How many have you spoken to?
-
Can anyone be arsed putting some effort in and doing some proper ones? Maybe have a list of the ones people would like to do like last year?
-
Reading have had a poor start. P3 L3. Ex-Rover Clement is in charge. Well-respected as a coach but doesn't appear to have what it takes to be a good manager. On that note Stephen Warnock was on TV talking about Schteve McClaren the other day. He said his training sessions were brilliant but his man-management was poor. Anyway, same team as Hull based on not changing a winning team. Hull may have Aluko back in their squad and that chap who used to be here, Barrow. So they have good players even if they aren't doing well. 1-0 Rovers.

I can't remember but Mowbray is on record as saying only a week or two ago that Travis will go out on loan if we can bring someone in. I presume he means in CM because that is where Travis has been playing for the 1st team and I think that's where Mowbray sees him playing in the future.
-
But the price is irrelevant in that regard if Mowbray also has the money to spend on players in the other areas of the pitch he wants to strengthen. I think it's more an availability issue than a price issue anyway. Bowyer was in the paper saying he only has two CB's the other day so we probably aren't going to get Bauer.
-
I think we have to be fair. The lad from America was one we were linked with and Sharpe has been saying all summer we've been after a CM.
-
You're moving the goalposts again. You want 'proven Championship' quality. Rhodes wasn't that when we signed him but he turned out ok. Brereton obviously offers something Mowbray wants and is prepared to pay the money (up to a point). A calculated gamble like you say Rhodes was.
-
God is a Rover so you never know.
-
Well take your phone because Rovers are playing. You can shout 'get in my son' and jump on the priest when Dack grabs the winner during your vows.
-
Well, no, he has pace and power now, that's the point. You can't 'gamble' on someone's physical qualities, they are either quick and strong or they aren't. He is. If we could get what Mowbray wants for less then he would have done by now. Anyway, the £8m figure came from The S*n. In their latest update on the saga they haven't even mentioned £8m, just that now the deal hinges on Rovers paying add-ons. All players are gambles. Rhodes was a gamble, he hadn't done it in the Championship and we spent £8m on him. At least Brereton can run the channels?
-
Brereton and Nuttall look different types of players. Nuttall isn't going to leave defenders for dead with his pace which is what Brereton does for fun on those video clips. Rankin-Costello isn't known for his pace as far as I'm aware but I haven't seen him as much as you. Again though, from what I've read he sounds a completely different type of player too. It's pretty clear Mowbray wants someone with pace AND power up top, in Armstrong and Graham you just have one or the other.
-
Now that is a straw man!
-
Bennett will stay out wide if Mowbrays comments about only wanting '2 and a half attackers' on the pitch at any one time are anything to go by. Bennett set up the goal from the wing so it's not all bad. I'd keep him out wide. No point in us having 2 flying wingers if there is no cover for the full backs and so we end up conceding a few anyway.
-
Anywhere across the front line, a bit like Armstrong. Pace and power get you a long way in British football and Brereton looks to have those qualities in abundance. The rough edges can be smoothed down with proper coaching. He looks exactly the sort of player we are short of.
-
If Mowbray wants to splash £8m on a striker I'm all for it. I'd like to watch the best possible players in a Rovers shirt. He's said he wants a couple of others too (CB & CM acc to Sharpe) so there is obviously enough money to go round. I'm delighted Venkies are backing him.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16529437.hull-city-0-blackburn-rovers-1-player-ratings/?ref=mac Sharpe giving the MotM to Evans. He was also very good against Millwall. Evans isn't a popular figure but he is a classy footballer when he's fit and on form. Smallwood's lack of mobility is what hampers him and I suppose in a better division with quicker players that will be more obvious.

An obvious joke.

@ewoodnews getting a ticking off from Mogga for leaking the transfer stories!

Indeed they are, sir....and a lovely cross and finish it was too. Great block by Nyambe near the end. http://www.skysports.com/football/hull-city-vs-blackburn/392571

Who took over from Jansen as Chorley manager? -
Did Bennett get an assist for the goal? Anyway, great win away from home. Well done the boys.
-
That makes no sense. They aren't going to sell someone that good just because he might only get in their team in a years time. They'd send him on loan instead.
-
If we're bidding £8m for Brereton then we can safely say the transfer budget alone this summer (NOT including wages and agent fees etc) was close to £10m which was a lot more than anyone thought (including Sharpe). If Brereton keeps us up then he will be worth every penny.
-
Mowbray has been very hit and miss in the transfer market. For every Dack there's been a Gladwin. Samuel at £500k was a very poor piece of business.
-
Mowbray admitted to the same dilemma earlier in the summer. He said he didn't know whether to spread the money around and bring in a few attacking players or splash it all on one striker. Looks like he chose the latter. That said he also wanted Freeman who might have come as well as Brereton.
