  1. As I've said before. it's a football game. not a war. We all know opposition fans, Let the game be the winner.
  2. I started the thread, have done an alternative. My original thread was deleted!
  3. An ode to bygone days........ If you were born in 1870, as I know there are a few on this message board who were, and you attained the age of 18, and Papa allowed you out on you own for the first time, you might have ventured to something called the inaugural "football league". If you chose your fixtures well, on the 8th November 1888, you and 2,999 other hardy souls would have attended some god awful pitch in a strange town, just down the road from Rovers town, to marvel at the spectacle of 11 be-shirted men from Rovers town demolishing strange town 7-1, good men, Beresford, Fecitt (2), Forrest, and the mighty hat-trick hero, Jack Southworth on the score sheet. The next five games against strange town, sequenced, 4-2, 7-1 (again), 2-1, 6-1 and 5-2. Great days indeed! It hasn't always been days of wine and roses however, as we haven't won in our last four meetings, losing 1-2, 0-1, 0-1 in the Championship, and 0-2 in the League Cup. It is indeed W41, D19, L42 over time, so quite frankly, they owe us one! My memories of attending strange town's ground are mixed. I'm old enough to have experienced standing on that long bit, with a net in between, whilst the six fingered ones hurled objects towards us. Getting up, before I went to bed, to get to Ewood to be bussed the ten miles or so, to be stared at by an eccentric array of individuals, looking from behind net curtains in disbelief that other people existed. My favourite game was at Ewood, 1st April 2001, a fool's day was made. 5-0, in front of 23,442. (who wouldn't fit their stadium to this day). The mighty Matty Jansen with two, Craig Short, Craig Hignett, and strange town even scored in their own net! If you have the courage to attend next Sunday, I wish you a safe trip. I will be watching from afar (well Clitheroe actually), shouting at the box, as if it will make a difference. I hope JDT takes this as seriously as the rest of us. It doesn't make or break the season, but it will take us into the bought World Cup in good spirits. Talking of which, have a Benny, or indeed a few Benedictines and coke, before you enter the "Barnfeild (as per strange town's own website) Construction stand. Built in 1888, it contains all the facilities you will ever need. One lavvy, a coffee machine (if working, take your loose change), and real oldy worldy leather back seats (I jest), don't take your own cat as there isn't enough room to swing it. I have a lot of strange town friends, some of them are almost normal. I hope all who attend, have a lovely time, save for those supporting t'other team. Traditions are important. Lancashire knows this as much as most. COYB's The end.
  4. Slightly miffed, as I've just spent an hour putting together a post, and when I pressed send it disappeared! I'll redo as a repost!
  5. I tend to agree with the general consensus. I thought we bossed half one, and kept the ball without doing much with it, save for Pickering's wonder pass, and BBD's cool finish (pity he couldn't replicate it!). Came out well in the second, but for all I like Scott W, I didn't understand the negative substitution, whilst only one nil up, when a second would have killed a poor team off. At some point (Mowbray's spring?), the wheels may come off if he thinks hanging on is the way. Positives, Pickering, Brittain, defence worked hard, but shouldn't have needed to. We know BBD can now finish. I agree we need a Cowans etc, Tugay, would still be good in this league! Second, coming into the old enemy game at this stage of the season, surely we'd all have taken that! I'd take our first draw, a win, but they will be smarting after the SU result, and its the derby......JDT's first taste. I hope he realises the history/passion, and sets up his best team, as there is a lovely little break for all afterwards. Give it your all!
  6. I was discussing with moron's (friend's) who support the saddos! No choice for me but I hope we turn up at the Turd, and will take a draw!
  7. BTW as a Rover through and through interesting conversation with the other half (Burnley fans, I'm single!), would you take two defeats by them and still get promotion, rather we lose to them twice? Promotion for me!
  8. It's painful, but I'm sure the other side will win the title. Best team for us at the Turd. Parachute payments simply reward success We need to win again on Saturday.
  9. He really is a lovely lad. It's down to the bloody owners, they will take the money.
  10. Piss poor, EFL should sort this, 48 hours or so, and we don't know what is happening! See Wasps are hopefully going to be reborn by ex-players, but doesn't involve the stadium. A ridiculous situation.
  11. He's blue and white through and through. I'll have a word with his dad.
  12. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/oct/28/coventry-city-wasps-cbs-arena Some explanation as to why they are where they are. Fucking Hedge Funds, destroying everything. It's money, not people.
  13. Don't like Travis at RB. Love Adam playing, think he's a future England player.
  14. I understand, but going back to football, I'm very concerned about the integrity of this.
  15. Hedges got the ball, ref in great position, stunning finish from our Chilean treasure!
  16. It's a crazy season, we are up there with the most games won, equal with the games lost. Consistency eh? Sorry, missed Hudds lost eight.
  17. 7-1 to Liverpool, why Celtic and Rangers can't play other than in Scotland, Harvey scoring his first CL goal.
  18. Second tele game, where we were absolute pants. Embarrassing. Going nowhere as usual.
