Nothing creative? How many chances did Roberts have 2,3,4? -

I think that if Johnson had fallen naturally in the box then they would of got a penalty. I think it was the way that he stopped up and then when he realised the ball was going out of play he threw himself into the fall -

They didn’t have the 1st few rows of each stand, they were left empty and also at the top half they hadn’t quite filled it. How about a compromise - 5750 -

Not making an excuse for Todd because I also think he can be a liability, however he did slip. Gate was 22,000 – they had about 5000 there so id make that more like 17,000 home fans -

If I was Hughes then I would stick with the same back four, but possibly bring this new fella in for Ooijer for Todd, Unless Kishanishvilli could be shifted to play left back I don’t know?? Emerton will probably revert to midfield, however I would love to see him given that chance at right back again on Sunday. He is quite quick which would help when trying to stop Robben & co. As for savage – he puts in more work than anyone. I wasn’t his biggest fan, but the amount of bustling he does and closing down people is vital. If all our team chased the ball down like he does then the other team would be knackered by half time. He also helps to motivate the rest of our team into closing people down more. Pedersen – Needs a reality check. Now ok he may well do good on Sunday because he seems to perform against the big guns, but if he doesn’t pull his finger out then I think we should consider dropping him for a couple of games and see if that gets a reaction from him. Bentley & Peter are both capable of playing on the left so why not! -

Last season we picked up 1 point away @ pompey and 0 points @ home to Everton. So far we have picked up the same amount. Only difference being that I feel we are now looking a lot stronger than last year. Now ok we didn’t win the game but our front 2 looked very good together. Our defence coped quite well considering they were missing 2 first choice defenders, and possibly 3 depending on what this new Ooijer is like. Brett Emerton was quality at right back. He did a very good job defending and going forward and he made some very good challenges. He is also not scared to get stuck in and he is better than the rest of the defence at distributing the ball as he has played in midfield previously. Also I noticed he was communicating a lot with the rest of the back four. Lucas Neill your place is under threat!! Ha ha!!! Their goal – If anyone else notices, Todd slipped when they set off running and that was the only reason he was beaten to the ball over the top. For 70 minutes we looked good and very comfortable. We couldn’t hang onto the ball but I think that is because we missed Tugay. When tugay is playing he keeps the ball and controls the play, unfortunately without him we played a lot of the long ball, however he is only missing for 1 more game. After last night, which I actually thought we would of lost, I am very confident for the new season and I think we have a stronger squad. -

I too was glad when i saw Uriah reffing the game. He usually lets a few more tough tackles go, which will suit this game. Im confident that we can do them tonight. 2-1 rovers  Apparently at 1pm - Everton had around 2000 tickets left. So how many exactly were they given? 8000? -

According to today’s Lancashire Telegraph – Williams has said that we are still in negotiations over Ooijer and that it could possibly be done in time for him to be part of our team for Sunday’s game. Also on Sunday we will have Neill back will we not and also possibly Zurab? -
I heard that some pubs who were showing the game had delayed coverage by about 10 minutes to try and get round the rule of showing live football.

Everton were very lucky on Saturday to get 3 points against Watford. They had got a penalty from a header (which the referee saw as hand-ball) and then Watford had a cross stopped by a hand (which the referee gave as a corner)!! I predict rovers to get their sleeves rolled up for Wednesday and batter Everton, 2-0 Rovers with the likes of Reid & Savage really up for this game. I can see Benni & Roberts wanting to impress the home crowd. -

Last season we lost our 1st game to a team of newcomers 3-1. This year we lost to an established premier league side who are now rich 3-0. Don’t worry – it’s the 1st game of the season. Last season we only won 1 of the first 6 games. Im sure we will beat that this season. Once our team gets over a few little injuries then we will be back to top form. -
Sky own the rights to English premier league football within England. Foreign channels also have rights to the matches but only have the right to show them in their own country. So therefore the likes of Al-Jazeera can’t show live games here, by law. As for selling rights to pubs, that’s what sky do. Whatever games they haven’t got selected therefore shouldn’t be on in local pubs.
-
According to the Telegraph – The Adelphi on the boulevard. I wonder how many will risk it now that the police are involved!? For away games I don’t think they will crack down on it as much to be honest.
-
Shame the police hasn’t released a number for this to be able to telephone in and let them aware of which pubs this is taking place in. I suspect that if all pubs in the area lost the channel or were forced not to be able to use it then we would find an extra few thousand in ewood for games. Say we get an extra 2000 fans through the gates – Yeah ok its only worth around £40k per game (if you base it on £20 per ticket) but if you take into consideration that it could be usually be on TV for say 10 - 15 home games then you are talking about an extra £400,000 - £600,000 in ticket sales alone and then you have to take into account all the money spent at the ground by the extra 2000 fans. Which if they usually go to the pub then you would expect beer sales to increase quite abit. I agree with the comment also - those 'fans' who 'drink in the action' outside Ewood on the cheap need to weigh up whether they are doing the right thing by the team they presumably purport to support. YOUR TOWN, YOUR TEAM!! SUPPORT THEM!
-
So what do people think about this? Do they agree with the clubs stance and think its about time something was done about it?
-
‘KILLING US’ – That’s the headline from today’s front page of the Lancashire telegraph. Basically it’s an article about the foreign ‘illegal’ TV channels that are showing live matches in this country. The channels have rights to the matches; however they don’t have the rights to screen them in this country. John Williams believes it is stopping many fans from going to the ground and he has written to Alastair Darling, secretary of state for trade and industry. Landlords face fines of £5,000 and possibly a revoke of their licence if they ignore the warning and carry on screening matches. Today Blackburn police and the FA have said they will step up their enforcement of the law and pubs have already been sent letters warning them. Personally I say well done to rovers for sticking up for their rights. I know some people cant afford, however I know a lot of people who can afford but simply don’t go because they know they can watch it at the local.

[Archived] Is The Premiership Becoming Boring?
Hughesy replied to PL Project's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Not boring no. I quiet enjoy watching other clubs trying to catch Chelsea despite their billions and I don’t think it will be long off before someone does catch them. The premier league itself is a quality league and the competition for 4th – 8th is fierce and its something that we are currently involved in. So NO not bored with it. The only thing I would like to see added to the premier league is Celtic & Rangers -
Great news - So far this summer we have had Nelsen, Reid & Pedersen all signing 4 year deals. We just need Neill to sign up now too.

3-1 Rovers - McCarthy to show his class again. Pedersen 1 & McCarthy 2 -
Did anyone notice the new bottle bars in the Blackburn end? They weren’t working for the friendly but apparently from this season we will be able to get bottles of beer from small bottle only bars. Basically the new bottle bars won’t sell anything – you will simply present your voucher (which you can buy from other bars, prior to kick off or whatever) and then in return you are given your bottles of beer. Great idea – No messing with change, no long orders and hopefully a lot smaller queues. It should therefore help sell more beer on match days. Well done Rovers!

Two things the club should imrove to try and slightly increase sales: Town centre outlet for tickets Improved communication - Yes they have improved greatly but they are still short of top class
