[Archived] Souness Goes To Newcastle
des replied to Brownie's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I feel let dowm by him. he has spent all of the clubs mnoey then leaves at the frist chance, the club now is in a right mess and it needs to be sorted out, the board and most of he fans backed GS shame he could not do the same. what would he do if a player did want he has just done, its ok being hard, but what you expect from players you have to expect from yourself, it looks like GS baxck up the dont do what I do do what a say saying. a sad day all round -
come on folks be fair, the lad as not kicked a ball yet. GS cannot win we sign older players and its a no no from some fans we sign a young player and its still a no no from some fans if we get 500k for yorkie is a great deal for the rovers I said paul d would be well and he as todate and this lad from what I have heard looks to be a good players, but as lost his way. lets hope he can find his way back at rovers

if the midfield can do there job and act as link between the defence and attack them I think that we will do quite well, the problem is that we are players who can defend or attack but not both and mid field is aplace where players have to do both and man utd have players who can do that. Once agin I think we should play a 3-5-2 and give it a go, but we will likley play a 4-4-2 and a draw would do me, byt a win would be wonderful

a couple of points first half we were good and on a par with them second half bad start and good bye the poor defeneding has to stop you can not gave away bad or soft goals if you do over time you will go down. we need to keep the ball, a know its boring, but the ball should be kept and not given away by long balls The running off the ball by our players is not good and at best average, that is why when the back four get the ball sometimes there are not a lot of options and hence the long ball. The downside to this is that the ball comes stright back. Answer play it side ways or backwards and start again You need to play to the players strong points and at times we do not do this. All in Alll a not too good start, but hopfully things will get better

watched the match at heys inn good first half, but the second half was bad if not very bad people have been saying we needed another forward, I think not, we need a very good center half who can lead the defence. first goal center halfs facing the wrong way, no one near the forward, no one tried to make it hard for him to score. second goal once again two players on the box and no one marking them third goal a bad back pass and its good night Yes we play a very good side tonight and the first half was good, but you cannot gave away soft/bad goals and it has to stop, and quick second hald stead goes off yorkie comes on and we play long high balls. why? I do not mind the long ball game but you have to have players who are good in the air and we do have thren in paul D and Yorkie, and as such the ball kept on being given away. not a wise thing to do against any team should GS go, at the monment I am in the do not know camp, todate I have always defended him, but the midfield was poor today, and that is any team is the heart beat of it. for me he should play a 3-5-1-1 away from home and a 3-5-2 at home this means that the team can attack and defend in numbers, but the right players haave to play in the correct postions well lets see what happens on saterday
-
if we play a 4-5-1 it could be 1-1 a 3-5-1-1, 2-1 to us a 4-4-2 bye bye rovers so a draw will do it

[Archived] Southampton 3 - 2 Rovers

Havingh had time to think about it a number of points come to mind first it was never a pen, the refs have a hard job, but that was a bad one, I do not nornal shouted at the tv, but I did this time however we were beated by two soft goals, last season we gave away goals and I had hoped that we had learnt from this, to date we have not. there first goal, the two centre halfs did not attack the ball and the fall back who had the player in front of him was ball watching and let the forward run into the six yard box unmarked to score. second goal we have two goes at cuting out the ball at thje near post both center halfs missed it, a no no in any ones book, the game as a whole we played quite well, however a 3-5-2 I thuink would suit us much better. over the last few weeks there has been a lot of talk about us needing new forwards, well in any good the team the first thing you need is a very good center half and I do mean a very good one. All the ones we have are not bad but that is not good enough, you do need at least one who can read and boss the back four, this type do not come cheap and are hard to find as newcastle will find out. Paul D I stated at time of his signing that he will come good and to date he as and I expect this to carry on. Stead played well midfield once agin we have players who can defend or attack, but not many that can do both and good teams have players can do so. A long season ahead, but we should end up mid table which will not be bad considering the money we have spent so far -

I think that rovers will win 2-1 and as for stead being rated, his goals kept us up last and who set up the winner on saterday, yes its stead -
having watched the hightlights on sky two main points We did not play that badly and last season we would of lost a game like that. I think we should play a 3-5-2 our players suit that type of plan and it means that at home we can attack more and away can play a more defenceive plan. all in all not bad , but more good to come ( well I hope anyway )

yorke with cole could be a very good player for rovers, its all down to if he wants to be one. I thuink that its a strong points when people are prepared to give players a new start its up to the player to take it

football isa team game and no matter how good a player might be, the team comes first. they did not see eye to eye on footballing terms, so bye bye. When AC when to the PFA them for me tis time to get rid, you have to be able to fight your owm battles and he could not or did not. In a team game when the going gets tough you need hard men around you who will stand up and be counted last season we had some who did not, and hence GS as learnt his lesson.

a number of points first the report in the LET states that Cole does not want to play for GS, well hard luck, in life we all have to work for people who we do not like, or we leave, However the club should NOT pay part of his wages, either keep him or sell, but do not go down the middle road. second if he scores as many goals amnd misses as many then its time to say good bye, a player living on passed glorys no thank you

As hard as it is when bad things happen and people over time do not move on, bitterness ( however understandble) can destory lives in the here and now. forgivesness is a hard thing to do, but as a Christian we are called to do it, as it empowers us to start a new stage of our lives. when things have happen to me ( I have tried to forgive) not for the benift of others so that I can move on. I know its easy to say and hard to do. but it does work. And as a new paper I do not buy. like or agree with the sun

one of the main points to him bringing a good signing is that he can play all along the back four and in midfield, he is also left footed and all this for free, come on folks, we may well like big star signing, but for the money thay that have spent is well done all round. And i think that he will give the back four greater deep and sterngth

once agin time will tell , but for what is worth I think its a very good signing nice one GS for £150,000 we have three very good players

its ok to stay loyal when you are on 65,000 a week, however for people who are on £5 an hour its different. But I agree its good that some players seek to stay with the club that made them -
its a good buy for a number of reasons one he has play at thre highest level its a free its for two years which means that if it all goes wrong its only two years (but I do not think it will) its gives the club time to either find or bring in a younger player so nice one JW and GS

I think all in all a draw would of been a fair result, howqever we should of won. england defended very well, however attacking options were thin on the ground. I thought that france had a better balnced side and there kept the ball well. england did the same first half, but in the second there gave away the ball too quickly, all in all a bit like watching rovers good on th eye, but daft give aways goals costs us dear

[Archived] Paul Dickov Signs - Good Deal Or Not ?
des replied to Baz's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
taken as a whole most teams needs a least five forwards, due to the fact that players get hurt, lose form etc, so at 150k it is a very good signing. other fans and some of our own) might laugh now, but it will be us who is laughing at the end of the season when he has scored 10-15 goals, nice on GS -

no one is saying that smith is not right to move, but for me its all that I am leeds through and though and then at the first chance he is off. yes players want to ber better earn more, but at least be honest about it, its a job and there are not fans and there have to put there familes first, like we all do, but when they start all this kissing the badge rubbishm its just a show to get the fans on there side. -

words are fine, but action speak louder, the fact that he does not want to stay says it all
