[Archived] Our Loaned Players In Action
OJRovers replied to FourLaneBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
It would be difficult for Warnock to leapfrog Cashley Cole in the England queue, but Phil Neville(?!) started against Spain last England game, so common sense says he might be close to getting a call. -
Yeah suppose its not the best result for Rovers... Lucas Neill was captain of West Ham today.
-
Brilliant !!! 3-4, watched Tony Cottee live "oh no, Spurs have scored..."
-
3-3 now
-
Did anyone else notice a lot of German guys in the blackburn section today? I saw Sergio outside on his phone to someone before the game too.

Not sure about that, he seems to get on with the other players (on the pitch at least), he might be a bit frustrating though not chasing balls down etc - Dunn was yelling at him at Arsenal. I'd think he would be mates with Samba, it must be good to have someone else from your home country when abroad. -
I don't think anyone who has seen them play will think they're too good to go down! Hopefully we can sink them even further by beating them at Ewood.

[Archived] Refs Are Biased By "big" Clubs

Another thing that gets me about Dowd is his lack of fitness - They might as well give Johnny Vegas a whistle and have him chase Tierrey Henry around for 90 mins. -

Fat Phil Dowd has always been rubbish. -

Its far too easy for the current 'club' of england players at the minute, they are bigger than the manager so have no-one to impress and no threat to their position eg Lampard, Rio, Gerrard, even Crouch. They get in the team no matter how well a) they are playing & other english players are playing. If he brought in some players like Barton, Nolan, Bentley(Rovers bias showing there), then at least Lampard and his chums would have to prove they are worth the starting place. At the moment people like J Jenas, K.Dyer, Carrick,Downing,SWP don't put any pressure on the team as non of them are in form themselves. If he could get scholes out of retirement that would help too! -

I agree Carrick is not good enough. A lot of Man Utd fans think the same too. -
Don't forget Jermaine Jenas... surely Bentley is more deserving of a squad place?

I don't agree with those saying that Lucash was right to look after his interests and take double the money. Yes, to the average person it would be a no-brainer say to take £50k a year instead of £25k A YEAR. But for the sort of money involved i.e £25k/£50k A WEEK I personally think that if you can't be happy on £25k a week playing in front of the Kop in the Champs League -then your not going to be happy at all. Would Lucas give a million to go down in the history of the game and (potentially) have some medals to show his kids? Or would he rather be forgotten about but a bit richer??

Probably friedal should be captain without all the others on that list. Maybe give it Emerton/Zurab if you want an outfield player.
-
I think he now deserves to be boo-ed mainly because he's trying to justify going for the money by saying: A) West Ham 'wanted him more' - Rovers made it clear they wanted him to stay - WE MADE HIM CAPTAIN!! B ) He's more likely to get 1st team football - He gets that at Rovers, at a higher standard. So thats why he deserves to be booed!

Neil Danns is there too - ex Rovers, they paid a couple mill for him (not from us obviously) -

With Fat Sam and Steve Bruce being friends - It wouldn't surprise me if Bruce had invited BFS to make a bid for Dunn - if nothing else but to push the price Rovers had to pay up. I'd love Rovers to play Birmingham this year in the cup with Dunn/Sav lining up for us! -

IF it is true then great news. I wonder what Bruce will say about that!!! even though Dunny had ''already decided to join Bolton'' -
I agree with that: - If he's our player he should be in the team as he is good (possibly at LB when Bentley is back). He played well against Arsenal and was one of the only ones getting stressed with their timewasting and injury-faking. BUT - IMO he shouldn't be captain, because he wants to leave. Give it Ooijer/Sav/Tugay

I would class him as a bit of legend, but different people have different ways in which people get legendary status in their eyes. On a purely footballing status, no but in my view there's a few reasons why for me he is: -Playing for Rovers, being part of beating Burnley 0-2 and 5-0 -Smashing a goal past Pete Schmichael -Still going out round blackburn with his mates, rather than buggering off to cheshire -Dating a glamour model! -Being down to earth still and have time to talk to fans -Doing our half time draw even when Brum were playing at the same time For these reasons I think he's a legend -
It will be good to have him back, i'll always remember an amazing 'big col-escq' tackle on Cristiano Ronaldo at OT, he got the ball cleanly and at the same time hammered Ronaldo 3ft in the air - awesome and I bet it bruised Ronaldo a bit, he stayed out of Nelson's way the rest of the game.

Picking up on something which has been mentioned earlier: If season ticket holders are objecting to cheaper ticket offers - then a few sweetners wouldn't go amiss - Eg 1 free pint / pie / coke in games which offers are made. Another idea which I talked about (and its been touched on above) is that there could be a first-come-first-serve policy for certain areas in the ground which could be snapped up in turn. eg £3 for all upper tier in Darwen End (if no away fans there) £5 for 2000 outer tickets in the JW lower/upper £5 for 2000 outer tickets in the Walkersteel In all this would add around 7000 to the gate which otherwise would not go. Once these tickets go thats it - normal prices. But this should be done for all games to encourage people to come back. If they are too slow then they may-MAY just buy full price seats.

I started a new job last week - I said to one Man Utd fan that I was a Rovers fan and the first thing they asked me about was the club shop i.e. why is it so rubbish. I also saw some Newcastle fans in there before the game who were looking surprised at how little stuff was available. Its a bit of an embarrasment to the club at the minute.

I wouldn't say that Nolan p[layed well, he gave it away and got skinned a few times. But then again so did McEverly (and the rest of the team)
