  1. We need 2 senior keepers, like every other team.
  2. He is better than Travis, much better on the ball and fantastic at positioning himself but I think the pair would make a very good partnership. Pearson can take it on the half turn unlike anyone we have.
  3. I sort of get why they have more interest in us but not to that extent. We have been in or around the play offs, I doubt the likes of Millwall and Luton have been moved half as much. But even so, 1 or 2 at a push out of 5 moved, fine. Put on a couple midweek too, that doesn't require any changes for the fans the supposedly think that make football. Its the quantity that riles people and causes people who have tickets to miss out. And 12pm on new years day and half 7 on a Saturday? Both are stupid slots. You keep repeating the "modern day football" line but it doesn't justify the quantity of matches moved. I have still attending the home games but I can show empathy, why can't you? It will compound high season ticket prices IMO and lead to smaller crowds. I just hope it at least fits around your shifts, that is all that matters.
  4. He was, it was one game though when he was seemingly carrying an injury. Before a couple of wobbles, he was keeping us in games singlehandedly. Tough choice, usually managers go straight back to their number 1 for a reason. Could understand either way but would probably go back to our number 1.
  5. Would your answer to my question then be a simple yes, you do think it is acceptable to have only 1 3pm Saturday kick off in 6 months? I know that the cup moved the Blackpool game, not a problem. But 4 moves for TV out of 5 and more to come, disgraceful and will deter potential season ticket holders.
  6. Didnt you say that you'd get a young backup through the academy?
  7. It is a bit different picking a goalkeeper as there is no scope for a sub appearance, its one or the other. Pears would be unlucky to be dropped but Kaminski is obviously better and was our best player up until a couple of jitters prior to injury, and he was carrying that injury before breaking down according to Tomasson.
  8. We go into the season after the international break with an excellent opportunity now. Anything less than a top 6 finish would be a huge disappointment.
  9. Great set of results. Watched the Stoke v Norwich game, again lacking in quality as you expect in this league (the amount of passes that leave players shorts, just basic lacking of quality) but Stoke should have won comfortably. Ben Pearson would have been perfect for us, as much as he is a dickhead.
  10. We get that you keep saying that it isnt just a 3pm Saturday kick off timetable any more. But @chaddyrovers do you think that it is acceptable for one team to not have a home league game at 3pm in over half a season, yes or no? The odd one moved, of course that is fine. But not every single bloody one over months and months.
  11. Whether what the EFL requests is seen as stupid or not, it is necessary and we didn't do it in time.
  12. But Venkys never refuse to write a cheque...
  13. Because firstly, I felt that we needed a more experienced player in there so in my opinion, he wasn't the right type of player. And quality wise, I don't think he gets into our first team when everyone is fit, I think his general level of performance has been not particularly good and I think that central midfield has often been a weakness in our side, an area in which he was a regular up until the majority of our recent upturn in form. He hasn't been appalling like Mola and Hirst, hence the description of "underwhelming."
  14. Ultimately, your opinion again is based on the fact that it doesn't bother/affect you individually.
  15. So does 100% of the blame go on the EFL in your mind, 0% to Rovers?
  16. Of course, we can never expect a perfect transfer record. One signing has been excellent and two others have definitely added to the team. Equally, I think Morton was not what was needed and has underwhelmed, and the other two summer loanees were nowhere near good enough, the individuals don't shield our recruitment team (mainly Broughton) of criticism/blame by taking it themselves or it being put down to an unfortunate set of circumstances, they reflect poorly on Broughton just as the main 3 reflect well on him. I would expect in time that the new structure with a big appointment taking a large salary will lead to a much higher success rate though, otherwise we may aswell scrap it. But at the moment, "some good some poor" is a fair summary.
  17. "I'm happy sat on my arse and will do so until told otherwise" wouldn't make a good interview would it?! But assuming he would push for a move if he wasn't first choice, which he shouldn't be, then we MUST sign a senior goalkeeper to replace him. Under no circumstances could we go into a season with one senior goalkeeper. I don't think any other team in the league is as naive. I would understand it a tiny bit had you specifically mentioned one goalkeeper (say Hilton) and had said I believe he is up to the standard of being number 2. That would be based on kids football but at least it would be that one goalkeeper is ready to step up. We need to lose the culture of if there is a gap in the squad, someone from the academy will fill it. We are very reliant on the academy and half of our team has come from there which is great to see. But the academy graduates should be seen as individuals, not as a conveyor belt. If there is an individual that is seen as one for next season, maybe a Batty or a Leonard, then by all means have plans for him in the first team squad next season, but even then not at the cost of a senior option in that position.
  18. I stand by my comment that Morton has been an underwhelming signing and that isn't based on the benchmark of Harvey Elliott. I do think Tomasson kept faith in him for too long but I said last summer that we needed experience in there so for me he was the wrong type of signing. We have Travis who is still quite young but experienced enough, we also have Buckley who had never played the position really at senior level and then at the time youngsters who had not played senior football. I don't see where the glimpses of Mola's quality have been, nor is it balanced to put the blame at Hirst's door for his failure. Both were well short of the quality needed and were poor judgements on behalf of the recruitment side. Just as Hyam was an excellent signing and Brittain and Szmodics have added to the team when fit. Some signings were good, some poor.
  19. If we got promoted then I would look to move Pears on and get someone better. But if we stay down, we can't just promote a kid with no first team experience to be number 2, if that had been this season we don't know how things would have gone. Pears would not be a valuable asset, he would be unlikely to generate more than a nominal fee so even if it meant keeping him for the final year of his deal and loaning one or two of the young keepers out to gain experience, then fine. Our young keepers tend only to attract loans well down into non league.
  20. If you think that 1 3pm home Saturday kick off over many months is acceptable then you are in a very small minority. A total disregard towards match going fans especially when one team is selected to such a degree. People will not bother with season tickets because it just wont be worth it. There has to be changes. Limits on individual teams being moved, thought towards travelling distances at certain times. It wont happen because as much as Sky said that football is nothing without fans, they clearly dont give them a second thought. Twats. You keep saying that it isn't "just" a 3pm Saturday sport. That might be valid if the odd game moved. Not nearly every one.
  21. Assuming we are in this league still, I don't get why we sell either. Kaminski is the better keeper obviously, but Pears has proven to be a solid stand in and I'd rather keep him rather than cash in for a nominal fee and have an untested kid as back up.
  22. Our scouting team's judgement can't be trusted unconditionally, none can. They thought that George Hirst was worthy of being the number 1 target to be our striker. They identified Clinton Mola as a genuine transfer target. Even Tyler Morton is overall an underwhelming signing.
  23. Pears shouldn't get a 5 year deal.
  24. All the way through lockdown, sky bleated on about football being nothing without fans. Now they are back, they clearly couldn't give a shit about them. If you think that the below is acceptable on any level then the only possible logical reason must be that you work for Sky Sports: And not only moved, half 7 on a Saturday, why? Any Hull fans wanting to come via train are fucked now. And which non supporters will watch this game at that time? There has to be change, there has to be limits brought in to how many games a month and a season can be shown for 1 team to minimise disruption. More thought has to be put into time slots, half 7 on a Saturday is not acceptable, fixtures should be chosen with an eye on potential travel disruption. And more notice needs to be given. It won't though, especially when you have people with the attitude of chaddy. I have seen numerous comments like the above about people not getting season tickets, that is what this will do, drive fans away.
  25. Do we think Rovers fans will be kettled into the stadium on arrival? I really hope not.
