judging by the reports its not looking too good on the striker front. fat Freddy has gone on record as saying he wont loan to another Premiership club, it has to be a sale ONLY. looks like celtic have got him on loan, but I cant see how Sutton fits into that team with hartson and bellamy

City cannot afford him they only received 1.6 million in money for anelka. Once they had sold him they had to pay £5.1 million onto he french club they owed money to.

its a tough call, boro didnt look too dangerous at manure on Saturday, in fact they looked distinctively poor at times. Rovers have got to watch Zenden and Downing and have to win the midfield battle. a draw for me -

some very serious and industrious points raised by all. Interesting reading, maybe all of the last 7 posts can be forwarded to john Williams to view and ingest. Something has to be done, a hero to be signed = not many of them about. an influx of new blood to light the touch paper ? Bellamy could be the one. a price structure to reflect status ? - in principle a good idea. all for free tickets for kids. there is a lot of work longterm to be done, its the short term thats the problem. full houses due - city. 3/4 full - chelsea/arsenal 1/2 full - norwich, southampton, fulham, palace for the last 4 games, we need to involve the public. A strategy of targetting schools, the unemployed, students aka tax dodgers and families are the real targets. for each game Rovers should provide 2500 tickets at a quid a school kid - it fills the top tier of the Darwen End. for the lower tier of the Darwen End - adult and 2 kids £12.00 for the family stand - adult and 2 kids (plus a 3rd free) £12.00 Blackburn End - kids for a quid, student and unemployed £5.00, first time visitors £10.00, supporters with a history of going £15.00 but if 2 adults charge £25.00 for 2 tickets. Wallker Steel Stand likewise JWalker Stand reduced prices alround. Okay, we get some disgruntlement from season ticket holders, but there are reasons why I suggest the above details. the main reason being that we really need to win those 4 games. A full house gives Rovers a goal start instead of a low atmosphere half empty stadium. wins in those games guarantees Premiership status, at the same time it also involves the public and on that basis even if we attract an increase of 10 percent for the home gates its a winner and can be repeated. Rovers need to generate interest and thats the way ahead. -

think that deal could be the clincher for the Ferguson sale if dado prso is right, being a canny scotsman I hope he is right although I would personally want fergie to stay. on a brighter side, reports are suggesting that Rovers have an agreed structure for the payment for Bellamy IF he agreed to move. Now Rovers have a good working relationship with Newcastle (albeit most us actually despise Souness for what he did and how he did it) - on previous dealings everyhting has always been fair and up front. I think that Rovers could easily agree a 3 yr payment deal for him, basing that on the fact that we can pay 2.1mill to Rangers for the outstanding money for Fergie. Its affordable and I am pretty sure that Bellamy would fancy Rovers above Brum, I mean the fresh air of the Ribble Valley against the smog ridden fume filled dump of brum is aptly a much better option for him. If the deal is to go ahead then I would suspect that Fergie is already medically passed and that terms have almost been agreed I would also suspect that if Rovers do have an iron in the fire then they too will be advanced so that there are little problems to solve for tomorrow. tomorrow appears to be building into an interesting day, its either that or a damp squib that suits noone -
Bruce very non committal on tv when asked about Bellamy, simply stated the same answers from the press issue on Friday evening. The whispers may be true

and your point is ? I am simply inferring that Rovers do not have the luck to avoid a big gun

If anyone else is watching the brum game Chelsea definately do have a few weak links IF they were to send this team out at Ewood. How long is it before the Champions League game ? The most frightening aspect of them today is the subs bench. The Duffer has not exactly been on top of his game and missed a sitter, their midfield does not operate freely without lampard at the helm, their attack is lightweight without Drogba. So the big plan......... Rovers must set out their stall from the very first minute and that means a 1-5-5 formation. Yikes I hear, cries of total madness, but wait.... theres more: Using the following team: Freidel Neil Short Nissa Todd Matteo Emerton Tugay Ferguson Flitcroft Thompson subs Dickov Jansen MGP Bellamy/Carew/Skoto Enckleman allows for the following plan. from the very first minute, Lucas Neill should take out either Duff/Robben with a slightly mistimed tackle, gaining a booking but seeing the player leave the field. This should be immediately followed by Short/Todd winning a crunching 50-50 tackle against the Drogba rendering the softie useless ans being substituted. Enter Thompson/Ferguson or Flitcroft, as Lampard tried to turn in the centre circle, a heavy tackle, slightly over the top, again rendering the player useless (not badly injured of course) leading to a substitution. After what is described as a heavily niggling match, Rovers escape the first half with 4 bookings and a 0-0 scoreline. Half time and enter Dickov and Bellamy/Carew. Rover change to a more clinical 4-4-2 formation. But before the teams can settle, Dickov turns terry, brought down and a penalty is awarded. terry is despatched to the changing rooms for an early shower, Dickov cooly slots the ball past Check (sp) 1-0 Rovers. What follows is a Chelsea team struggling to break the midfield graps that Rovers powerful DEFENSIVE midfield has on the game, 10 men of chelsea cannot break through and in the last 5 minutes MGP slides in to convert a riveting cross field pass from Emo to send the Ewood faithful into heaven, it send Arsehaol Whinger and the red faced one into raptures. And so it ends, my dream for the night. Its now back to reality, a couple of bottles of Bud and an early night Oh well, 30 hours for the transfer window to close and 3 sleepless nights wondering what the FUERK chelsea are going to do with us on Wednesday night. JHC it is great being a Rovers fan, But Mark, if your reading, those tactics are worth thinking about -
if we did get Bellamy then he would be cup tied. For me Rover cannot in anyway hope to draw a lower league club, we have had 2 already. Its just our luck to draw one of the big three and away from home. I would settle for hartlepool or the dingles at home

