budha Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Not huge news, but Rovers transfer related anyhow.. Big Sam hopes for no Santa bids, Blackburn yet to receive any offers for striker
philipl Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 The only one not posted yet: Veteran Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia is fast becoming the most wanted man in the January transfer window - Stoke, Fulham, Sunderland, Blackburn and Tottenham all see him as a cut-price option to bolster their defensive options. budha Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Mark Hughes and Manchester City make move for Santa Cruz City have finally established formal contact with Blackburn as they look to secure the signing of Santa Cruz in a deal worth in the region of £15 million. John Williams, the Blackburn chairman, was quoted yesterday lunchtime as saying that he had yet to receive a formal offer from City for Santa Cruz, but contact has since been made between the clubs at boardroom level, with Hughes hopeful that a deal for the Paraguay forward can be concluded sooner rather than later.
philipl Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Here is this morning's Lancashire Telegraph article. Diouf was a priority but it looks like he is now wanted by Sunderland and is staying there; it reads as though he was a target as much as anything because it looked like he was available which is the reality for all January window activity unless a club is going in at a price way over the odds. Significant paragraph at the bottom given it is an article from this morning- no contact from Man City.
micktheblue Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Text from 88442: Blackburn Rovers can confirm recieving a bid from Manchester City for striker Roque Santa Cruz. The bid has been rejected.
philipl Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 To underline how difficult it is for Rovers to sign anybody this window: Be Haim agent told to open talks with Spurs about £3m move. I will be very surprised if Spurs are not delighted.
unleaded Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 This Diouf saga could rival the Savage one from a few years ago................. Will he ?..........Wont he?.............
philipl Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 This Times article is an extremely well balanced reflection on the Roque situation and on the City failings. To give you an idea of how screw ball the Mail's current reporting on Rovers matters is, read this piece on Ben Haim then read the piece in post number 35 above. I am not going to post a link to it because all kinds of horrible things happen when you go on the Star website but they reckon City will not go to £18m and therefore it looks likely Roque is staying put. Typical Sun- the headline bears no relationship whatsoever to the story about Rovers/Roque/City! Love the bit where it says Rovers will bid £20m for Bellamy and Parker. A Grauniad sub-editor slumming it at the super soaraway?
philipl Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 BBC report includes video of Hughes. Doesn't have the demeanour of a man who is confident of getting his transfer targets.

the swede Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Any chance of a translation?? I used Google's "Language Tools". "The Sport Lisboa e Benfica - Futebol, SAD received and accepted an offer from Blackburn Rovers, emblem that militates in English Premier League, to release his player, Marc Zoro, for a week, for a trial period. Marc Zoro, internacional da Costa do Marfim, integra o plantel do Benfica (ao qual chegou em 2007/08). Marc Zoro, the Ivory Coast international, is the squad's Benfica "

(Daily Mail) City will have to offer £18m, or Daniel Sturridge, if they wish to sign Santa Cruz this month. (The Guardian)

philipl Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 MEN on City's transfer targets is a good chuckle. "Meanwhilst other clubs further down the league are being stubborn and unrealistic about transfer prices."
Ronin Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Official text says we've signed 19 year old striker Nick Blackman from Macclesfield for an undisclosed fee. Link to official site: http://www.rovers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/New...1516774,00.html
