  1. We’ll be doing something similar again this time. Got a few little freebies for the kids and the grown ups so get down early!
  2. Latest fans forum minutes are up Looks like the blame for the Leeds pricing isn’t at our end.
  3. It’s gone a little bit under the radar that we are almost as averse to draws as we were for the first half of last season. Last year we seemed to gel a bit more after the World Cup break and cut out some silly errors and despite the drop off in points we were more consistent. Now the likes of Tronstad and Hill are integral parts of the team we look better organised. With a bit of overdue luck on the injury front and/or a couple of additions even on loan in January we definitely shouldn’t be seeing the playoffs as beyond us.
  4. Absolutely. He’s got bags of self confidence which has probably been a big factor in his goal return. He also seems really resilient and you can’t really imagine a spell of bad form from him. He’s had some really poor games but doesn’t seem to dwell on it, the Rotherham game earlier this season was a good example - a horrific first half followed up with a brace after half time.
  5. We executed the game plan very well today. Should’ve been a couple in front at half time so it was nice to improve the goal difference late on. Feared the worst when Carter went down and hope he isn’t back on the injured list. I wasn’t convinced with Travis coming on when Scotty got injured, but it was definitely the right call by JDT. Cracking result, and West Ham make it a brilliant day!
  6. Steve Williams mentioned in the above article is now on the board of We Are The Rovers as our heritage lead. Keep your eyes peeled for our new website coming very soon, which will include a heritage section.
  7. Indeed. Fans on their feet and applauding on all sides of the ground.
  8. Completely agree. Didn’t have any big calls to make but was just incompetent throughout..
  9. Cash flow has certainly been eased, and immediate liabilities dealt with. Restrictions still exist while Venky’s remain under investigation. We will be able to function and pay wages for now, and we will probably open the Blackburn End if we get a home draw in the FA Cup. They may have to do the same again in the not too distant future(although with one high court judgement I’d expect it to be an easier process going forward). Don’t expect any transfer warchest come January, but at least we won’t have to flog Wharton on the cheap to keep the lights on.
  10. Venky’s Delhi High Court judgement No meat to the bones on the link above, but there was an interim relief order last week which allows some cash flow back into Rovers from Venky’s.
  11. It’ll be strange being at a game knowing one of the absolute constants won’t be there. Home, away, U21s, club events, you always knew he’d be there. Always happy to talk Rovers when you’d bump into him in town or around Ewood. Very sad day for the club and its supporters. We’ve lost a legend. Probably number 2 in the list of our greatest ever supporters, and I don’t reckon he’d mind being second to Jack.
  12. Wahlstedt JRC Hill Wharton Pickering Tronstad Wharton Moran Szmodics Dolan Leonard Try Sigurdsson later on as he’s not been great in his last couple of starts.
  13. Can’t have too many complaints at the result. We should’ve had one, possibly 2 penalties, however the ref missed a blatant early one for them when Travis flew in after Sterling got away from Brittain. Wahlstedt is now a definite concern. That limp slap for the first goal was a joke and would’ve been embarrassing for a kid playing in the park with their mates. His concentration seems to be really lacking and he often looks panicked. I didn’t have a good view at all of the second from in the ground, and I’ve watched it back on the highlights. It looks to me like Carter has pulled up, and someone is screaming “Leo, Leo, Leo”, but he seems oblivious and throws a silly ball out to Brittain whose pass was pathetic. Pickering put in an honest performance but was absolutely brutalised due to his lack of pace. I’m pleasantly surprised he wasn’t sent off - which would’ve been an injustice as his early yellow was very soft. Britain’s performance was less honest and he hid sometimes. He’s so much more comfortable further up the pitch, out wide, with time and space. The ball becomes a hot potato when he’s under pressure. Travis got better when he realised throwing himself on the floor was less effective than trying to actually keep hold of the ball. Moran showed glimpses, Markanday ineffective and makes questionable decisions. Hill, Carter and Adam Wharton were the big positives and didn’t look at all out of place. Once again Leonard has to be hitting the target with that chance where he got through. Would’ve been nice for the fans for Sigurdsson to score late on - that ball from Garrett was the best bit of play all game. The big difference was our lack and their abundance of physicality. They were bigger, quicker and stronger all over the park.
  14. I’m paraphrasing here but it was along the lines of ”We need to make savings wherever we can, that’s why we closed the Blackburn End.”
  15. We met with Waggott specifically on this, short news is nothing to report. Waggott found out about the asset seizures in the same way everyone else did. From his point of view the situation hasn’t progressed since he last gave an update. The funds from India are still on hold, Venkys are telling him they are working hard to remedy the situation and remain committed. As a director he needs to be assured that there is nothing problematic in the accounts or that would come out in an audit, and he’s happy that’s the case. The issue is cash flow, that’s the reason for the BBE closure in the last league cup game, things are tight. Venky’s told him “not yet” in terms of a statement - so I doubt we will get one unless there is a change for the better. Personally I’m very concerned about January because if the tap isn’t turned on by then it’s going to mean sales.
  16. I wouldn’t be looking to give him the armband again any time soon. If anything it seemed to weigh him down rather than up his game, and all he did of note all afternoon was whinge and moan at everyone. Hill, JRC and Tronstad all look better organisers from a distance.
  17. That was pretty dire. We should’ve been 2 up within 15 minutes but it didn’t take long for Swansea to figure us out and completely control the game. Once they realised they just needed to be a bit more aggressive they had us beat. Sigurdsson with another poor game. Brittain was dire even without the glaring miss and should’ve been subbed after the third time he did the same stupid flick straight to the opposition - cowardly play. Szmodics was woeful and should not have completed the 90, his captain attributes seem to be whingeing at everyone around him. Scott Wharton started well but went to pieces, but we had bigger problems than him today. Not sure why Dolan got subbed off. Markanday will never be effective enough. Speaks volumes about both Ennis and Telalovic that they were unused subs. Leonard bright but needs some finishing practice, Adam Wharton needs to play, Moran looked good. Hill my MOTM. Not looking forward to Chelsea half as much as I was this morning.
  18. Agreed. Look so much more solid with Hill at the back, and he can play a bit. Brittain on the wing gives us some real natural width which we’ve otherwise lacked, and JRC looks fantastic box to box. I’d like to see Adam Wharton back in, but that would have to be for Sigurdsson meaning a change of formation. So he’ll probably have to bide his time.
  19. Special mentions for both Wharton brothers too. They contributed very well coming on in difficult circumstances.
  20. Toughest choice yet this season I think with several strong candidates. Britain, Hill, Carter, Tronstad, Dolan all brilliant. JRC just edges it for me, never put a foot wrong and showed that box to box midfielders do still exist.
  21. What a load of bollocks. He’s been immense tonight. Again.
  22. Britain is definitely a better winger than he is a full back! Great goal! Quality finish and what a ball from Hill!!
