  1. Souey's air fares to and from Norway. If he'd just got a video we wouldn't be in this mess!! Souey out!!
  2. Yep, he's a good player. He can play on the left and right. Against England a few months back, he played on the left and he terrorised Neville on that flank. Plays for Anderlecht. So that's Wilhelmsson. Can anybody think of any other players that we can't afford?
  3. But why be honest now when they must realise this could affect season ticket renewals? Simply because if they are honest after the ST sales are done they'll get a pasting for that. If there's no money, there's no money. We have to get on with and take what we have. A huge amount was spent this time last year and effectively wasted, this is the price we pay. Why say anything? I can understand we may have no money but why not just keep quiet and leave us guessing like they do with everything else? If they do have to say something why not tag it onto the statement at the end of the season:- "We'd like a Central Defender, a Left winger, a forward and a central midfielder to ensure we're not involved in a relegation battle next season but we can only afford Paul Dickov, ok?" Gets it out of the way well before the renewal packs are sent out that way. Surely Souey and JW can't have got together and said "We're over halfway though the 2-week claim-your-own-seat window, it's time to tell the world we have no money"
  4. But why be honest now when they must realise this could affect season ticket renewals? Perhaps because they feel they need to force MGP or Tromsø's hand before taking the De Pedro option? Or to play down the paper talk of a £5M bid for Butt whilst telling Tromsø we can't afford more than £1.5M for MGP. Hopefully it's a calculated gamble rather than total naivety with regard to the season ticket renewals - although the latter wouldn't surprise me given the New Shirt debacle and late/missing ST renewal packs.
  5. I'm plumping for Bobby "Kiss of Death" Robson. These aren't actual quotes but they're close... Clive Tyldesley: "How's the heart condition, Robert?" Bobby Robson: "It's alright because I think we'll win. We'll see off this dangerous free-kick and play out the last two minutes" 10 secs later : France 1 v 1 England CT: "Is a draw a fair reflection, Bobby?" BR: "We just need to keep hold of the ball now, not do anything silly and 1-1 is a good result for us" 10 secs later: France 2 v 1 England Bring back Big Ron!! He knows how to commentate properly. CT: "How's the heart condition Ron" RA: "The heart's okay but the sphincter's gone critical, Clive" CT: "Is an England win a fair reflection, Ron?" RA: "If we get a win Clive. I can just that daft ba****d Gerrard putting that fast, french c**n clean through!"
  6. We have a new face off... Randy Duck vs. Rasputin, for the title of 'Hardest Lurve God' Follow this link and you'll see that Randy Duck is 6'2" and weighs 15st!! You'll also see that Kendrick has a cone-shaped head and Yorick is very, very pale. No stats for Ruddy Duck at all!!
  7. do you not have a copy of the great official rovers song? with sutton over here and gally over there... blah blah... obviously its out of date but could simply change the players names... One of the lines was "Ripley's crosses just hit the air". I don't see how we could realistically adapt that. "Emerton's crosses just hit the first defender on the arse" doesn't really fit in.
  8. I've been like this since the Moorings closed down! I have to agree with ptholt to an extent - the lack of enthusiasm part anyway. I'm less concerned about the signings/potential signings. Isn't that just the close season for you though? Enthusiasm starts returning when the fixtures are released and builds when your season ticket arrives, reaching a peak on August 14th 3pm. It will drop slightly following that first defeat only to be re-kindled in mid-October when the new kits are released and dashed again at the start of November when the sponsor's name starts to crack and peel off in the wash. That's just the way things are when you support Blackburn Rovers. You get used to it.
  9. Sadly that's true! I do have less charisma than a block of Lancashire Crumbly! How depressing. I'd kill myself but I've just forked out £450 on season tickets so I'll leave it until Christmas.
  10. Yes, I can safely say I'm dreading that day. Sometimes even now the conversation strays dangerously close to that awkward subject but I manage to quickly head him off with a subtle "I know, why don't I tell you where babies come from?!"
