It's by design. The players we need aren't part of the Venkers remit. Surrounded by yes men and shielded from those who aren't. That's why Holloway and Warnock never came here. -

He wasn’t any good at his peak. If we were just looking at him for cover I’d be disappointed, and let’s face it if he signs he’s the main striker. -

It also means the opposition managers wouldn't let their teams be quite so cavalier knowing we have a goal threat, but currently they know we have no strikers. Keep Szmodics quiet and they'll score more than us. -

Sigurdsson passes it to an invisible man whilst JRC, Pickering, Szmodics and Gallagher are further forward. Opposition gets it. A Wharton jogs over but opposition pass to one of their midfielders before he can get there. A pass later it's with one of their forwards. Carter, Hyam and S Wharton under pressure, they all back off/get in each others way/do nothing. Pears starts doing the YMCA as a piss weak shot rolls past him. GOAL!!!! -

No chance those players are going to become so much harder to beat. You sack JDT and ask Warnock to take over tomorrow. The first thing he'd want is to sign an experienced CB, an experienced CM and a big striker. They'd say no, he'd say thank you kindly and fuck off, whilst thinking "what a bunch of fuckwits." -

We saw some of them were capable of playing that way before JDT came along, not just the defenders but the other players helping out with defensive duties. Perhaps shite is a strong word, mediocre I'd say. But it's also injuries, squad depth, relying on young players, and I think with Hyam a lack of fitness. Along with the afforementioned ability for all parties to be, indeed, shite. The keeper is a big part of it though. It can't be very encouraging knowing before a ball is kicked you're already 2-0 down. Another part of the equation is knowing the club has absolutely no ambition and the people at the top couldn't care less. What a motivator that must be. -

I don't seriously believe we would appoint him, or he'd come here. It was in response to having Mourinho as boss. If we were a normal club we'd be trying to attract these managers. -

It was believed to be around £5m, and he's one of our high earners. Perhaps our only high earner now? -

I reckon if we were operating normal, most people would be happy with selling him and replacing him with someone better. But it's likely we won't even bring in someone worse. -

We probably aren't, and probably won't, but he's also injury prone. So that's £1m down, along with his substantial wages. Gallagher was an overexpensive luxury we couldn't afford even when we could afford him. If he can stay out of the treatment room he may make a slight difference. -

He had a better squad and was allowed to make some big buys too. Had us finish 15th twice and never had us contending for the play offs once. In his only good Championship season he declared post-Jan transfer window. “We had opportunities, there were No.9s out there and the really interesting thing is that clubs are phoning us and asking if we want to take this player, Premier League clubs. “They have to fit into the way we play, why would we sign a Premier League centre forward if we don’t play with a centre forward at this moment, and he can’t do the running of a wide striker, doesn’t chase full backs, so we’d be playing with nine men rather than 10 out of possession?" And then proceeded to cock it up. -

I'd be happy with this fella, and if this report is to be believed he'd be right at home. https://www.nottinghamforest.news/2024/01/16/steve-cooper-had-no-idea-30-year-old-was-going-to-sign-for-nottingham-forest-he-did-not-agree-to-it/ -

It’s a lot of money to walk away from so perhaps he’d rather be sacked? He clearly doesn’t know the owners like we do. Or perhaps he thinks it’s only a blip and next season will be different and we’ll be back on with the project. Maybe he’s waiting to see if he gets some luck in January and we actually get some game changers in the squad. He seems an optimistic character but perhaps that’s expecting a bit too much. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was crossing his mind right now. -

If true, I imagine he has to put up with enough garbage from the owners, the CEO and Venkys UK delegates. The last thing he’ll want is to also get it from a player he made captain, who immediately repaid him with some awful performances (last season). But I think the most likely reason for Travis going is to make way for a CB on less wages. It wouldn’t surprise me if Gallagher also goes, replaced by a player with an even lesser goal record, and much lesser wage. It’s been the plan since, as far as I know, late last season. Get anyone on a decent deal off the wage bill. Sell any assets. Deal with it as cheaply as possible. And it pissed off staff and players. If anyone caused any turmoil in the dressing room it was Waggott for not being honest about the direction the club was heading (earlier). -

It depends how he aired them, and if it’s as nonsensical as what some of the fans are expecting, within a club in obvious turmoil, then it’s hardly surprising he isn’t wanted. -

Even if they are up for it a lot rides on if SS is back and if Wahlsted is dropped. -

He signed it because he loves the club. They'd have rather sold him but he refused. -

Bless their hearts. Can anyone contact the Nolan sisters to see if there's a genuine interest? -

One took us to losing out on the play offs due to goal difference, which would have been a play off spot if the club had brought in even a half decent striker in January, as he requested. The only bloke at the club showing any ambition or interest in improving the club. The other saw £££ signs, brought donuts and the only relegation to the third tier in 30 odd years. -

It was a club decision before Broughton turned up. From the owners. I reckon that's why Mowbray kept trying to play possession football. It's absolutely baffling. They knew the taps would be turned off but then appointed a DOF and told him that the remit was to play good football with a view to a promotion challenge. So he appointed a head coach to do just that. Then they told the DOF he had to make his own money, and the head coach to just deal with it. When what should have happened is they should have planned accordingly, brought in a manager capable of grinding out results and a squad capable of doing so. It's like someone with a split personality is reluctantly running the club. -

It's an extreme but at the moment so is BRFC. The club is clearly in turmoil, the taps have been turned off, we're too reliant on kids, have a bizarre transfer policy where we seemingly can't bring in experience, we've no proven strikers to speak of. The CEO has no real power and doesn't seem to want any. Both the head coach and DOF were sold a pup. The DOF is now expected to work with buttons, and when he did have a bit of cash bought us a dud goalie. There's two blokes at the top, Shebby-lites, who haven't a clue about football and are making it up as they go along, or simply saying yes to everything a woman who knows nothing about football says. I don't think there's another manager in Venkys time here that has been given such a shitty hand. And if they are good at anything it's shitty hands. -
