  1. Wasnt you was it? That would explain your dislike for him... Youtube videos are not a valid reflection. Could get you a video that makes Heskey look like Drogba. Very much so. Numerous players out of position tends to end one way. The 2 defensive ones are based on imbalanced recruitment (no back up for Lenihan and Nyambe), the attacking ones are needless tactical errors. Aye, mentioned this yesterday. Very ominous signs that he doesnt even name him!
  2. Noticed that Chris Taylor gave the penalty away. Shocking player, massively overrated when here.
  3. Absolutely 100% agree. Also most of the comments about Brereton yesterday where critical of Mowbray and how he is using him. I dont think we can even think of justifying breaking up the Graham and Dack partnership. But the only place Brereton should be utilised is as a striker.
  4. Just because hes subbed off doesnt mean he cant do 90 minutes. Smallwood has been subbed off a few times and hes probably got as good a stamina as anyone.
  5. Brereton should only be considered as a striker but no way can he be above Graham. Agree on Reed at right back barring a Nyambe return, in which case id play Reed wide and drop Rothwell. Rodwell is never a centre back. Think Potter realised pretty quickly in that second half that Bennett and Rodwell are not defenders and they ripped us to shreds down that side.
  6. What are you on about? I agreed with you that Mowbray shouldnt play Brereton wide and Dack as a striker.
  7. So did we on TV. (Not together haha) Agreed and he has looked like a fish out of water there and Mowbray is making a mistake playing him there. Something you agreed with on your post to be fair about him wide and Dack central. Mowbray said in his interview "Dack can play there Armstrong can play there" and didnt even mention Brereton worryingly.
  8. You missed out in your opinion.
  9. The fans logic on Brereton is totally backwards. He clearly doesnt have the attributes to play there and Forest fans have said that he was poor whenever he played wide for them. Hes being left out to dry by Mowbray by playing there and doesnt look comfortable there. If you want someone on to play wide, Palmer, Conway and Rothwell are more suited for that role than a number 9. If a strikers goalscoring form isnt good enough to warrant a place in his natural position, why is there a need to squeeze him in elsewhere? I dont get why Mowbray felt such an urge to change anything, we were comfortable in the first half. Evans and Smallwood were very effective. Mowbray tinkered for the sake of it and ending up tricking himself. Half the team at the end of the game were out of position and we looked ragged. Rodwells never a centre back, Dacks never a number 9, Breretons never a winger and Bennetts never a full back. Mowbray got it wrong tonight.
  10. What a disappointing night, we were comfortable and threw it away (not the first time weve thrown away a match this season) and Mowbray has to be the main man responsible, predominantly for 2 reasons: - He simply had to prioritise signing a centre back in the summer. Not interested in excuses, or theories about not being able to get Bauer. Look elsewhere if need be. Jack Rodwell is a good technical footballer but hes never a centre back in a million years, that needs to stop. We need to pray that Lenihan has just picked up a knock. You can not get through half or even a full season with 2 competent centre backs. Beyond that, weve one more centre back who is nowhere near good enough (why did Mowbray make Downings deal permanent?) and then you are playing square pegs in round holes beyond that. Do that and expect to concede goals. - He needs to file the Brereton wide, Dack up front experiment under failed experiments along with playing 3 at the back. It quite simply doesnt work, and hes hanging his 6m striker out to dry by playing him there. Again I dont think he was too bad but hes never a wide man, nor is Dack a striker. I dont think the fact that when Graham was taken off things started to fall apart was a coincedence. Otherwise, I'd suggest that Elliott Bennetts performance was possibly the worst individual performance I've seen from a Rovers player this season. Does he realise that to make a tackle, he doesnt have to slide? He was caught miles out of position so many times, and was targeted as a liability. He isnt a right back and while Nyambe is out, I would play Reed at right back who impressed there for Norwich last season. Again, its square pegs in round holes though. Rodwell, Bennett, Dack, Armstrong, Brereton, 5 players out of position, half a team. No wonder we became so disjointed. Mulgrew was our best player by a country mile. Evans and Smallwood were good in the first half but soon became out done in the middle. Raya was very slow coming out off his line to give Celina an easy third. His kicking was also diabolical. Not sure what to make of Rothwell. I do like his energy and drive but I'm not convinced he does anything constructive with the ball. Also dont get what Palmer has done to fall so far down the pecking order. Hes already got 3 goals, his individual quality was key in winning at Bolton, yet he doesnt seem to get a sniff. A waste of a very talented player.
  11. Would have personally brought in Rodwell and Williams for Smallwood and Bell but cant complain with an unchanged team and glad to see Graham and Reed fit.
  12. Its a difficult one. You could argue that signing a third striker will compromise his development further though.
  13. I really hope that is not the case and Brereton is being groomed to be a number 9, but obviously one that will be behind Graham for the forseeable future. Forest fans, including the one who came on this board, stated that he is really poor from that position, and needs to be used centrally. From his cameos in that position, I can understand why. You would, youve been deriding Grahams ability to play 3 games in a week for ages now!
