  1. He was a stubborn old goat who neglected the defence, favoured possession over 3 points, kept playing strikers on the wing, midfielders up front, and kept signing them to do so too. That stubborn that he threw away a fantastic opportunity for promotion because of his documented belief that we don't play with centre forwards, and that Ben Brereton would continue to stay fit and score in the second half of the season. Even though he knew he was due international duty and someone needed to fill his shoes. I can say that confidently, from five years of watching his teams continually fail, he was as pragmatic as a pair of glass socks. Even though I'm disappointed with JDT he's got a long way to go before we can label him as stubborn, foolish and illogical as Tony Mowbray.
  2. Brereton is due a goal. Every three games he plays like a superstar. I think on this occasion he'll save it till boxing day.
  3. Maybe wishful thinking from a Rovers fan, but I think with the last decade we've had our fair share of death spirals, injury lists and managerial tactical suicide dives to know how it can all go wrong.
  4. A better chance we'll keep George Hirst.
  5. We "chased" George Hirst all Summer for his signature as a loanee. You loaned Nathan Tella. Our new director of football certainly set his stall out with that one. I think that sums up the differences between the two clubs at the moment. One wants to add value to the club, the other wants to add value to players.
  6. It's difficult to judge the pair but Morton's had 16 games + 5 sub appearances. Wharton's played 6 matches + 3 sub appearances. Wharton is clearly more skillful but has played a lot less. Morton has been less spectactular but has played well this season. Recently his form has dipped - arguably since paired with Travis in midfield.
  7. They also take too many touches when they are under pressure. A moment later they are on the floor and the opposition has the ball.
  8. Against Preston at home we should have started with a back 4 from the off. A back five takes away anything good about Hedges and Brittain. And we don't have the midfielders to play with a back five so it shouldn't be an option.
  9. You'd need almost a full team to make it work. I remember managers in the past being fawned over by the media for them playing a passing game. "Doing it the right way." "Playing the game how it should be." Truth is their teams played terrible football and they all got their teams relegated eventually. Where are they now?
  10. Brittain will never be a left wing back. Hedges will never be a right wing back. Dack will never be a striker. Scott Wharton will never be a great passer, he may well turn out to be a great defender. I don't know what Travis is trying to be but it's a pale imitation of a footballer. Send Mola, Morton and Hirst back and bring in some experienced professionals. The only thing that JDT gets a pass for is he inherited such an unbalanced and thin squad, and he did at least want to sign some decent players but they went elsewhere. Broughton has to shoulder some of the blame for that, and for not identifying and fixing weaknesses in midfield and up front. If he doesn't rectify this in January then the writing is on the wall.
  11. Better off signing a left back as that's where he'll play him.
  12. This is his main problem with team tactics and with individual player roles.
  13. He does that, then scores a worldie. You don't take your top scorer off when you need a goal.
  14. Dack was playing further forward than he should. When he started playing a bit deeper he started contributing more to the game. JDT played him deeper in the Blackpool match and he played well. Then next game he put him further forward, he was crap and barely featured since. You'd hope that the manager would have looked at the two performances and taken away the obvious, but he didn't. Just like putting Brittain on the opposite side and Hedges at wingback. He expects too much from the players and doesn't seem to care or take responsibility for not getting the most from them.
  15. For all of his intelligence he does some downright stupid things. Out of position players even though he's seen it doesn't work. Hedges and Brittain as wing backs - Brittain on the wrong side. Hedges was playing well further forward, Brittain was playing great on his preferred side. He has no idea how to get a tune out of Dack. Could he not ask one of the coaches, or even a fan? No Ayala today. Takes top scorer Brereton off moments after we score a goal which he assisted. Continually playing a lightweight midfield, leaving Adam Wharton out altogether. Today he could have played 4-4-1-1, played everyone in their preferred positions and given Preston a game.
  16. Hyam and Brittain the only decent signings for me. Apart from the last two games Morton has done well but he’s a young lad, we shouldn’t be pinning our hopes on him, he should be here to contribute, not be the main man. According to Broughton it was a good window.
  17. He plays him all wrong. And he’s not the only one.
  18. And his inclusion meant that Dack had to play out of position. Hedges is put at the back. Britain put out of position to accommodate it. So two players out of position. Travis and Morton the weakest midfield pairing I’ve ever seen. Travis the worst I’ve ever seen him, and he’s had a few. Ayala on the bench. Adam Wharton allowed another derby day off. And he takes the top scorer off.
  19. Likeable bloke but his decisions are idiotic.
  20. Drop Travis. From the town hall roof preferably.
  21. Gregg “Hirst was our top target” Broughton.
  22. Tactical naivety on a simple google search scale.
  23. Fuck off Tomasson, get back to coaching school. And take Broughton with you.
  24. Get a goal back, take off the top scorer.
