I don’t understand - if our expectations are low then why are we expected (and you defending) to pay one of the highest season tickets in the whole division? We’ve never finished in the playoffs yet we’re charged prices to suggest we are / have been - not even touching on the economic situation and club competition in and around Blackburn

You do realise the difference between 7,000 at £399 and 7,000 at £299 is £700,000 - about the yearly wage of an average player in our team? I.e we could sell tickets at £260 for the cost of Daniel Ayalas yearly salary.
Therefore, it does absolutely nothing (or close to nothing to be precise) for our debt / income etc. which you’re trying to defend.
That takes into account zero increase in sales from the cheaper tickets and zero increase in sales within the stadium (food/drink or even people buying a shirt as they have saved on the ticket etc.) which is guaranteed.

You’re using a salary of one player but you’re probably in the majority of people who want to see us employ probably another 3 minimum players.

Yet you’d advocate us dropping enough turnover to employ one we already have.

I'm confused. It doesn't seem like 5 minutes ago we were being told that if it wasn't for the great and benevolent Venkys that we'd certainly go the same way as Blackpool, Wigan and Bolton.

Are we still on that and how come all that lot can charge so much less without those great owners?

    Typically cynical.

Every scenario is individual. You know this but you’d rather ignore it.

We’re not fighting for survival or promotion from the third tier. Our collective expectations need turnover. That’s not opinion btw, that’s fact.

So (some) ST holders who can afford it say "prices are fine, stop moaning".

None ST holders who can't afford it are priced out of getting a ST.

Conclusion, some ST holders are just not bothered about more people buying STs.

This is mad - I mean, my personal circumstances are irrelevant.

Do I want more fans in the stadium? Absolutely. Just not convinced a £100 or something off the price means you’ll convince 5000 people to turn up.

I specifically said ours don’t need to be that cheap up the page.

    Biz gonna Biz.

Ah come one, concentrate on the content as opposed to the profile name.

Do you understand the different pressures where turnover is concerned?

I actually agree that prices being cheaper would obviously be better, in a world where everything seems to be skyrocketing.

Im just not convinced that the experts, the accountants agree that this is the best way to increase turnover.

Someone suggested we’d sell double at £250 the other day.

Pie in the sky nonsense imo,

Yes, I’ve just replied to that.

Seats even in in ‘normal stands’ at Ewood is £100+ more expensive, nearly £299 than Bolton.

Bolton… you mean those lads in a lower league, sold all their infrastructure (IE lower running costs) under previous ownership, less competitive wages for top players in the division… no debt?

Wonder why their turnover might not be as important.

In a way I’m thrilled the dingles, noblot, nob end and even bratfud have sold between 13k and 15k each. It blows the apologists (some of my mates included) logic out the water that a grubby northern town in a cost of living crisis and pandemic and only hope to sell 7k. Price it right and bit of positivity goes a long way.

It doesn’t blow any “apologist” FACTS about how thousands have walked away,  not because of PRICE but success.

Burnley despite relegation are still in a decent position with squad and expectation, PNE are close to as high as they’ve been for years and Bolton have a new ownership and a “positive” on our way back message.

In terms of necessary turnover, Burnley start the season with £35m+ in sponsor compared to our 5m, Preston save around £8m a year compared to us in terms of facilities, and wage outgoings for third and fourth tier clubs is a fraction of the competitive championship.

What does all that mean? People with different opinions to your constant moaning aren’t “apologists”. They’re probably far closer to the pulse, at least in my opinion.

Those desperate for cheaper prices, but also desperate for investment in the team surely need to read about the FFP rules, parachute payments and also remember that the only times in history where Blackburn Rovers could easily sell half their stadium as ST’s…. Immediately followed a sustained period of SUCCESS.

To expect many of those back after the last 12 years, without any results, just prices and a new structure…. Incredibly naive in my book.

With GB here what is Waggot's shelf life now?  GB has seen first hand Waggots incompetent shit show at finding a DoF and a manager.  Losing both our top 2 candidates (plus how many we didn't hear of).  GB was found by headhunters, Venkies seemingly didn't trust him to do that, and then after weeks if nothing from Swag he comes in and gets an exciting manager in days.  Wags has to be on borrowed time.

You’ve just basically assumed a load of reasons and decisions to justify an opinion.

