  1. So according to Nixon we haven't completed the deal because we haven't got the money yet. I mean, I hate to be boring but that makes sense. It's usually a game of dominoes when transfers happen. For all we know his team have kicked up a fuss but what can we do if we've yet to receive the money?
  2. Maybe we were signing his Mom (makes sense, she followed us). Rovers found out she wasn't on the plane so they ended the deal.
  3. If it's true and we have pulled out of the deal for the American then for all we know there could be a good reason that benefits/affects our club i.e. someone better, terms were unrealistic, Wharton deal off so can't afford it. I'll wait for some clarification before assuming the worst.
  4. I'm the complete opposite. I hope he ends up an influencer, drunk, on drugs, and broke. Then we can laugh at how much money we've made! 😉 Just kidding. I hope he smashes it.
  5. McFadzean ticks the following boxes: Experience needed ✔ Leadership on and off the pitch needed ✔ Good in the air for set pieces ✔ Can play in back 3 ✔ Already has an understanding with Hyam ✔ Short term deal to cover injuries ✔ Takes pressure and responsibility away from younger players who aren't ready for it ✔ I'm not claiming this is some incredible signing that we've managed to pull off and we're going to dominate the Championship. It just makes sense based on what we're struggling with at the moment. The last point I made I feel is important because we have a young squad who are learning and still developing. He could be the difference that turns a negative result into a positive one.
  6. I think it's an excellent signing. As the above + it also means we can take our time in the summer to recruit the right people rather than pay a fee well over market rate in the next 24hrs for a player we may not have done our due diligence over that might cost us in the long run.
  7. The funny thing about football is that Adam Wharton is going for £22m and we're gutted that he's leaving on the "cheap" to Palace but if Palace came in for Szmodics and offered the same we would probably think it's a fair deal 😂
  8. Someone fire up the dusty fax machine, bring in a proof reader, and adjust the clocks backwards at Ewood by an hour to give us the best chance of bringing in a player before the deadline.
  9. This is classic football reverse psychology. We are slagging him off now before he signs so that he goes on to prove us all wrong. Come the end of the season, we'll all be wearing red, white and blue Uncle Sam outfits, waving American flags, chanting USA! USA! USA! while pledging our allegiance to the Flag of the United States and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
  10. I think Wharton actually suits the Premier League more than the Championship. He will thrive with better players around him. At least he'll go and play games at Palace and continue to develop rather than move to a big club just to play in the reserves for 5 years. I think he could still have moved to a better team and played regularly in the summer but good luck to him.
  11. Oh god, I thought I was just being over dramatic. Saying that, I mouthed off Szmodics when he first signed so what do I know??? 🤣
  12. From what I've seen from the American guy, he couldn't control a balloon without it bouncing 5 yards off his foot.
  13. It will be interesting to know whether he wants to actually go to Palace or whether he's basically being told to go by the club. Someone quickly tell him what it's really like and that it isn't anything like AFC Richmond.
  14. I'm pleased he's getting an opportunity in the Premier League but what a boring move.
  15. Great to see Tom Atcheson come on again last night. Bit nervy but good experience for him!
  16. Excellent win. Our league form and confidence vs theirs meant it was set up to be a banana skin game. In the end we could have scored 7 or 8. Thankfully it means we will only see Blackburn for 5 seconds on Welcome to Wrexham instead of an entire episode.
  17. How long is Pickering out for again? That left side definitely needs him.
  18. I can think of many fan favorite's from Rovers who have left slightly bitter and not even bothered with saying goodbye. It's a credit to James and his family that he's come across as a really top guy throughout his short time at the club. The backroom staff all seem to really like him too. I'm sure whatever he goes onto do in football, us Rovers fans will keep an eye out for him as well.
  19. I think it's great that we drew Wrexham considering how popular they've become in recent years. I've enjoyed their TV show (only seen season 1 so far) and it's great that their main core fan base are getting rewarded with owners that seem to be giving a lot back to the club and community while coming across as respectful while doing so. They're owners we would all love to have engage with us fans - I mean, at this point I'd take our owners just flipping their middle fingers at us just so we can see any communication! More importantly, I also see it as a good opportunity for us to go through to the next round and to make some memories and much needed money that could help towards funding another non-scoring striker on deadline day 😂 I am hoping it's a great game, good atmosphere, and an easy win. Let's make sure we feature on an episode with us looking like the Holly(e)wood stars.
  20. I am probably definitely in the minority here but I still think if Gallagher got fit (I know I know) and was just told to focus purely on being the number 9 striker and do NOTHING else but be a selfish p***k in front of goal then I think he could still turn it around. I'd even tell him to come into training and just kung-fu kick Doris the tea lady on a daily basis just to lose the nice tag he has. I think the issue is that we need to recruit a few players who are willing to flip out and be more aggressive in the changing room. We have a bunch of really nice guys representing the club. As much as I love the group we have, you need someone to get stuck into them on the pitch. We don't have that and it shows when the heads drop.
  21. If they were all suddenly transparent, in particular historical transfers and wages, then I'm sure a lot of clubs might get exposed for dodgy dealings 😂 I think the MLS show their salaries due to various capping rules and regulations. I remember seeing one good player for Seattle Sounders on less than me a year and I felt very sorry for him considering he was one of the better players at the time.
  22. I feel like i'm back at school having to show my workings out 😂 https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/fa-handbook
  23. I always want former Rovers players to do well, especially when they're liked by the supporters, but you can't help but think this move mirrored Connor Mahoney and Callum Wright's moves to the Premier League. Tottenham were never going to play him, we all saw it, but unfortunately it's hard to turn down a move to the Premier League to stay at a club like ours. The annoying thing is that had he stayed with us for another couple of seasons, he would have gained good valuable match experience and would have moved to the Premier League anyway and most likely to play each week there. Now he will bounce around the teams in the Championship on loan (if he does well) until he's sold on when he no longer qualifies as a youngster when Tottenham enter what players need to be registered to play.
  24. Probably why there's so many issues when clubs can't agree to compensation! 😂
