  1. Anyone else think Morton is now crucial to this team? Knits it together, links back to front, great ball carrier and passer. He reminds me of Tugay, which is some compliment. He takes responsibility and with it risks, but I could always forgive Toogs the odd time he cost us. His confidence for such a young player is other worldly.
  2. I'm fairly neutral on ToMo overall but he did say he was pleased to see "the football club" (why do people say that?) doing well and it sounded genuine.
  3. There was a classic Evans moment in the second half. A good Sunderland move threatening the box. Ball finds its way to our Corry 25 yards out...and 10 feet over the bar it goes. The bloke behind me used to say he should have had a clause in his contract forbidding him to shoot. He had 8 seasons with us making 206 apps. 4 goals! In fairness a defensive midfielder. He had his moments but by and large frustrating to watch if actually a likeable player in many ways.
  4. it's only our Gall(y)ows humour that gets us through the dark winter nights
  5. a fascinating divergence of opinion on here as to whether Hirst is worse than Szmodics. do you prefer strychnine or arsenic?
  6. It was pretty ordinary fayre in large parts of the last two home games if you look at it objectively.
  7. and just before the internationals so we can suffer and be pessimistic for a fortnight
  8. naive question. is the goal line technology installed in all EFL games as well as PL? genuinely I don't know.
  9. I shy away from criticising tactics but there was a point in the second half at 2 -0 I think where the back 4 and keeper were passing it across the 18 yd box under pressure and yet the next nearest blue shirt was about 40 yards away. surely that's basically not ever going to work.
  10. He gave Wells 5 yards to pick his spot for the second. Park football defending.
  11. Khadra. By accident. can't remember the game but post Christmas I think
  12. Is it just me? I can't bear to watch it. I even fork out for Sky and will watch virtually any game I can. Happy to go to all Rovers home games. I can cope with that. But TV? no thanks. torture. I prefer to metaphorically hold hands on here. Strange psychiatric condition.
  13. Yes I was there . I purloined the Lancashire Evening Telegraph billboard headline from a local newsagent, gently prising open the cross mesh holder after chucking out time. I then proudly sported it in my university bedroom pinned to the anaglypta with blue tack. I think it was the same season Bumley stayed in the league by beating Orient. I remember listening on the radio and being very upset they'd survived. Ian Britton I think scored the goal. Lovely fella actually who was on reception at Seedhill gym in Nelson where I used to go once of a day. Sigh. nostalgia....
  14. we are the elite on here though. literate, articulate, readers of the game. I like to think. We even disagree tastefully.