You, I and all and sundry have no idea of the structure, the decision making or the rationale behind interview.

Just assuming the worst to pander to a developed dislike of someone who works at the club… bizarre in my book.

    An easy example - you say we “lost our top two candidates”;

    1. You have no evidence, only assumption that was the case.

    2. You don’t know why they (if even approached) decided to not take it up.

Taking “in the know” knowledge from BRFCS as gospel is ridiculous. If there’s anything this summer proves, that is it.

Who knows, it would certainly be considerably more than this horrendous sales period.

I think there’s more deep seated malaise due to Venkys, preston for example are probably as close to the best they’ve been for decades and Bolton are in a different ownership and “on their way back”.

I’m certain we’ve had this discussion a few hundred times in the last ten years, but I’m not convinced anything other than success and promotion will retain the figures discussed in the Allardyce era and before.

I don’t think price is such a barrier. I think many ex ST holders at rovers have their own reasons, more to do with level and expectations, which ultimately impact experience.

Price is obviously an issue, PNE have sold around triple, TRIPLE our sales. That’s PNE! Why? Substantially cheaper.

A decline to this extent is merely due to being a run of the mill Championship side? Hasn’t stopped pretty much every other run of the mill club holding steady or even adding sales each year - whereas we are uniquely haemorrhaging thousands most summer.

We are now hitting sales figures that wouldn’t have us as any great shakes in League 2 - there is obviously something very wrong at this club and the relationship the fanbase has with it.

What do you feel would be a suitable price?

  10. @JHRover it’s subjective though, I don’t feel like the club is “taking the piss” out of me.

Why would I? Is it because I’ve had my expectations lowered? Is it because I don’t have an issue with money? Is it because I don’t particularly follow rovers because for success?

A quick poll of my friends suggested the prices aren’t unreasonable but the offerings are limited aren’t creative.

The decline for me, the reason has always been success. Hence why so many took up half season tickets when the club was sat in the top six at Christmas

The ship has sailed, the best candidates have said

"No thanks, we're not working for this lot and adopting the chicken farm 5 steps to success" and sadly, gone elsewhere JBiz.

We are now trying to make a silk purse sow's ear, as we have done for 11yrs, its pathetic.

You know as much as I do about what is going on behind the scenes. Fuck all.

I can understand your concerns but I just don’t share this constant need to moan and bitch about something that’s not even happened yet.

You don't have a clue who is in the frame. Since Mowbray left we have already had 6 guaranteed appointments on here.

It is far more likely to be the "usual suspects". And when the owners weigh up all the costs and risks it is more than likely going to be Damien Johnson being promoted for an extra tenner a week.

FFS wake up and realise what has happened to our club.

You know it’s possible to know history AND still have cautious optimism? It might do you a favour to take a step back until they’ve actually hired someone.

I can’t remember the last time I got excited about a suit being appointed at the club. Probably because I never have.

But this takes us to the next level of discussing why the club has gone to shit, and making excuses for the owners, at a boardroom level.

    2010 - we’re signing Ronaldinho.

    2022 - here’s a bloke in a suit.

    Whoohoo!

If only we’d hired more people who actually understand football, have a creditable reputation and experience level, and values their reputation in the game as opposed to their wallets, back in 2010…

The lack of communication from our so-called CEO since last season has been nothing short of a disgrace.

First he stayed silent as Mowbray was left to face the press whilst the season was still going on.

It then took over a fortnight between Mowbray saying he was leaving before the Club finally released a short statement confirming what we all knew.

A month has gone by since without any communication. No interview, quotes, anything.

    Appalling.

Do you genuinely expect the club to be sending you an update every few days with exactly what is going on behind the scenes?

Lets not mix this up - I agree with you on the problems of the club, the way it’s run with a vacuum between “boots on the ground” and the eventual decision makers.

What I don’t understand or agree with is this expectation that everything should be signposted and/or given out in press releases.

I don’t remember that happening at any club, never mind our own. You know as well as I do, most owners of clubs just use PR and copywriters to create a blanket release to cover most scenarios, “We thank such and such for his service” etc.

If there is a club out there, that releases articulate press and news every week, even if the update would be “well we’ve started trying to hire a manager, but no luck yet”… I would be surprised.

I think it would do you and a lot of others some good to switch off and just wait to make your mind up when it’s eventually released.
