Our Noisy Neighbours again!
booth replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
"Keep looking up... Oh, erm..." Remembering "fans" with PNE hats and scarves on in the Nutall Street stand in the early 90's, desperate to see a decent team with their team floundering round the bottom of the 2nd division (third tier), then relegated to div 3 (fourth tier). -
One thing that video doesn't convey is how Duff completely tore them apart. I remember the game like it was yesterday.
-
If we can get close to £20m for him, he's off.
-
He may be a Liverpool icon but he's a Rovers legend. The difference between us and bigger clubs is we don't make enough of it. Agreed! There's a few statues around the place. At least the one statue that there is is Jack. Ps, Fulham's legend.

Had a quick peep at the Preston forum. Seems they think Wharton has only played a handful of games (😆) and with Ayala out and Van Hecke being a kid, they have a chance of winning. Haven't seen any mention of Kaminski which is the real blow. Wharton is a better player than their entire defence.

I hope he can play but he has to be fully fit. We don't want him out longer.

Do you think Collins is likely to stay if you go down? -

Out of contract in the Summer. West Ham rumoured to be after him in January for £7m. They won't keep Cornet if they go down. -
I'm not sure why we don't have a statue of Dalglish really. It might spur on whoever is managing us to believe that great things can happen and they are sitting in the same office of a legend. It'd be a nice reminder for fans of the calibre of footballer/manager we once had when you're heading into the ground as well.

I doubt you'd keep your best players in the Championship but you'd have that benefit of parachute payments to get some decent Championship players in to replace them. Last night Burnley looked like some of the championship teams I've watched recently. Mind you Wolves did and they are 6th. It seems the thing separating Championship and lower Premier League teams these days is the quality of defenders, and of course managers. -

Spoilers and decent at defending. A good point for them all things considered and they have rock bottom Newcastle next which could get them out of the relegation zone. -

Blimey Burnley are poor. Wolves not much better and they are 6th. -
I'm expecting us to win this so no doubt we'll get beat. It always happens whenever I allow myself to get a bit giddy, under Mowbray's tenure.

January Transfer window 2022

I'd agree with that. If you watch him get forward he'll always get to the box then pass to someone else, he never crosses the ball. I imagine he doesn't want to lose the ball by putting in a poor cross. Either he knows his limitations or he's lacking some confidence in that department. -
Haha, I didn't know one Rovers season ticket holder in 1992/93. Including some home and away die hard ever presents. Admittedly I was only 15. 93/94 it seemed like everyone in the town had one.

No one said worse players but we do need a bit more depth to the squad in one way or another. Leaving it to chance is never a good idea. Giving Mowbray too much money to spend could lead to him changing the way we are playing. We may go back to his possession obsession. -

Hope you get well soon. I’ve had it for two weeks and at times it’s not been pleasant. I wouldn’t wish a bad dose on my worst enemy. Finally feeling properly better today but still having a coughing fit now and again. This Omicron variant can f*** right off. -
If he gets the club promoted, which is a massive stretch given his previous tinkering reputation and the squad depth, then he will be a legend. Anyone who manages to achieve that under Venkys ownership deserves a medal made of pure gold. But I simply can’t believe TM will be able to resist the urge to play around with the team. It’s difficult to get giddy when you know that he’s easily capable of dropping such a massive tactical bollock. Could it be that as Tomphil said he’s under pressure from above to deliver and he’s limited the tinkering and instead playing to the teams strengths finally? Or has he struck lucky?

I hope he's backed with the funds to bring in cover for RB, CB and a replacement for Poveda. Would love a good striker to add to the mix and replace Armstrong but that's probably a step too far. Send Clarkson back and spin the wheel on a more useful loanee. But I hope he doesn't buy players to pursue his possession based football nonsense. We're doing just fine without it. -

He didn't have a good day. Hopefully he's saving it for Preston. -
