  1. I've found him:- Serie C1 outfit Genoa have signed former Ternana and Blackburn Rovers striker Corrado Grabbi. The 30-year-old has found it difficult to rediscover his form after a woeful experience in the Premiership and brief spells with Messina, Ancona and Arezzo. Sadly Genoa are struggling at the foot of Serie C1. They gained promotion to Serie A last year but were demoted down to C1 after being found guilty of match fixing.
  2. Anyway off you go guys. Give us all the benefit of your combined intelligence and experience. We're all waiting with bated breath.......... ..............Otherwise shut the ###### up! 347520[/snapback] If you can't take a even a slight amount of criticism about your 'saviour' for the game and can't refute the points then I would suggest you give up because you clearly can't have thought things through properly. You are the only person I have ever read come up with Lancs United so why everyone is waiting with baited breath I don't know. There are hundreds of suggestions on this thread of how to save the game, not one as daft as yours however. You should try reading other peoples posts for once and take the blinkers off.
  3. You may well say it's harsh Phil but in fairness most people can see it's not. I am one who is firmly peeeed off with the state of the game. The thought of Lancs United is just laughable and frankly ridiculous, it would turn away far more than it would attract. It's ignoring all the factors that are causing a decline in support of the game at present. In fact it's probably everything that is wrong with the game all rolled into one.
  4. Watching the highlights of the series last night really brought it home to me firstly how well England have played and secondly just how good the series was. So many memories you just don't know where to start but you just know they will stay with you for a lifetime. I suppose the test is where they go from here but with the quality we have and the structure will ensure we go onwards and upwards. Congrats to the Aussies on their good spirit and especially to Warne who will not be seen again in a Test match on these shores, the games will be poorer for it. Finally thanks to all that posted on a great thread especially those that took the thread and the series in the right spirit. The only question now is what on earth do we all do now?
  5. Swap that England for Tait and that was possibly the most accurate prediction you've made all summer Don.
  6. As the umpires confirmed it's not a case of being dangerous simply unfair. Why should England bat in conditions like that when today will be clear. You seem to forget the world's best bowler at the other end PG. Hard enough to play in normal circumstances but in murky conditions just impossible. It doesn't have to be dangerous simply not good enough light play properly. Marsh even came out and admitted that they were not conditions for playing test cricket in.
  7. Great news that Lancs got promotion back to the 1st division of the County Chamionship today as well.
  8. Poll has a grudge against Savage anyway for using his toilet so he would have booked him regardless. I thought he had a good game and did his job perfectly well.
  9. John Buchanan summed it up to me when interviewed. He was asked if they regretted coming off for bad light. He said he didn't feel they had suffered to much because of that but had lost it today with their batting. He did pay credit to the bowling of England. With today being overcast it was clear the Aussies needed to build a lead to put pressure on England for tomorrow. Thanks to some great bowling they were not able to do that. Still a bit nervous for tomorrow but think we have enough batting to hang around long enough to put the game beyond the Aussies.
  10. I find it amazing that anyone can seriously expect them to play when they don't need to and the light is obviously bad. People can call them soft all they want but if the light was ok the umpires wouldn't offer it. Of course it's frustrating for the Aussies but it's the same for both teams. We would have loved to have carried on all night at Old Trafford but rules are rules.
  11. It was extremely funny and indicative of the good atmosphere at these games. It is a shame that they have come off but to be honest at this stage of the Ashes what else do they do. Presumably the light must be the same as what the Aussies took the other day or the batsmen wouldn't be offered it.
  12. I doubt we will lose a session tomorrow but maybe an hour. Still should be plenty of cricket played and hopefully we get a bit of luck which deserted us today. Even though they can play until 7 I doubt that will be possible on either of the last 2 days just because of the time of year. I've got a feeling there will still be a result in this match and it all depends upon how we play Warne.
  13. I would have thought they were better off carrying on for a lead of say 200 if they get the weather. Warne would back himself to bowl us out on the last day. We've just got to hope we can prove him wrong.
  14. They have started bringing the covers of but it looks like it's started raining again. It's actually brightening up a bit more now so should indeed start at 15.30. Still a lot of dark clouds around though.
  15. Must have missed those pearls of wisdom then
  16. But you're going to refrain from delighting us with your obviously endless knowledge of the game I take it?
  17. They may well have to but if as seems likely there is another interruption this evening plus a few tomorrow it will be late on tomorrow before they get near our total. That is obviously ignoring the fact that we take more wickets which given how Harmison was bowling in that over seems likely.
  18. You don't need to be Nostradamus to predict rain in England!
  19. Might be better light but shame about the rain eh? Still a poor decision and will just get poorer with every stoppage.
  20. This test is different to the other tests though because England only need a draw so there will be no rushing on their part. England were batting for the second time at this stage at Edgbaston. Bearing in mind that they need to put on a decent lead they are going to have bat into tomorrow and then bowl us out cheaply, not impossible I know. Any further disruptions and a draw will look even more likely. Langer himself has admitted that in hindsight he would have made a different decision.
  21. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and if we had known the light wouldn't lift in the afternoon then Matty Hayden and myself may have thought differently about taking the light offer from the umpires. That is the quote from Langer off the BBC. Shows he knows thye've dropped a clanger in coming off. He's right in the sense they didn't know the weather wouldn't come good again. However at this stage of the game it was a big gamble and one they can't afford. Shows how nervous they are I suppose.
  22. Fair point re the Aussie batting which I made earlier, they haven't score 350+ in a 1st innings so why will they now. Despite what a few made out the pressure is definitely on them so it will have an effect. I don't think the weather will have much of an impact to be honest although the forecast changes by the hour. Got half a day today so looking forward to some decent cricket watching.
  23. It's a very good point that has been made about waiting to see what the Aussies do on the pitch before reading too much into it. Edgbaston was supposed to be a batters paradise but the the Aussies just got above 300, OT didn't give much help to the bowlers and again the they struggled. At this stage of the game we have more runs than the Aussies have mae in any 1st innings in the series. My only slight worry is that we are a bowler light in effect. However as has been pointed out Harmison is due one and this pitch could well suit him. An interesting day awaits.
