Can’t see this mentioned anywhere, but Jim Fryatt died on Friday in Las Vegas ( believe it or not). The older fans will remember him for his sideburns, his amazing heading of a ball and the goal he scored against a brilliant Man City side at Ewood in front of the last 40,000 (43,000 actually) gate at Ewood. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2020/june/05062020-jim-fryatt-passes-away/

Right, gotcha. Thanks. So Suter didn’t even play in that final versus old etonians - amazing. However the history of those days was basically correct and still fascinating. Love it. -
Rovers in Netflix football series
den replied to AllRoverAsia's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well just finished watching it and really enjoyed it. I don’t think we’ll ever see anything again based around the emergence of the professional game, certainly not focussing on Darwen and Blackburn. Even though some of the facts might not have been too precise, the overall story was and this was the only time I’ve ever come close to really understanding what those times might have actually been like. some of the posts on this thread have also brought some reality to those days, so thanks to those that helped there. It’s the nearest I’ve been to feeling any kind of reality to our history, even though it was just a TV production. I also took the time to refresh my memories of Lord Kineard, Old Etonians ( who still play in the Arthurian league), the Wanderers and the Engineers. I would recommend anyone who’s interested in the evolution from the amateur game to the professional game, or is simply interested in the early days of football to watch it. why did they never call us Blackburn “ROVERS”? That baffles me. -

In the current circumstances the EFL have little option IMO. -

Up to 10000 people are already infected according to the scientists. This is huge. -

Three goals concede. Nyambe’s inexperience and lack of positional sense stood out for me, but that’s hardly his fault. Midfield outmanouvered all afternoon. Derby midfield just doing the easy, simple things (Roghwell take note). however, having said that, for me the main reason for this defeat was up front. Gallagher, Brereton are never ever going to be strikers. The ball didn’t stick up front at all, it just bounced back time after time. Any defence would be stretched under those circumstances. Armstrong looked like he had no idea how to play with those two. -

Nyambe’s inexperience showing that half. Derby continually getting behind him. -
All I would ask is that any new stand is of the same build quality of the other stands. The stadium is still one of the classiest grounds in the country and I wouldn’t want to see something that stands out like a sore thumb. If it’s going to get built, do it properly.

Is it possible assess how much effect the sending off had on the turn around in the Scoreline?

"It's saved my life. It's such a relaxed and friendly place, and it's helped Dad to become more independent. It's given him his life back and I can now spend time with my two-year-old. Got to say, some of the skills on show in t20 nowadays are unbelievable.

First half report.. bloomin awful. Hull worst team ever seen at Ewood, rovers slow. Can’t imagine anyone scoring for rovers. FT report.. easy throughout, patience the key, never looked like losing. Travis MOTM for me. .....take your pick.

Rename The Riverside in honour of Tony Parkes

Over 2500 sigs so far. I signed a couple of days ago. Cracking idea and fully deserved. -
Thought it was worth its own topic.

She was brilliant wasn’t she!

Save this one..

It’s hard to watch that video. Tony was and still is a fans man, he loves the fans and the fans love him. He was also very underrated as a player. Metcalfe and Parkes together is quite legendary in the minds of those that saw him/them play. Well done Natalie, it must take some courage to do an interview like that. This becoming public knowledge will endear both of you to rovers fans and even further afield than that. You’re dads in good hands I’ve no doubt. take care both of you.

Got to say I agree with KP when he says Buttlers figures don’t match his ability. Josh is a test match batsman IMO. He’s not a Jason Roy who an out and out slogger, he’s very capable of playing the tempo required then lifting the pace when needed. He’s a quality batsman who can play the long game or be the destroyer. I wouldn’t drop him, I’d back him.

England allowing SA to bowl at them. Going at 2 runs per over doesn’t give you any control and doesn’t give the bowlers anything to think about. The best teams in most sports are the teams who are positive and continually push their opponents back.
-
No, but they are very well organised and hard to beat, more so than us - just to add ..... whenever I’ve watched them. So I agree with Philip on that one.

What? You would if you lived where I live. They are THE rivals here. I’m making another appearance tomorrow so our lads better be up for this one. Question is, do Mowbray and the players realise how important these games are to the fans? I doubt it very much. It’s the most important game of any season for us Leylanders and a lot rests on this result. BTW, why are North Enders the only fans who only want to talk about attendances? Something wrong deep down with those guys. It’s an inferiority complex coupled with raging jealousy of how we’ve been better than them for something like 56 years out of the last 60. plonkers.
