Mozzer Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 i watched that Al-Habsi last season-he was really good.hes actually unlucky not to be bolton's number 1 this season-because the way he performed last season could have warranted him to be.. if anything happened to paul robinson i personally wouldnt feel comfortable with jason brown-so i can see why paul ince might be showing a interest in Al-Habsi..

Bobby G Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 We have only seen 45 minutes of Brown in action against Wigan. He was fabulous but we maybe that was one performance out of the books. Habsi is a solid keeper, and definitely good enough to be a starter for at least 5 or 6 sides at this level if not more.
Torgeir Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 He has only made 16 appearances for them, so nobody's really had a good enough look at him. . He played for Lyn in Norway before that though and was outstanding.

He looked to have a lot more than Robinson does when he was playing last season (althought that could have been a flash in the pan).
RevidgeBlue Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 A scoop by the man zac... To be fair the LT scooped this one two or three days before the Everton game. Bit of a collector's item if it actually comes off.
my_name_is_Earl Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Al-Habsi is a good keeper. I'd say he could easily get in the bottom ten's first team as first choice. Now that not might sound great but he's only being considered as a back-up. Sounds like a good choice for a reserve keeper.

I have seen Brown in action several times on preson and even though he is a good keeper to have as a back up however he certainly is not premiership standard yet.
Paulsman Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 From Leeds United site http://www.leedsunited.com/page/LatestNews...1375205,00.html Meanwhile, the club is also monitoring events elsewhere during the transfer window with the chairman revealing a possible windfall could be in the pipeline. "We have a sell-on clause on a player in demand at another club," he explained. "We were approached to take a figure to buy out the rights which suggests he may be set to move on. "We're happy to ride with it, see what happens and take our share." Milner?
bubblerrovers Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Ince has been on SSN, saying its been really difficult this window to bring in the right players or the players he wants. Is it difficult Mr Ince as most top players laugh at the idea of a trial?
roverfanuk Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 We need one big player to come in. Fowler, Andrews etc they are not! We need a Ireland or a Joaquín to come in! Ala Santa Cruz, Benni and Bellamy in past seasons... Without a doubt, RM is the area we need to improve on...
67splitscreen Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 In the same way that Carson was on his way to Stoke...and decided to go elsewhere. That one is not dead yet. Nicko, Pennant where ever he goes, you have mentioned that there are problems with valuations. I'm pretty sure this would have been noticed before, but if not then maybe this is one of the problems. Arsenal, have add ons and a sell on clause, how unusual. Pennant signed for Liverpool on 26 July 2006, on a four year contract for a fee of £6.7 million, potentially rising to £8 million with add-ons. It is understood that Arsenal will receive around 25% of the fee.
Bobby G Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Impossible for Arsenal to have a sell on clause that is still active seeing that he has moved twice already!
roverfanuk Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 SkySports Transfer Watch: 14.08 Stephen Ireland insists he has never wanted to leave Manchester City and is determined to grasp his chance under Mark Hughes.
67splitscreen Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Impossible for Arsenal to have a sell on clause that is still active seeing that he has moved twice already! It's not so much the sell on clause, as to who he signs for next, but the add ons if he stays, 1.7 mill, are probably for appearances which he may be nearing, so Brum would get more and Arsenal in turn there share. So pennant could soon be a 8mill player on Liverpools books. So they want him out.
Cally Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 It's not so much the sell on clause, as to who he signs for next, but the add ons if he stays, 1.7 mill, are probably for appearances which he may be nearing, so Brum would get more and Arsenal in turn there share. So pennant could soon be a 8mill player on Liverpools books. So they want him out. Nonsense. The sell on clause ends after one move.
modes98 Posted August 26, 2008 Author Posted August 26, 2008 Impossible for Arsenal to have a sell on clause that is still active seeing that he has moved twice already! They probably had one for his move from Brum to Pool, but as you say they can't have one now. Not sure where you got that from 67 but it's wrong, unless they mean Brum have a sell on. edit: Arsenal got 25% of the £6.7m and would get 25% of any add ons paid to brum. Not any of any new deal.
ffan Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 HERE, HERE !!!!!! What's wrong with Grella? Is he not a better version of Mokoena?
nicko Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Hi Nicko, rumours doing the rounds that Everton target Stephane Mbia is now also a target for Blackburn and Newcastle? Too expensive. Injured. Apart from that, every chance. To be fair the LT scooped this one two or three days before the Everton game. Bit of a collector's item if it actually comes off. It was a Daily Mail scoop to be fair.
sparkspakespoke Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Not sure why some people seem so depressed by Grella. As Ffan says he offers a big improvement on the Axe. As long as the fee is reasonable it seems like decent business to me.
nicko Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 AL-HABSI - Told you yesterday, Rovers asked and Bolton said no. IRELAND - Those 'happy to stay' quotes were before he found out that SWP could be coming. Wonder what he thinks now. PENNANT - Birmingham may be due a sell-on slice if there is one...but as he will cost LESS than they paid that is unlikely to apply. As it happens, Arsenal would then get a slice of their slice. But neither will...if you follow.
blue and whites Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 how is mbia too expensive? rovers do have the money don't they?.. even tough i would take joaquin over mbia anyday.
67splitscreen Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Nonsense. The sell on clause ends after one move. Yes, Birmingham to Liverpool, end of sell on clause, but the add ons if he stays at Liverpool will kick in, 1.7mill. (hence Rafa want's shut) What I am saying is Rovers have offered 4mill Liverpool want 6mill. If he does not go this window, then the add ons could kick in making him 8mill player on Liverpools books. So could they recoup that money in January say, when 6mill is a hard sell now.
Silencio Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Hope we do sign Al Habsi, a better keeper than Robinson. Looks to me like Ince doesn't really know what we need and if we don't sign a good replacement for Bentley he is going to make it even harder for himself. Fingers crossed he signs somebody good enough...
nicko Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 how is mbia too expensive? rovers do have the money don't they?.. even tough i would take joaquin over mbia anyday. Rennes are very wealthy and want about £9 million - maybe more. Not sure he is that good.
Mozzer Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 are blackburn still looking at joaquin?? when is keith andrews due for a medical??
