Go on I'll bite. If it comes true then personally I'll think there was some substance to it this time, but looking at other posts you'll still have doubters. So to allay that, care to throw any more meat on the bone? Nationality, initials, what league they're from, something like that? Quote

And then he’ll dine out on it for years allowing him to peddle more absolute tripe How sad you are. 1 hour ago, Emerald Isle Rover said: So your initial post says a new signing processed/unveiled at brockhall today then your update says a deal is close……..which is it a done deal as initially suggested or not? Talk about splitting hairs! A deal is done when the contracts are signed. My initial post said "supposed to have been", my second post said "deal is now close" (ie close to completion, contracts signed etc). Is that so difficult to understand? Well I will not "peddle more absolute tripe" (as some on here think) as I simply do not need the aggravation. Edited 26 minutes ago by Mercer Quote
roverandout Posted 26 minutes ago Posted 26 minutes ago Why waste money on a bang average player like Gardner-hickman when we desperately need it for a striker Quote

I think this window there will be a net trading surplus on player trading. Will be no surprise to see either Toth or Alebiosu, or even both, sold. Our target market will be desperados, loans that cost almost feck all (as Cashin) and cheap unproven imports from Europe. Now you're saying we have a striker about to sign, have you changed your mind on all this from 8 hours ago? Quote

"I think this window there will be a net trading surplus on player trading" - what do you think this means? It simply means we will sell players for more money than we spend on new signings! It DOES NOT mean we WILL NOT sign any new players! Are we clear now? Edited 17 minutes ago by Mercer Quote

So realistically, including this loan, it could be a four year deal. If it includes an extra year, it would essentially be a three and a half year deal, as I assume we are talking 2 years from the pending summer. Which is more palatable, though I'd still say it should be a three year with an option, which is a max 4 and a half year deal. The first part of the loan really doesn't count. He was injured for the majority of it, and not yet our player. Signing him now is more like how renewing a contract would work in terms of the deal length you'd offer, you wouldn't be thinking about their previous time of service, you go from the point of the new contract kicking in, which is now. And you wouldn't give a 2.5 year deal to a player with his profile unless your hand was forced. As I say, 3.5 including an option is more agreeable and no longer ridiculous, but not what I'd have done. Quote

I was just asking if you still believed that, or if the info you're saying you heard has changed your mind on that. Quote
