, say we have both next season, who is better to start a fresh season as number 1?
  12. Didnt he only play the last 10 minutes v Hartlepool, once we were 4 up?
  13. So he purposely didnt get into the play offs just to coast, rather than it being down to not quite being up to it?
  14. Szmodics wouldn't be starting regularly in the Premier League.
  15. The reason that people are saying such "defeatist" things is because it means so much to people. The passion and desire is there with people spending good money to go following Rovers and be continiously witnesses of falling at the final hurdle. Regarding belief, you can't blame anyone. Last season, we collapsed in the second half of the season. This season, we were 10 minutes away from Wembley, messed that up and have since failed to win in 6 in the last set of games where the pressure is there to seal our play off place.
  16. I think the intention was to have him back temporarily and then loan him back once Everton signed a new striker which didnt happen.
  17. Why would a top 4 chaser appoint the manager recently sacked at 19th place Leicester?
  18. Morton was one of our better players yesterday in a 3, no way does he deserve dropping from the squad.
  19. Not based on its actions it isnt.
  20. He is doing a good job with a very young, promoted team to be fair, especially as down to injury and a very late loan recall, he doesn't have a striker.
  21. Still gutted after another late goal, Tomasson earlier in the season was the master of seeing games out, now it is a huge weakness and he keeps inviting pressure by bringing on defenders and offering no plan to sustain attacks. We looked far better with the midfield 3 again with Morton so much more comfortable alongside Travis and Wharton. Dolan as often is the case flattered to deceive and him and Thomas were deservedly hooked at half time.
  22. Kaminski is a better keeper who provides less nerves to the rest of the team, sadly I suspect it will be Pears.
  23. Him and Gallagher are equally always offside and it is so frustrating.
  24. I am not too sure, even around me the other day, if he mis-controlled (his first touch has always been hit and miss) or if he failed to reach an under-hit pass or anything like that, I heard people around me saying "his head is in Spain" and similar. There must be an element of him having that move in his head, not necessarily just avoiding injury but dealing with it (aswell as a new kid) on a personal level so I don't doubt that it is obviously a contributing factor. But I do think aswell that tactically, Tomasson's set up has not been as beneficial to Brereton individually hence why he has not been as good all season. There may be multiple factors, he has also picked up a couple of injuries recently having looked shattered even at the start of this season, and he seems really short of confidence, and we can all remember a Brereton lacking in confidence towards the early parts of his Rovers career. Might be a bit of everything. As you say, it would be a brave call because there are no goals elsewhere. So I would personally look at trying to get him closer to the opposition net and not wide left in the 4231 which only further allows/leads to him being far wide and miles away from goal. He was far better at Huddersfield and had more purpose in a front 3. People calling for a kid with 40 minutes senior football to start shows what we are working with in such a critical point in the season. Not many goals in Dolan, Hedges, Thomas and Szmodics either. Shows how poorly the club is run though ultimately that this has happened again. Watching Rovers win is always a joy to watch and the ends justify the means. But sometimes "a joy to watch" from an attacking sense? Not sure about that.
