It's really annoying that he's gone for that cheap, considering we appear to have been put off by a potentially higher asking price. Pleased with the Douglas signing but this would've been a good longer term option.
-
Yeah, fair play. That's a good amount of depth though. Considering Dolan & Chapman are the only natural wingers, it's good that we've brought in a 3rd option that's arguably better than both.
-
Intrigued to know who our existing 6 options for the wing are.
-
I've just lumped on us to finish top 6 at 9/4. It's been a brilliant window but I'm not sure I trust us to get promoted ?

The Elliott loan has just been announced on the Liverpool FC website. https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/412295-harvey-elliott-joins-blackburn-rovers-on-loan?

You've just named a series of players that don't play in the same position as him. He's an attacking midfielder and primarily plays on the wing. So he's going to be challenging Brereton, Dolan, Chapman & Gallagher (if we persist in playing him out wide) for a starting spot.
-
I don't think anyone was expecting him to be available. Shaqiri by all accounts was expected to leave, which would've meant Elliott staying within the first team squad at Liverpool.
-
I've not seen a lot of him myself but I live in Liverpool and he's really well thought of with their fans. Trains with the first team and was expected to be challenging for minutes this season, albeit most likely in cup games. It's a great move for him to get more game time (assuming he's good enough to oust our current options).
-
Why mention Dolan if you weren't insinuating you wouldn't want to sign someone for the position he plays in?
-
Haha alright lads. Merely commenting back to a post suggesting we don't need him as we have Dolan. A lot more relevant than the drivel that's been on here recently. At least it was based on an actual rumour.
-
If Wilson signs, he starts ahead of Dolan for me. Dolan has been impressive but Wilson's quality is plain to see. Dolan would still get plenty of time off the bench as an impact sub & starts with rotation. Unquestionably more time on the pitch for the first team than he would've expected at the start of the season.
-
I sign him on all my saves & you get two good seasons out of him before his stats & form drop off a cliff. Well worth picking up especially for a promotion push.
-
I don't have the stats behind the season as I'm 4 or 5 seasons deep now but it was a great promotion season.

Lucas Pratto is gold
-
I've just had a look and not seen a single tweet linking him to us.

Couldn't agree more. We're pressing the opposition more, yes. But the big difference from last season is that we're doing more with the ball in the midfield. Holtby has been instrumental in this.
-
Let's not rewrite history on Rhodes. If we played our current formation & style of play with him up top, he'd thrive. We're creating chances and he's the sort of player that would finish them off. For the most part while he was here he was leading the line and making the most of scraps. If anything, we didn't play to his strengths enough.
-
He meant both sides as in he can do the defensive and attacking sides of the position well. I appreciate you're having a disagreement with him but it really isn't hard to work that out.

Newcastle United away in the League Cup

No fault of his. Came off his line quick enough once Fraser had been played through, but it was a good finish. -
Absolutely delighted with the signing of Ayala. I'd argue that's the best bit of business we've done in years. At the start of the window a CB of his quality (& suspected wage demands) seemed out of our reach. Fair play to the club for getting it over the line. LB is absolutely the priority now. I'd love to see Cunningham back if a reasonable deal can be done. Given the quality of the Kaminski & Ayala signings on the face of it, I'm happy to give the club the benefit of the doubt that they're lining up someone decent for LB. Fingers crossed!
-
That the club can put towards defenders? We might actually get one in then!
-
I don't get the comment on twitter about it not being exciting though. Obviously his opinion, but if it is Ayala, I'd find that very exciting.
-
The team were let down today by the lack of transfer activity to date. I said to my partner at the end of the game that if we'd recruited a LB and CB, we win that game. I actually don't care what Mowbray has to say after the game. He's let the supporters and the club down by not having us prepared for the start of the season. On the whole, the lads turned up today and played a decent pressing game. But with Bell and Williams in the starting 11, we will concede goals and that's been our undoing today.
-
King won't be playing tomorrow.

That's some scouting network we've got then if we were tracking the Korean league. I guess him being a full international helps in that regard. Shame we missed out.