  11. Do you mean let him go to Ewood or release him into the wild?
  12. There's no way that's going to happen!! I'll persevere! He's had Blackburn Rovers drummed into him since birth anyway. Rovers romper suits, Rovers bibs, Rovers T-shirts, Rovers shirts - he's seen me wearing all of them. Then there's Rovers books, calendars, programmes and videos all round the house. There's not much more I can do. Just need the team to start performing now...
  13. My 7-year old does. It's cost me £75 for a season ticket for him + £5 booking fee to order a seat next to me over the phone (and then they rang me back to say I still have to travel down to the ticket office with his birth certificate before 19th June). How many games he actually attends remains to be seen. It could be money well spent if he stays interested throughout the season or a waste of £80 when he loses interest before the season starts. He came to a handful of games in the 2002/3 season. The last one of which, we won 2-0 or 2-1. He didn't want to go again that season because it rained on the way out and there weren't enough goals. Other gripes he had were that the scoreboard didn't change often enough, the TV wasn't working and the bloke behind kept saying "Come on Oysterhausen!!".
  14. Wait until you see what they've done to your seat!
  15. Dont be silly, theres no need for a poll! Its going to be the old hamstring But hamstrings are soooo 2003/4! I fancy metatarsels to make a comeback - they never really took off first time around. I think Dickov could be a good signing but, like most others on here, I hope he's not a replacement for Cole. I think he does give us something different to what we have. We have no-one to match his work-rate for a start. He can receive the ball to feet with his back to goal and, crucially, control it. He can turn quickly and get shots at goal or win free-kicks around the penalty area. But who's going to play the ball to his feet? - Yorke and Cole have constantly been trying to control balls fired to them at chest height - a foot above head height for Dickov! Who's going to make runs from midfield to receive the ball from Dickov when he has his back to goal? And who's going to take the free-kicks that Dickov wins? Overall, I'm quite pleased with the signing. He's a handy player to have around but we'll need to change the way we play to get the most out of him. How many times next season will we hoof the ball upfield in his general direction expecting him to beat a 6'4" defender in the air? How many times will an Emerton cross fly just over his head? And what is the answer to Unleaded's quizzz? We'll just have to wait and see.
  16. Aged 16 to 21 on 31/08/2004 but if I AM 21 at that time, can I still get one? Yes I think so. Paul, Under 8's renewals are free but I presume if I want a season ticket for my 7-year old (who didn't have one last year) I have to buy a junior ticket at £70? Baz, to qualify for loyalty discount you have to have held a season ticket for the last three consecutive seasons 2001/2 2002/3 and 2003/4.
  17. "It's nice to know you're 'ere! It's nice to know you're 'ere! It's nice to know you're 'ere!" Dick-ov!!"
  18. bob fleming braking wind) Count yourself lucky Alan - I have to sit behind him!! So, to summarise:- JW Lower central £480 JW Blackburn End £455 BBE outer - no price change BBE behind Bob Fleming £12.35 (including free matchday magazine for wafting)
  19. I'm sure there'll be a postcard dropping through our letterboxes any day now announcing details of the announcing date of the announcement on the new kit deal just to generate a bit of interest before the real thing.
  20. They will be waiting for the card manufacturer to produce a prototype with R.A. Sealdinho as the name so that it can be photographed in order to appear in a nice glossy picture in the expensively-produced renewal brochure that nobody reads. Or they will be waiting for instructions on how the new card system will work to be printed to try to entice a few gadget freaks to sign up just to try it out. Or they are just amateur. Maybe all three.
  21. I hope no one is away during the next 3 weeks. Why not just send out the application pack, and stop wasting postage I'd imagine they are trying to get the renewal forms out as fast as they can. Why wouldn't they? It's probably this new-fangled card system thing designed to speed things up that's slowing things down.
  22. Thanks guys. Just trying to work out whether it's new news, old news or something about flowers.
  23. What does this mean?:- I mean, I can pick out some words - Men, journalist, Andy, Neild & bud - but can fit them into a sentence with the rest of it (except "Men say Andy Neild is a budding journalist" - that can't be right!). Is it essentially saying that this info has been taken from the L.E.T. ?
