  1. Did he look quality when he screwed up and allowed Kanu to score the first goal yesterday? Players of the opposition always look better because you don't watch them every saturday and see all of their mistakes. Our defence needs to be worked on, but I have no doubt that in them we have several good premiership defenders.
  2. Well he's gone one step towards making up for being a little off.
  3. If he starts getting us into the box regularly we might actually get one
  4. Neither of those are as good as them beating us though
  5. Why do politics even have to come into this?
  6. He's only here until January, with the possible option for an extension, because the club want to see how he does. It shows that we are the ones dictating the terms of this deal, if he had his way and was just here for a final paycheck, I'm sure he'd be on a lucrative two year deal.
  7. Wasn't Perez Corsican? I know it is a part of France, but he would probably be quite insulted to be called French.
  8. Oh and by the way, was just thinking about it. Last time we had a similar sort of signing? Our current manager, and he didn't do too badly did he
  9. Getting to the point about "got on Souey's back for signing 30 year olds". If Hughes continues to sign players of this age, and makes them our major signings, then no, I won't be happy. However, Hughes has read the situation, sees we need some creativity, and with the transfer window closed, he has gone out and got the best available player, it makes perfect sense.
  10. Can we please close this topic? Things like this should just be added to post match discussions and other topics, there is really no need.
  11. How often do we play them?
  12. Because our team had no idea what was going on in that last bit Oh come on, I mean it's not nice to go out of the cup, but it's really not that bad.
  13. Is it all over?
  14. All I can say is that Souey's successor at least does much better in the press. So far not only did Hughes get the result we needed, though Im not going to get carried away with that, but everything he says in the press is exactly what I want to hear as a Rovers supporter. From his post-match comments to how he sees the situation in general.
  15. Well the club has tried lowering the price quite often. What was the response like? It may be worth trying, but would have to be done carefully, because unless the fall in price caused a large rise in attendance, we could see a massive fall in revenue. The key really, as was touched on earlier, is finding out who the supporters are who have left, who the supporters are in the region who are possible targets, and why these two groups aren't coming.
  16. He's just finding his level. Which is obviously a few divisions below where he is now. No no, I'm sure he'll end up being a good coach or manager.
  17. No matter what the club does, games like the one on wednesday will always be watched by a small crowd. It's all about getting the Premiership gates up, even if we were Manchester United, the difference between the number of their supporters who would go to a game against a Premiership side versus a cup game against a 2nd or 3rd division side in the early stages of the tournament would be massive. There will never be the interest there.
  18. And remember that I'm not completely English, and grew up in the United States. I'm not having a go as such, just telling it how I see it
  19. Perhaps. Americans take it though. Patriotism and self confidence very regularly turn into falt our arrogance in your country. This seems to be a theme on the messageboard at the moment. I'm really not trying to have a go, just I've seen a lot of this sort of stuff from living in America and now being surrounded by a lot of Americans. It serves you well in many things, but it is damn annoying.
  20. I really think the clubs transfer policy has nothing to do with the fall in attendances. We could be signing players from amateur leagues, and if they went out their and did the business the fans would come back. I really do feel it's all about the results, and quite frankly, over the past 18 months, the club just haven't been getting them on a consistent basis.
  21. Why do we care about the Geordies? I hope Souey unleashes all of his plans up there.
  22. Very well said. Just keep it to a Matteo discussion or something. He plays for us now, no need for it to be brought up over and over again.
  23. The sad state of football is that every club needs its fairweather supporters. So no matter how much those of us who would stick with the club through thick and thin dislike them, the club really needs to go out and win them back.