  14. He is indeed. Not scored in 1 game, thats a drought for him!
  15. Yeah he is tall but so was Sam Gallagher and he jumped lower than he stood! No way can we play only one central midfielder and then Dack behind 2 other strikers. Dack is a second striker himself. The only way to get all 3 central would be 3 at the back I would suggest. Something that clearly doesnt suit us. Lets hope not! I agree that it is a big gamble but I would be very surprised if a 6 million signing regardless of age could potentially be further pushed down the pecking order by another new striker. Cant see Mowbray (or most Championship managers) being given such a financial luxury! I disagree with the last bit. Hes never been the most athletic player but personally, id argue that Dack has visibly tired in my opinion more obviously than Graham in quite a few games. Obviously he probably cant play every minute of every game all season but on the flip side I hope we arent over cautious over one of our 2 primary attacking threats.
  16. I think Mowbray may struggle to convince the owners to spend more on strikers considering he spent over 8 million on 2 of them in the summer. Grahams fitness at the moment looks far better than people give him credit for. As you said though age will catch up with him at some point, hopefully no time imminently. While he is as fit as he looks we need to get the most out of him. And the other 2 should learn from him. Brereton is not a classic big man though. Not reknown for his aeriel prowess. That said, such a partnership would require moving or dropping Dack.
  17. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16999726.rovers-striker-danny-graham-on-playing-three-games-a-week/?ref=mr&lp=7 nd of the three games in a week debate, the striker said: “It’s getting a bit boring to be honest. “I’ve played three games in a week already this season. “Everyone goes on about me being 33, it doesn’t matter how old you are as long as you keep yourself fit and right. “I feel as though I’m fitter now than I ever have been at this football club so I think three games in a week is fine for me. “If other people want to talk about it then that’s fine." Myth dispelled.
  18. For me, thats incredibly harsh. While there was an obvious section of our crowd who moaned and groaned, any dissent towards the manager wasnt a touch on how widespread and hostile it was to McCarthy. Fans didnt force Allardyce out at all. What a terrible list! Only Moyes would be remotely appealing and hed never go there. Any other club in that position, the irony is McCarthy would be first choice!
  19. I dont feel that the quality within the League is as good as people seem to imply. It is intruiging and it is competitive but there are a lot of poor teams in it, Hull, Ipswich, Reading, Millwall, Rotherham, Bolton, QPR and Birmingham. Its why I was never of the opinion that wed be in a relegation scrap. The reason its so fascinating is that you could probably put a blanket over the majority of the other teams. There is quality in it of course but thats not where the intrigue comes from. The same Forest manager that got Boro promoted?
  20. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/september/bad-news-for-rovers-pair/ This season, wonder where his career will go from here.
  21. Apologies for reading your post in a slightly cynical light, my mistake. I dont think we have hoards of boycotters missing out to be fair.
  22. Out for the season according to Mowbray.
  23. Mid table consolidation would be fairly acceptable but theres nothing to fear in a competitive but at times, slightly overestimated league. From what we've seen so far, there is nothing to stop us from having half an eye on the play offs as an ambitious target, as long as people dont see that as the minimum expectation. There are a lot of teams in the bottom 7 or 8, Ipswich, Hull, Reading, Rotherham, Reading and Bolton (Preston should eventually move upwards) that are exactly where they are expected to be and, barring a collapse from ourselves, should provide a comfortable buffer above safet You look at teams like us, Wigan, Sheffield United, Norwich and Brentford, all teams in the top half who seem to be clubs looking up, working towards their full potential, but perhaps without the resources of Derby, Nottingham Forest, West Brom etc propping them up. Also, your final comment has been debated in depth in other threads, but needless to say that is an unfair representation on what most consider to be the main reasons as to why we arent drawing in more respectable attendances.
  24. Disagree with your point regarding centre backs. Players who can fill in for half an hour mid-game or for 1 or 2 games max in someones absence, thats one thing, if Mulgrew or Lenihan are out for say a month or longer then you cant rely on someone out of position, as their lack of familiarity with that position will become abundantly clear. From the 3 you mention, Williams has experience of playing as one of a 3 at Bristol City, if he was to fill in here he wouldnt have that luxury. Rodwell has not played there regularly since his youth career and Nyambe only once or twice (I recall Hull at home and also a checkatrade game) and he looked like a fish out of water, for one he cant head a ball.
  25. Theres no way that if Brereton started scoring goals and playing well, that people "wouldnt warm to him." The only reason that many arent convinced is because in his very limited cameos, one thing im keen to stress (limited game time), he has done nothing to suggest that he is going to stake a claim to be a regular in the side. What I have seen from Forest fans online has not been unanimous I must say, been split positive and negative, but one thing that is massively different, as much as we may want to pretend it isnt, is that at Forest, he was one of quite a few players (Worrall, Burke etc) that came through the academy, and I have seen a lot about "giving youth a chance" so Brereton would have been a torch bearer for the clubs academy. Here, he is a 7 million signing after a number of years of incredibly limited spending. Therefore the expectations/background is totally different.
