  1. The game against Huddersfield was one of our most boring of the season, and that is saying something. His comment about an attacking style just shows that players will say anything.
  2. I have always been staunchly against the idea of "writing off seasons" and I was saying that signing a loan suggests that such an assumption is clearly false. The club has lacked ambition ever since these owners came in.
  3. I hope Porteous wasnt the only player we had in mind on a permanent deal now that we have failed to complete that deal.
  4. I agree, I think some have read too much into the comments made to the press.
  5. There has been plenty of talk on here about that. @J*B and @Mike E have said they believe similar.
  6. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/10118305/kevin-nisbet-ryan-porteous-hibs-millwall/?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=ScottishSunSportTwitter&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1674681927-1 Porteous is going to Watford.
  7. A short term signing which further highlights the inconsistencies of any theories that we are writing off this season and shows how it is clearly not true. Im not saying that we arent also trying to plan longer term but the amount of focus on projects etc is predominantly an attempt to buy time and reduce expectation.
  8. No mention of a potential permanent deal and Broughton mentioned players cheap due to expiring contracts and short term loans so seemingly only here for the rest of the season.
  9. https://downatthemac.proboards.com/thread/117762/sorba-thomas?page=33 Not necessarily the most flattering thread. Big question marks over his attitude and his contribution aside from his set pieces, but clearly has ability as I have seen when I have seen him for Huddersfield in the past.
  10. I dont know he wont, but he certainly doesnt have a track record of scoring. If he has been signed based on his goalscoring credentials then it makes no sense. I suspect he will play from his favoured position from the right and maybe he will also rightly or wrongly play as a wing back if we ever go to a back 5 as he has filled in there occasionally. I would imagine that Markanday might leave on loan, for me he should be in the forefront of Tomasson's mind for a start but he may aswell go and play week in week out elsewhere if he is not fancied. If we get a striker then we could have Brereton, Dolan, Dack, Szmodics, Thomas, Hedges, a new striker and Gallagher. I would let loan Vale go ideally permanently but failing that on loan to League 1. I will be very disappointed if there is no option to buy though. For a club thag bangs on about this project we have a very short term focused attack.
  11. We have quite a few fans on here though that through interpretation have taken it as though this season is basically just a free hit and a foundation setting ahead of a push next season. That is not consistent with many of the decisions made on contracts/loans/use of youngsters etc...
  12. We have been shocking in attack from both open play and set pieces this season, in neither instance do we appear to be well coached. The good thing about Thomas is that although he adds to a group (Gallagher, Dolan, Hedges, Szmodics) that don't score enough goals, he does give us a potential solution to the lack of set piece threat that we have, Hedges and Morton have not done well enough from there. The worry is that assuming we also get a striker on loan, what is perhaps our best front 4 all would then potentially leave at the end of the season.
  13. Does he usually play on the left? I always had him down as coming in from the right which isnt what we are calling out desperately for with Hedges and Markanday naturals there with Dolan also often featuring from there. He has impressed me at times for Huddersfield and he brings pace and set piece ability and it is another option in a currently impotent attack that looks like it has never done any attacking training but not sure he is exactly what we need as an individual.
  14. @roverandout is rumoured to be a big fan...
  15. Replace our main goal threat with a winger with 3 goals in 70 games?
  16. Unsure what to make of Thomas, decent player on his day but has failed to replicate his form this season. Much more underwhelming as a loan without an option. One thing he would give us is a set piece threat, the likes of Hedges and Morton are usually appalling from set pieces. Pushes Markanday further away, maybe he will be loaned out?
  17. More boring that Tomasson's football?
  18. Yep, it is a mess. But purely in terms of the manager, Lampard has earnt less than a point a game over a seasons worth of games, so it is clearly a sensible option to get rid. They need to stay in the Prem ahead of their stadium move.
  19. We almost certainly will, we are right at the end of the window. You said the 3 were done last week, I dont think they were to the point of merely confirming.
  20. Im not having that we have a few deals ready to go at this moment.
  21. Who would have a better chance of survival, Lampard or Allardyce? They should have sold Gordon in the summer, hes crap.
  22. And his inability to ever get into another goalscoring position isn't a good thing.
  23. Yeah, both played in the third round.
  24. That stuff about us "interviewing" 3 foreign players at the start of the window seemingly was a load of rubbish anyway.
  25. Very cryptic as ever, every transfer will reach a head this week as the window is about to close! No names or whether they are actually going to sign or not, yet I bet it was followed with a swarm of tweets asking him questions like he is sat on a treasure chest of untold transfers. Interesting change of the goal posts.
