Not having a striker lined up is baffling. We have never replaces Szmodic. When Ohashi was signed last year, Eustace referred to him as the Telalovic replacement (similar outlay). Gallagher went and Makhtar arrived (clearly like for like). Szmodic left and no replacement. Leonard isn't reliable injury wise and Tyjon isn't going to lead the line. There is a serious lack of goals in the side.

Can see what type of players VI is targeting. Big athletic players that can carry the ball and cover the ground. Fingers crossed they can hit the ground running. If we can get Baradgi over the line and add a decent Rw we should have enough to survive next season. But this also depends on no more key outgoings. Realistically, Tronstad doesn't have much of a transfer value given his age. It therefore makes sense to keep him for another year and I think that's what we will do. Trav, on the other hand, would command around a £3-4m fee and is clearly not signing a new contract so we have to cash in if a bid comes in near that price. He will want to go and earn more given this will be his last big pay day.

But surely those League 1 seasons wouldnt be measured in the same £39m per 3 years framework? Similar to if a club has been in the Premier League where I think its £105m over 3 seasons. If a club has been in the Premier League twice and Championship once over 3 seasons, it would be £35m + £35m £13m = £83m permitted losses. Surely each year within the 3 comes under the FFP framework of the league they were in at the time.

Can't say I know anything about Miller from Hibs, but on paper it seems like a decent signing. I just wish these deals weren't always just to replace an outgoing player, as it always feels like the club are just playing catch-up. Real shame to lose Brittain, who after an initial 18 months of being very inconsistent seemed to really kick on last year and became a key player, arguably the best RB in the league. The club have massively fumbled his contract, as I suspect they will for Travis and Tronstad as well. Notice how talk of Hyam signing a new deal has gone quiet again? He'll be another one that walks for nothing. I suppose at least the club are getting some money for Brittain. Hopefully Miller and Alebiosu are enough to cover the RB spot.

For what it's worth, we spent the day in Haugesund yesterday and went up to the ground to have a look, they leave it open so tourists can have a walk in and sit in the main stand. The bloke working there noticed my lads rovers shirt and struck up conversation with us about Tronstad and how much he is loved there, they knew about his contract situation and seemed to think he will do one more year here before moving back, his wife still spends most of her time in Haugesund they were telling us.
