  1. Money's no good if you can't buy a player to replace the one you lose. The timing of Liverpool's bid left us no chance of a replacement unless they'd let Warnock leave as part of the deal. That's the purely practical reason why it couldn't be allowed to happen. with time to thrash out a deal if anyone wants Neill in Jan then it may well happen. Lucas Neill himself said it wasn't the right deal at the right time for us and he accepted that.
  2. I don't think he's not good enough is enough. He's not hardworking enough; he has mostly come on when the game's been going our way. I just don't see him as the player who can take a game we're losing by the scruff of the neck and turn it around. He never looks interested in doing any of the mundane jobs that need doing to help the team. I agree his positioning can be good but then his shooting is often not up to the same standard. If we'd progressed in the Carling Cup or if we draw relatively low level opposition in the early FA cup rounds then I'd expect to see him starting but at the moment I can't see why he'd keep any of our other strikers out of the starting line up.
  3. To be fair to Alan Green, who I don't often agree with, he asked the guy if he'd been watching the same game as him and when he then came out with the "Blackburn don't deserve to be in the prem and when they split the prem in half it will be great to be rid of teams like Blackburn", Green told him he was spouting rubbish and got rid of him fairly fast.
  4. I know my dislike of the guy is totally irrational but, hey, I'm female - we're not meant to be logical, are we?
  5. Don't know if it would be a good move football wise to sign him but I'd probably have to loan someone else my season ticket as I don't think I could stand watching him play for Rovers. There's something about him that makes my flesh creep and I can't understand the fascination he seems to have for other females. I'd have to stop listening to Rovervision interviews too as he makes David Bentley with his "I mean" every few seconds sound articulate. Have spent years making little girls re-cover their French exercise books whenever they tried sticking pictures of Beckham on them, so from a personal point of view I hope it really is just a pipe dream.
  6. Remember the time at Bolton where he sat with the fans, queued for drinks with everyone else and bought drinks for some of the fans.
  7. Tugay speaks perfectly good English but as someone else said he doesn't like interviews and so doesn't do them. Let his football do the talking. He has real respect for Rovers fans. My family are now on tugay watch to check when he's about to be subbed. we spotted the long walk some time ago and as soon as Tugay appears on our left we know he's going off!
  8. Personally I like the fact that the ground isn't all modern and state of the art. It's quirky and slightly scruffy on one side with real class on the others - a bit like the town and the people who go to the ground. It takes all sorts and there are those who really like sitting in the Riverside, some of them far posher and well-heeled than most of us. For them it's a bit of a retro thing - reminds them of where the club has come from and I don't see why we as fans or anyone else needs to apologise for that.
  9. Good. Having seen the backpeddling in the Italian league over the points deductions handed out, you start to feel that all anyone has to do nowadays is appeal and they automatically get their "sentence" reduced. About time someone found out it doesn't always work like that.
  10. Why would Rovers want a new ground? Clubs that have moved from their traditional base don't necessarily attract bigger crowds unless, like arsenal, they already have the fan base but can't expand their current ground to accommodate the people who want to go. Ewood is not hard to get to - the station's not far, buses go past and the access to the motorway for away fans is as good as anywhere else in Blackburn. And at least Ewood has character. All these soulless bowls they build now are what rob the grounds of atmosphere and the pitches have to be relaid year in, year out because they don't get enough light and air. The Riverside is cheap and while people are prepared to sit there, let them. Do think we might shove away fans in the corners of the Jack Walker stand though to help make it more difficult for them to support their teams.
  11. Ehiogu said last night it would probably be end of the month. Can we wait that long for Brett? Don't think many of us ever thought we'd be worried at the prospect of his missing 6 weeks of the season!
  12. Does this now mean that we might get some sympathy from the media? I won't hold my breath!
  13. Lack of a creditable opposition. They can basically say what they want and do as they want because they dominate football coverage in this country. When you hear what they charge the BBC and other stations just to show clips from games they cover you realise the ridiculous situation that has been allowed to develop in this country. We need a more level playing field and more competition then we might just get a better, less biased coverage.
  14. yes but one you can do something about - the other you can't and shouldn't want to. He should be able to be proud of being a black south African doing well in international sport particularly after the history of apartheid
  15. Nobody seems to have mentioned the part the pitch played in rovers performance. Not an excuse as Wenger tried to make it in Moscow but it just seemed very slow especially in the first half compared to the pitches in the Prem. It made slick passing very difficult as the ball seemed to slow down. Got better in the second half when the dew started forming and it got damp on top.
  16. According to Talksport UEFA have already said it will be difficult to find evidence. Cop out again! Yes, it's our word against theirs but it doesn't mean that it didn't happen and they should at least have the decency to carry out a proper investigation and not more or less wash their hands of it before they've even heard the details.
  17. Wasn't the quality of his grammar etc she was complaining about but the fact that like a large number of players here too, he couldn't string a coherent sentence togehter
  18. It's also probably Eid so any Asian heritage fans may have trouble attending. I know not many do but we do have some and more so when offers like this are on
  19. Only time I've ever been to Everton was when we secured our premiership status and so I didn't really care that the ground was rubbish. It was though and I'd agree that where they sit the away fans is worse than a lot of lower division grounds.
  20. Can't do or Charlton wouldn't be bottom of the league
  21. Can I just ask if all Bolton males are sexist? There are many on this messageboard, like myself, who are female, so could you please stop addressing your questions and comments to men and lads only?
  22. Think the same's true of Eastwood - perhaps not Prem but a very good Championship club
  23. Is that why they've moved the fixture - so we don't get our trainers dirty in the November rain?
  24. Think the agent comment is the most telling. I've long had the feeling that most of the "I want a change of scene" and "I need to go to a bigger club before it's too late" have been agent speak for "this guy's looking too settled and I haven't had my cut of a transfer fee for a while."
  25. No. Come in your PJs and bring your pillow because Bolton are still boring even if they did beat Newcastle.
