hawkiiz Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I should have put it, as they have their doubts on Ince blowing all the money. but he cant blow a penny. its williams and his friends who do the deals.

philipl Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 JAL, how do you manage to post so much inaccurate negative stuff?
nicko Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 This is from the Manchester Evening News on City...I can't stop smiling. I don't think Roque is going there. Do you? The issue is frozen money and whether any of it can be used on team rebuilding. Not many of the deals that have happened over the last 12 months involve British players because those fees have to be paid within a year. Eriksson's replacement as manager Mark Hughes - ironically the original recommendation by Wardle to Thaksin before the appointment of Swede Eriksson - had little to do with the signing of the club's record buy Brazilian Jo. The deal for him with CSKA Moscow involved a small down- payment believed to be £4m with the rest spread out over future seasons.
Silencio Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I read somewhere that they still owe 30 million to clubs from last summer's transfers + 15 million for Jo.

JW and Hughes were the perfect match. I should imagine at this time they both miss each other quite a bit.
Hughesy Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 You can already see it. Thaskin gets sent down, sells City. City are left with huge debts, a rented stadium + £45m in unpaid transfer fees - Priceless! For everything else theres mastercard.
almuncle Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Poor Sparky. If you are really struggling for a striker at the start of the season we can loan you one of ours.....Robbie get your boots!
nicko Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 City are playing with mobile phones here... you know when you get a contract phone you want simply because it's new and doesn't cost anything up front... then after 18 months you're sick to death of having to still pay for it! City could well regret doing this, they really seem to dicing with death here. Do all clubs do this, nicko? I don't think there has ever been so much money around in the Premier League... And yet to many clubs are up to their eyes and beyond in debt. This summer is the craziest and most depressing I have ever known.
philipl Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Ince has said he is looking to attack with pace. I know its the wrong side but time to look at buying Petrov from City?

Most clubs stagger payments but if you are going to stagger 47 million then you have to know you are going to have enough for the payments in years to come. City obviously don't. Makes you think twice about the desperation some people have for a takeover at Rovers, most owners are NOT in it for the right reasons even if they are genuinely enthusiastic at the time they buy... City are definitely up the creek by the looks of things...
AJW Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 NICKO saturday's game against breda , will there be any new faces in before then? will carlos be fit enough to play?
nicko Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 NICKO saturday's game against breda , will there be any new faces in before then? will carlos be fit enough to play? Annan maybe. Sable - possible trial game. Villanueva - probably best to keep him away from his mates if he has chicken pox. But you will probably see Robinson, Simpson and Fowler if you are lucky.

But you will probably see Robinson, Simpson and Fowler if you are lucky. Having seen Fowler twice attempt to play for the Rovers I don't think I would consider my lucky if he turned out on Saturday
philipl Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I doubt we could attract him - he's the sort of player Liverpool should have been looking at. Every time I suggest the sort of name I think the Rovers should be spending serious money on I get a "doubt he'd come here reaction". Then other supporters want the Trust to splash the cash just to prove they've still got hairy chests.
Texan Rover Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Any chance of Rovers having a look at Freddie Ljungberg, nicko?
Silencio Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Ljungberg would be as bad a signing as Fowler, steer well clear...
den Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Ince has said he is looking to attack with pace. I know its the wrong side but time to look at buying Petrov from City? Now that WOULD raise spirits around here. Just a bid would do it, - love to read the reaction from Eastlands if that were to happen!
CrazyIvan Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I don't think there has ever been so much money around in the Premier League... And yet to many clubs are up to their eyes and beyond in debt. This summer is the craziest and most depressing I have ever known. I agree with you. It's one of the reasons I am very glad I support Rovers. A well managed club with little or no debt which more-or-less balances the books year in year out. The huge money in the Premiership has got to end someday and those clubs with massive debts are going to struggle. Man U, Man City, Everton, Spuds, Fulham, Liverpool, etc could find themselves in serious trouble and it'll be interesting to see what happens over the next 10 years.
roversmum Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I think his underpants are too tight......(Ljungberg)
Head Rover Heels Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Villanueva - probably best to keep him away from his mates if he has chicken pox.The thing with Chicken pox is that most of us contract it when we are little, but it doesn't necessarily come out in everyone immediately. Once you've caught it, the virus can hide away in your spine, and when it appears in later life it is usually because of stress, or when extremely run down. Mine surfaced when i was 22 and i came home to find a burglar stood in the living room. Nice. My only fear with this is that it may have only surfaced in Carlos due to the stress of the move - New country, new club etc. The club needs to do everything they can to make sure this lad settles - It's not a good start for him, Chicken pox gets worse the older you are - He'll not be feeling very good about himself at all right now, and if he's already stressed...

City are definitely up the creek by the looks of things... Yep, the chunk of every gate that goes for the Stadium makes the gate income the club can use about the same as Rovers. That makes them a very unappealing proposition to any investor with those debts still there and Mr Joorbachian attached to some of the more marketable players. This comment will stir things but I'll suggest the Man U don't know how they are going to pay the GBP90m+ overhang of future payments for their more recent acquisitions/loanee either. I think his underpants are too tight......(Ljungberg) Ah yes, there's that panther tattoo which caused him to miss 6 games for the Arse because of an allergic reaction...
almuncle Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 I think his underpants are too tight......(Ljungberg) Looking at the photo ,I think his head is loose
DingleBaiter Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 There will be blue murder if we don't invest some of the Bentley money in at least one good player with a name people recognise. Not sure the average Rovers fan knew the name RSC this time last season, other than Wiki or Youtube. Personally, I'd suggest the majority of Rovers fans would rather see a good player than an expensive, known player that flops. 'Blue murder' seems a bit alarmist. 'Big name' players usually equates to big bucks, which we're not likely to spend. Nicko - any news of the new reserve coach/manager yet? What's the latest with Cisse, he was a strong target this close season for the last regime, and his pace would still be a good asset surely? Just needs lots of Farleys Rusks for his calcium levels.
den Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 According to this article Hughes doesn't know anything about Corluka leaving. He says he'll have to look into it! Strange state of affairs Nicko?