take out the money equation and what do you have ? a Rangers outfit that is NOT pulling out all the stops for a "star" player. They now have a more pressing urgency in another department and that is the goalkeeping position. they do not have an adequate replacement for Klos who as we all know Jan pointed out is the only reason why Rangers are currently second in the SPL, IF he was out any earlier then they would be below Hearts and Aberdeen. The re-signing of Ferguson guarantees them absolutley NOTHING. If Rangers want him they will pay the going rate -

I have had a very interesting exchange with dado prso (the lad with whom so many have a problem with - PHIL !! ) and he has given me an insight into the working and financial straits Rangers found themselves in. I dont believe the way the article in the LET will be the ranting of a Scotsman unhappy with his lot, after all Rovers HAVE granted his wish its just that Rangers and Rangers alone have failed to show the required love and attention as well as the transfer fee and it is them who have let him down. Rovers hold the better hand and I have seen the various thoughts of our members on having an unhappy player on the books. I dont subscribe to that view. Rovers pay his wages, Rovers have his registration and Rovers are the employers. If Fergie decided to play it unprofessionally then he loses wages, he loses bonuses, he loses his general fees and any other contractual payment he would have got. I dont see he has anything to gain in that kind of stance. Another point is that Mark Hughes appears to be a very good man manager who is more than capable of giving the required TLC to him to put him straight. Maybe he will have to wait for the Summer as Den suggested to get his move. Rovers have more pressing work to get on with like the signing of a striker to take the strain of our toothless attackers (Dickov excluded). dado, thanks for the email. I agree entirely with your thoughts I am sure you know what I mean -

From my position in sunny Leyland I have read with interests the views of phil against the dado prso kind of debate. its all very interesting, its all very intriguing, its a mystery as to who now is the most comfortable with this situation. we have had the discussion about Rangers being unable to afford the going rate, todays final bid seals that view IMO. If they so badly wanted the return of their MESSIAH then they would have made a more suitable bid. we have the views of the two main persons involved, Mssrs Murray and Williams. There is no doubt that Murray has been a successful businessman away from football and it is clear that his recent rights issue has saved his beloved team. We down here in Lancashire (and beyond) and seen that Williams is a man not to be messed around with. For once "little 'ol Blackburn Rovers" have stood by their guns and not buckled in the face of player power/agent provocation and high media reporting of the whole scenario. we have seen that Viola has shown himself to a complete to$$er when it comes to his client and his dealings. Poor BF must be wondering just what is going on. I dont believe that BF is unhappy at Ewood. Granted we dont have 52k fans at home every week and we dont have the knack of being one of only 2 teams in a league challenging for honours on 3 fronts every year. Rovers provide a decent home for him, we are simply a town club with a fabulous stadium, training facilities that are the envy of the biggest European clubs, a club that is run correctly (most of the time), a club that is solvent and a club with a tremendously proud history. Rangers are somewhat bigger than Rovers in their own right but if you look at the picture from a different angle then Rangers are no bigger than Blackburn Rovers, they are just on differing parallels. There are over 2million people in Glasgow there is substantially less in Blackburn/Darwen and Preston. Hughes has now a very delicate situation. He wants Ferguson to stay, he wants him in the team. Rovers fans may have various thoughts on this but the plain and simple fact is. is that Rovers need him alongside Savage. Rovers dont have to sell unless the price is right. So where does it leave us ? Personally I cant see Rangers publicly upping their offer but I see a lot of behind closed doors negotiating in the next 2 days. The ball is clearly with Gers, if they dont stump up they dont get. Its as clear as that. dado, you dont have access to rangers accounts do you ? I seem to recall that the last issued accounts for the club revealed a debt of around 65 million or roundabout. I know the rights issue raised around 52 million but only cleared around 39 million of the debts. By my estimation that would still leave a deficit of 26 million give or take a few million. a poor season in europe (again), an early exit in the cup (again) and quite obviously a far inferior team than that of your Glasgow neighbours (imo) leaves the attractiveness of rejoining rangers a loss less than it seems. rangers no longer have the monopoly in Scottish football. Celtic have bigger debts than you but on the pitch your a poor second to them. That is not a slant on you mate as I have read your views with interest. I just cant see how that attraction is bigger than playing in the English Premier League. -
