  1. Agreed. Just answering the question. I recall watching Malmo play a couple of times when he was there and they played with that formation. Like you say, any sensible manager will weigh up the resources they have before deciding on formations, tactics, team needs, etc.
  2. I bet the bookies are having a great time watching our next manager market play out.
  3. Not sure that's necessarily the case (them not being highly rated). Can't speak for Lowe, but from the conversation I had apparently Benson is highly rated behind the scenes and by other clubs/players. I was surprised but only really in comparison to some of the stick he gets on here.
  4. I think this has been fairly well established by other posters, but I heard from a good source yesterday that the incoming manager can bring an assistant with them but need to work with the existing coaching staff (Benson, Lowe, Johnson). Couple that with the DoF role not being filled before the manager role is, it's a weird way of doing business.
  5. A name that doesn't seem to have come up yet but is out of work. Jokanovic. Bit concerning that he was sacked by Sheff United most recently but he's got a decent record.
  6. I went to that game with a Plymouth fan and we both fumed about it, albeit not via social media.
  7. I'm still very bitter about this and wouldn't welcome Wagner to Ewood, despite his relative success. Would much prefer Farke or Carvalhal from the early foreign candidates.
  8. The only positives I can see of one of their sons getting involved is the direct communication lines they'll have & the hope that it becomes a passion project for the lad & he's given relatively free reign with their funds.
  9. That's actually brilliant. But fully expect more betting odds posts to be made in the next few weeks.
  10. All smell of L1 appointments to me. We should be aiming higher.
  11. Finish what job? The watering down of fan expectations... Couldn't make it up.
  12. If he's as good as he's being made out to be, I'd like to see Ash Phillips given a look in during pre season.
  13. Cracking post mate. I'd imagine we might need to look deeper in to our squad and youth teams to find some more players for the first team squad. Would be surprised if we had any sort of meaningful budget to work with. Could see the following given plenty of time in pre season to stake a claim as part of the squad. Carter (Centre Back), Brown (Right Back), Garrett (Centre Midfield), Vale (Centre Forward). I'm sure I'll have missed some.
  14. Couldn't disagree more. Thought he was our best player tonight. Crazy how people view the game that differently. Each to their own though. Can't be arsed arguing in this mood.
  15. My bad. Long day. I'd have quoted your post as the latest one in the line of comments about Hedges. Wasn't picking yours out as being especially harsh. We need to get to the Premier League before we start using that benchmark to be fair.
  16. It wasn't aimed directly at you, otherwise I'd have quoted your post. But after one game, yeah probably.
  17. Feel like there's been some harsh criticism of Hedges after that game. Obviously early days, but in a game where we didn't get the ball down and play much, I thought his pressing out of possession was good and he made plenty of positive runs.
  18. He was awful in that position last time we tried it. But I agree, that's probably where he'll have to slot in.
  19. You do when there are options behind them that would bury those chances. However we don't have those options at our disposal unfortunately. If you don't deliver the numbers, why would you be expecting to start?
  20. He'd certainly get regular game time, yes. Although the system is working well, we've had games where we've struggled to unlock teams and made a few changes to personnel and changed our shape. To do that effectively, you need options. We simply don't have the right depth or quality in reserve in forward areas to do that. As for Khadra, I've been impressed by him but by no means do I think he's undroppable. For example after his miss against Huddersfield I'd have been dropping him for the next game. A bit more composure in that brilliant position and he wins us the game. Small margins make all the difference.
  21. That's the same with any signing. There are no guarantees that they'll work out. However not making a signing in that area of the pitch guarantees that we're more at risk of failure in that area.
