We had the nonsense of 'why is this game a need to win' in the Coyle relegation season, mainly when Mowbray was in charge. As it turned out those who said any game was need to win were proven correct. Problem is this is not proven until too late so best just go for best result possible, cross fingers and hope. Expecting someone to justify why a game is need to win this early in the season is silly as is perhaps saying it is need to win. The whole subject is stupid at this time and my post a fine example of that.

Transfer Window - Success or Failure

We have a rough guide that there is at least £5 million still unspent. We can have up to 8 loans at anyone time, max 5 loans in any match day squad. Plenty of scope there to at least strengthen at CF and CB as a matter of urgency, plus other areas if possible. The window in reality is open until 31st August, let's see what 'appens. Negotating loan to buy will be complex for sure with fees and interim wages for someone to pay, but working that out is what Recruitment, Venus, Waggott and Cheston are for. Tony to crack on and focus on getting points on the board! We have the funds so get on with it. -
Transfer Window - Success or Failure

The signings that we have made I am pleased with. Since Armstrong signed it has been a shambles. Overall 5 out of 10 Loan window to come: well everyone knows the 5 mill figure so if looking to the PL expect to spunk a chunk of that in inflated fees and most of the wages. -
We are miles inside of FFP and you know it. Please don't trot out the FFP crap
-
Been like that for me all window but my Google skills are now ace!
-
He's been decent when I saw him with England youth
-
2, at CF and CB plus a creative mid at loan only

Loan Window - PR version 1, and quite a good try to.
-
Absolutely unsuprised.
-
There is going to be a hell of a lot of positive PR in the next few days on the extraordinary value to be found in the loan window and how that was our cunning plan all along. Rain at Lords and looking like a washout window. At least the Leeds forcast is good, comon Lightning, cheer me up ffs

There was a typo in my original post - song title is 'Shittin on the fence'

Even Chaddy? Who knows the square root of Jack Shit.

Sitting on the fence Since I was young I've been very hard to please And I don't know permanent from loan But there is one thing I could never understand It's why a window dicks the brain so I'm just sittin' on a fence You can say I got no sense Trying to make up my mind Really is too horrifying So I'm sittin on a fence ..... And having a few chilled beers.

Ian Holloway: Asked if he’s had any contact from Owen Oyston, he said: “Not in a million years would he call me.” https://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sport/football/blackpool-fc/ian-holloway-rules-himself-out-of-running-for-vacant-blackpool-manager-s-job-1-9289119

OK let's settle on praising Corry for getting into such a forward attacking position and his bad luck on the scoring chance coming to a foot he uses normally just to stand on. Lol.
-
I'm 66 and can still hit a 25 yard shot hard and on target with either foot, he's a bloody well paid pro! My 13 year old lad can too, mind you he's a tad taller than our Corry!
-
You are right! I am much too harsh on first view. We looked pretty decent in the extended highlights on ifollow. I still swore at Evan's skier though
-
What is the average height of our squad I wonder. I kind of celebrated at Rothwell being 6'1". You and I were indeed fortunate to see the two Mikes in their pomp and a shame no film to show the 'youngsters', like you it's imprinted in my memory banks. Sellars was class and hit a lot of balls into the box from a deep inside left position, could put it on a sixpence.
-
That was a good move, just seen it again on highlights. I think the score is now 2 ..... Any advance?

You'll need the back of a fag box, one pencil and no sharpener.

Crew SC | English team makes $1.25 million offer for Wil Trapp At age 25, if Wil Trapp is going to make a move to Europe it might have to happen in the next couple of years. By Andrew Erickson Posted at 2:25 PMUpdated at 2:28 PM For the second time in less than a month, Crew SC has fielded a seven-figure offer for one of its national team-caliber players. The latest on the table is a $1.25 million offer from the Blackburn Rovers of the English second division for midfielder and captain Wil Trapp. The offer, comes to light a little more than two weeks after the Crew rejected a $3.9 million offer from Bristol City, also of the English second division, for goalkeeper Zack Steffen As he said when the team was approached with the offer for Steffen, coach and sporting director Gregg Berhalter said Tuesday that Crew SC has a valuation in mind for Trapp. He declined to reveal that valuation. “We set a certain valuation for our players, we know what the cost is to replace quality like Wil’s, so we have to stand firm,” Berhalter said. “In the same sense, we want to work with the player to help him realize his goals and aspirations. It’s a tricky balance, but again, we’ve been through this before so we know how to set a pretty fair valuation for our players.” Trapp, who has made 143 starts for the Crew, called it an “interesting mix of emotions” thinking over a foreign offer. “It was certainly something I have never dealt with, my wife and I have never dealt with, so it was good to go through it and see how we’d react in that situation,” Trapp said. Trapp, who played his high school soccer at Gahanna and his college soccer at Akron, first signed with the Crew as a homegrown player in December 2012 and re-upped with the Crew through 2020 in March 2017 His family and many of his friends are in central Ohio, but that’s just one side of the coin. “There’s a lot of family here, there’s a lot of friends here and you’ve been here your whole life, so sometimes change is a good thing,” Trapp said. “At the moment, I’m just focused on what we can do here with the team. We have 11 games left, it’s been an exciting run, we’re getting everyone fit and healthy and bringing in new players, so just focused here.” It’s difficult to predict how or when a move to Europe happens, Trapp said, but he is clear about his want to raise his game, competition and expectations of himself. Trapp also knows he’s 25 and is nearing the conclusion of his sixth year in MLS. The window to make a move to Europe doesn’t stay open forever. “There’s a finite time you can play. You have to look at the investment side from a club abroad,” Trapp said. “How much money are they willing to spend on someone who’s a little bit older versus someone who’s younger? There is a window of opportunity there and you just have to find the right (opportunity) that comes along.” Berhalter agreed and said, to him, that window for Trapp could be in the next 18 months. “I would say there probably will be a time, but I’m not sure the time’s now,” Berhalter said. “In the next year and a half, maybe, (there will come a time when) it’s gonna be where either he is going into a situation in Europe that he likes and is right for him or it may never happen because of his age. “That may be the case. I’m not sure, but that’s how I see it.” To Trapp, discussing a transfer offer is something for which he’s had “conditioning” this season. As the Crew’s captain, he has on multiple occasions fielded uncomfortable questions related to the Crew’s uncertain future in Columbus after the 2018 season. ″(It is) the ability to control what you can control and that’s the biggest thing,” Trapp said. “Gregg’s done a good job of instilling that in each of us as individuals and as a team. No matter what the circumstance, you can adapt that principle to it.”

There are those who will say the Oystons gave the club a new stadium (partly unfinished), now skint but not laden with huge debt. Originally ok owners who fell to the allure of great riches and chose to nick most of it. The Oyston family could have been the toast of the Golden Mile for decades to come but are now despised and it can only end very badly for the Club. Sad past words for the Fans.
