[Archived] Glazer Set For Utd
Manchester Blue replied to ainscough99's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Barca are owned by their members so it is in effect a co-op of sorts. Where did you hear they are allowing shirt sponsorship? I can find nothing on this anywhere and would be amazed if it was true. -

United do not have access to the resources that have allowed Barca to get to the position. Barca also have a very good manager who has got them playing very well, United similarly do no have that luxury. They may get back to a position of dominance but it will be a bad thing for football if they do. -

EiT I may not agree with you but at least you are making a sound and possibly valid argument. For that alone you should be applauded. -

Yes but Hearts were not bought not put up for sale that is the point. If a rich businessman wanted to put his money into Blackburn I wouldn't have a problem but putting them up for sale wouldn't bring about this. Also putting a few million into Hearts is the equivalent of what JW did for us in the early nineties. You would need a hell of a lot more than that to make an impression in the Premiership. It's simply unrealistic and downright stupid to suggest that the Walkers should put the club up for sale. If the Walkers want to sell, then fair enough but announcing that sends out all the wrong signals. -

So you confirm you haven't thought it through at all. Who on earth would buy a loss-making football club at a time when football in general is struggling. The Walkers trust fund is the only thing that is keeping this club in the Premier league at present. If the club were sold then what plans would the new owner have. The Walkers make nothing out of this club, could you say the same for a potential purchaser. If somebody came in with a decent proposal fair enough but you don't just put clubs up for sale like houses, strangely enough rich Blackburn fans willing to bankroll the club with no reward are few and far between. -

Sell it to who? Do you think anyone else fancies putting in £5-10 million a year to cover our operating shortfall? You just don't think anything through do you? -

One of my main arguments against the use of technology other than for goal line issues is that it is simply not that clear cut. Take yesterday's incident for a prime example. I firmly believe that it was an incorrect decision and Match of the Day argued that it was wrong as well. However Kamara and his sidekick argued this morning it was justified and in his own imitable way he proved it by showing the same camera angle as last night as if it was an exclusive. How would a video clear it up if there is still no agreement nearly 24 hours later? -

I would have thought the FA would have more important things to deal with like the goings on at Stoke and also the Stevenage match. Incidentally another complaint about the weak Halsey was his refusal to do anything about Everton's constant time wasting in the second half. They kicked the ball away at free kics countless times. Despite all this he only added 2 minutes stoppage time of whic he played 30 seconds. Even the fourth offical acknowledged this was not correct but could do nothing about it. -

It is one of the most basic rules of football that handball should only be given if it is intentional. Never mind the sending off etc, it has to be deliberate. It's one of the things pundits and especially armchair pundits get wrong. One of the benefits of playing local league football was learning some of the rules that you don't always pick up from watching. Amateur refs are by and large a great bunch who jus do it or the pleasure. They also ref very much by the book and the amount of times handballs were not given because it was 'ball to hand' you wouldn't believe. It seems to me the supposed 'pro' refs get swayed by the culture of fans who scream handball every time the ball is anywhere near the body. Todd's sending off is not a matter of opinion, it's simply wrong. Watch it closely and his eyes and most importantly his arm don't move he is trying to readjust to the path of the ball and it hits his arm, i.e ball to hand. It really is that simple. It's for that reason that I expect Todd's sending off to be rescinded which will be the second time this season that it has happened with Halsey. Will he be disciplined? I doubt it very much but he bloody well should be. -

Looks like Cahill could be banned for the game. Babayaro has already accepted a 3 match ban and Cahill has until 6pm tonight to respond or face a hearing tomorrow. -

He is so different to Kuqi it is not even worth the comparison. Whether he is quite good enough for the Premiership is debatable but he has the quality, something which Kuqi lacks sadly. -

The game is actually on Wednesday 30th. I blame the Walkers for getting the date wrong!! -

Of course we got the right plane. The two Manchester based members who struggle with which plane to get on were not travelling this time. -

Yes you're quite right of course, Ferguson would never sign a player with a suspect personality like Cantona, Rooney or Keane for example!! -

That's a very black & white way of viewing things and ignores the match completely. Of course i'd rather we were 'lucky' and got something but in the cold light of day I can look back and be pleased at the chances we created ad the football we played, that's what I paid for and that's what I got. Incidentally I don't think we were unlucky just defended badly at times and they were clinical. However to suggest we were huff and puff is rubbish. When the opposition keeper pulls off 3 or 4 cracking saves and defenders block another 3 goal bound efforts you know you have created chances. Would like to see Thommo given a start on Wednesday based on how he looked yesterday, very promising. -

Everton have the whole Darwen end but haven't sold out yet, they are on general sale. Hopefully it will be the biggest crowd of the season so far. -
Paul I understand your annoyance but I really don't think your stance is helping one bit. The nature of BRISA and indeed of any committee is that you are there to be shot at. It must be immensley frustrating to put as much effort in as you have only to take criticism but that is the nature of what you are doing. If you respond with sarcasm and snappy replies you will only help undo the hard work you have all put in. Keep up the hard work.

Criticising the club? Isn't that exactly what you said BRISA shouldn't be doing? You're arguments are so flimsy you're becoming more pathetic by the day.
