We can only watch on with envious eyes as Ewood drowns in acceptance and apathy 4 Quote

Tomphil2 Posted Tuesday at 11:23 Posted Tuesday at 11:23 The core now is largely made up of ageing fans who've seen us middle of the road then great, then good and then just back to being middle of the road so they accept it as normal. And younger fans who've just grown up with what we are now - as the likes of me did in the mid 80's / early 90's and haven't seen anything different. So just accept it alongside falling for the 20 mill a year line. Many many of the passionate fans have actually got so angry with everything they've just walked away odd game aside because the whole thing has been hopeless. 3 Quote

The town itself doesn't help with the matchday experience, growing up there were so many pubs etc to visit and the town was absolutely booming. Saturdays shopping in town would be a write off - because rovers were at home! Now? 90% couldn't care less the town has moved on from the club and they have distanced themselves. 4 1 Quote

Missing out from away fans contributing as well. Club benefits from fleecing big followings but aside from the Fernhurst and a few taxi drivers not much else makes the most of it. Blackburn was the central focal point of East Lancs and far beyond for football, shopping and day/night out. What is it now ? Town and club absolutely mirror each other as shells of their former selves. Edited Tuesday at 13:40 by Tomphil2 Quote
JHRover Posted Tuesday at 13:41 Posted Tuesday at 13:41 Many people have given up on Blackburn as a town and moved away to other areas, rarely coming back unless it is to visit the hospital etc. Make no mistake there are thousands of such people who are or were regular Ewood visitors, together with many thousands more who have never lived in Blackburn or Darwen and instead have always been based in other areas or regions yet have travelled to Ewood for matchdays. Sadly Rovers have made a decision to give up on such people and areas. In my opinion one of the most unforgivable and damaging acts of an extremely damaging group of people. 5 Quote

Would love to conduct a town centre survey and pose questions to the general public. Quote

Very sad but very true with regard to distance between club and town. Partly down to demographic and the town certainly hasn’t moved on in any positive way. Blackburn used to be a really top Friday / Saturday night with cracking, numerous and heaving pubs but today, there is hardly a town centre pub left. 1 Quote

Blackburn used to be a really top Friday / Saturday night with cracking, numerous and heaving pubs but today, there is hardly a town centre pub left. The town has been systematically deprived for over 40 years. The only thing keeping the town alive really was the football club. Since venkys came and destroyed it the whole town has gone completely down the toilet like many other similar towns across the North of England. The nightlife was absolutely banging until the government decided to heavily crack down on underage drinking meaning the 16-17 year old students from Blackburn college and St Marys that were the lifeblood of that scene now couldn't get in anywhere whereas previously the pubs and clubs would look the other way. Combined with the deliberate efforts to deprive the town economically, leaving the majority of people without any money for a night out, the town is completely dead. The only thing that put the town in any kind of spotlight and garnered any kind of outside attention was the football club. As I've said previously, if you have any pride in the town or the football club then you absolutely despise venkys and anyone or anything associated with them. The detrimental effect they've had on the town is immeasurable and they are a huge reason for the place being as shit as it is. Edited 51 minutes ago by Upside Down Quote
