[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
Hughesy replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Thaskin wants top 6 at the least next season. With Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and then Pompey, Everton, Villa, Rovers. I think Man City will find that very tough, unless the spend alot more than the reported £50m. Jo is guna cost them £20m and Ronaldinho at least £10m. That leaves them with £20m. That will get them either Bentley or Roque. Looking at thier squad, that wont be enough for top 6. -
I think Berner was also brought in as back up to warnock who didnt have the best injury record pre Rovers. Berner was brought in as back up, Olsson was brought in as 'one for the future', Berner has gone, MH and his staff now obviously think Olsson is of a better standard and therefore capable to cover for Warnock if necessary.

I agree 100% the amount of times I have seen him on highlights since he left where he very nearly gives penalties or does give them is unbelievable. He is very dirty and he would pick up even more bad press for us. No thanks! Like Abbey said anyone of our players that runs to the bburn end and cups his ear is a muppet and should never ever play for us again.

Maybe Lucash will be contacting them this time, telling them "he wants to win medals".
-
Any news on Barcelona or Milan interested in signing him???

With such a massive global brand they will be fine. If they wanted they could quite easily make e millions more each year by going playing special matches like the one in saudi. They have the biggest brand in football and will always make whatever money they want. -
I think of our current crop of youth team the only ones close are Kane, Treacy, Olsson and Peter. The fact that none of them are out on loan at top championship clubs says alot about the quality of some of our youth players. Looked at Campbell for United, top scorer at Promotion chasing Hull.

Big difference between Tranmere and Premier league. Gallagher did well at Stoke the 1st time, look at him now.
-
Hansen & Shearer are ok - its Linekar that always wants to talk about the big 4 + tottenham.
-
Cant stand that Brand fella so I would not watch it for sure. I think the BBC should do a 'fair' show of each game. Maybe say a 10 min slot for each game/ analysis.
-
No mention by the panel that it was thier 1st loss at home this year and never mentioned Cruz' tally of 21. If it was Berbatov, Defoe or any of the bigger clubs then they would bang on and on about it!

[Archived] Craig Bellamy - Good Signing Or Not?
Hughesy replied to Modi's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Still think our club could get much more our of him than West Ham have. We seemed to more or less cure his injury problems but since he left they returned. Looking at West Ham, they are doing something wrong, they have far too many injuries. We could do with someone similar to him this summer. Think that Valencia fella at wigan would be a good signing but we would have to pay at least £7m to get him now. -
Bentley's Signed Boots.
Hughesy replied to B'burn End Row 10 Seat 160's topic in For Sale and Wanted
£380 is alot for his boots!! You will be lucky if you ever get that back -
Spot on Ricky. Given the chance he does the job - hence why he would be worth £2m.
-
My thoughts exactly – Derby are looking at paying £2-3m for Ghaly, we got over that amount for Kuqi and for someone like Bolton or a top championship side Mokoena could do a very good job. Yes he isn’t the greatest passer of the ball but when he had to cover for us earlier in the season, he did a very good job. He is an international captain with plenty of experience and im sure £2m is fair!
-
Correct - the previous England game, Bentley started and England created much more than last night - yes it was a poorer team but they still created alot more - and fact in that 1st game bentley created a good number of those chances. Beckham didnt create much last night - he can still pass a ball yeah (like Tugay) but his age isnt on his side and his creative part of the game wasnt as good.
-
Is that a fake story like wikidpedia?? please tell me is it!!
-
Bentley and Micah Richards should play on the right. As the guy on SSN is saying - Beckham should retire from international football. Gerrard and Hargreaves in the middle with cole on left, rooney and crouch together up front. England severly lack strikers other than Rooney.
-
How much could we seriously get for Mokoena? £2m a fair price would you say? or more in todays climate?

Robson next out the door - just in! -
Id go with B too - Mokoena isnt as bad as people are making out! When we were missing Reid & Savage at the start, he did a very good job for us. His job is defensive midfield, if given that task, he can do it very well - play him out of position and he cant! Simple really! I still think Morten can re-discover his talent. You dont just lose ability like that - he will come good!

[Archived] Matt Derbyshire
Hughesy replied to Proud to be a Cobbler's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Booooooooooooooo As for Derbs, he has talent, but he needs to bulk up, and if your being realistic, he shouldnt be in the team when we have 2 ex champions league players up front. He should get 30 minutes in every game though, unless we are doing well without him. -
[Archived] Blackburn End Drummers ?
Hughesy replied to ABBEY's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
How's about you all sing loud enough so that the drummer doesnt need to help us!! If we were really loud and had some proper football songs then there would be no need for him, however our songs lack originality. -
[Archived] Benni Mccarthy - Gone
Hughesy replied to adam lodge's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Anyone who thinks Benni should be dropped because of his attitude and replaced by Derbyshire is Crazy. Derbyshire isn’t yet good enough to play week in, week out, he doesn’t have much impact, he isn’t strong enough, and he isn’t willing to put many tackles in. To be honest if we could manage without (which at the moment we cant) then he would be best going on loan to a top championship team for a year, as it would benefit him in a rougher league. Yes he put a good cross in for Cruz last night, but that was about it! As for Roberts, he shouldn’t be at this club anymore, because he is pathetic. In summer when the likes of Fulham were interested, we should of sold there and then! IN JANUARY HE SHOULD BE SOLD!! No doubt about that. £3 million or more and goodbye! Roberts being unhappy is affecting others, kicking off because he isnt guaranteed a 1st team spot. Well tough sh!t! He isn’t good enough to command a 1st team place. We have stuck by him through 2 seasons of injury, now he expects to walk into the team in front of Benni & Cruz? Thanks but no thanks! Not a chance. In terms of ability, class, finishing, goal scoring, technique etc he isn’t even close to either of those two! Yes he did well against Fulham, upfront alone, but they aint the greatest team in the world either! I felt when he moved and I still feel the same way that he was coming to ewood for a couple of years (for his big wage packet), before he could run off to London at the end of his career. Fans giving Benni grief is wrong! Last year he was a sensation and ended up top scorer, hence the enquiries from Chelsea & West Ham. This year he has bagged another 8 goals so far, despite not starting off the season well. YES I agree he can be frustrating with little flicks and the fact he doesn’t chase the ball down all over the pitch, but that isn’t his game. He is an out and out striker, who if given a chance will score you goals. The problem with our team at the moment is the midfield. They are not doing there share of the defending and they are not creating enough chances for our strikers, Bentley being the Exception. -
Pedersen was still poor yesterday, the fact he wasnt the worst just showed how poor some of our performances were yesterday. Pedersen has been extremly poor all season and Id agree that a young lad should be given a game there to see what impact he can make, Treacy or Peter!
