  1. Would only be extra revenue if they were properly staffed.
  2. As part of this deal, Arsenal will be having Emirates as their shirt sponser for 10 years. (Source: Somewhere in the Guardian online.)
  3. The problem with the Bucs is that the NFL has a salary cap. With this in mind, they decided to go younger and get rid of some of their better players who were hitting their 30s and bring in younger, cheaper replacements. Instead of trying to get that one last trip to the Super Bowl, which they probably wouldn't get, they want to be able to rebuild and go back in a few years. Once a team gets a championship, every player thinks it was because of them, so asks for too much money. Their decisions were based more on a long-term plan than on "tightening the purse strings."
  4. Found a solid pm/solid passing, but didn't want to spend more than 1/3rd of my remaining money for him, so I lost the bidding once it got over US 275,000. Thanks for the advice. I've been noticing that the better the stamina to go with solid/exceptionals, the better the price. Glad I trained stamina for my 2 youngsters.
  5. So, the Boro preview is late, so instead of working on that, you did this! 3-2 England.
  6. Now that I have some funds from my defenders, I'm looking to upgrade to a couple of solid midfielders. Do I want solid playmaking or passing, which is more important?
  7. I've heard Curbishley wants him back, though the fans don't.
  8. I dont think that I'll ever be ever able to take you seriously again American after that daft comment. Dickovs name will be already be on the team sheet for the next match! I'll give you credit for putting Bothroyd in front of Jon Stead though. Bringing Stead on was Hughes only real mistake, I had hoped Bothroyd would have come on as imo he would have been far more useful given the situation of the match. At the time, I'd have rather seen Dickov come on late as a sub. Obviously, he proved me wrong. But who knows what Bothroyd would have done. Hughes has to find a way to get him in the starting lineup. To me Dickov and Gallagher are our best strikers at coming on late and giving hell to the tiring opposing defenders. Tell me, how confident are you that we'll get an equaliser when trailing late?
  9. Bloke next to you claps too wide apart and pokes your eye out. Same amount of risk. And of the incidents you later mention. How many of those happened in sections with seats?
  10. Yeah, RM, it's a shame he didn't play at the heart of the defence last season, but in midfield.
  11. Paul, couldnt this situation happen now? Yes of course it could. I don't really mind if people sit or stand, I like to sit, just wanted to point out why the clubs can't allow standing. If you persistently stand and break your leg the club have a reasonable arguement with the Health and Saftey people and the insurance company. Pardon my ignorance, but how can the crowd push forward with rows of seats in the way? The only incidents I've ever heard about (there and here) of crowds being trampled came from "festival/terrace" seating, with general admission type seats and no rows of chairs. Have you ever seen someone leaning over the seat in front of them while celebrating? They'd almost have to brace their feet under their own seats to physically be able to do that.
  12. Why isn't Hughes finding a way to use Bothroyd in the starting lineup, or in yesterday's case, use him at all? He can't be any worse than Jansen on the left, or Stead up top. From listening to the match, it sounds like Stead just had a shocker yesterday, missing 2 or 3 easy chances.
  13. Final. Sounds like Stead missed a couple easy chances at the end.
  14. Wouldn't think so, as there is no such player as McEverly Shiste
  15. guess it worked!!!!!!!!!!! EMERTONNNNNNNNNN

  18. nope, i have AIM, though
  19. I'm more annoyed that Bothroyd isn't starting over Dickov. MGP has been crap.
  20. We seem to have had a couple good chances so far.
  21. So, you're saying that Blair is a better PM than Churchill was? After all, it sounds as if you weren't alive when Churchill was in power....
  22. Leeds had the debts before they tried to sell. The difference with Roman is that he is outright paying for the players, not taking out loans to pay for them. The thing that killed Leeds was the borrowing to buy the players, and then the fact that any players sold, they didn't outright own them, so they didn't get the proceeds. At this point, with all of the investments, SB, the surrounding land, the new youth academy, etc. Chelsea would be a good buy for someone to take it off of Roman.
  23. Sell surpluss players. Pay wages. Pay taxes. Plus whomever would take over would probably bring money in to invest, as if nothing else, Roman is increasing the brand recognition. Many people would LOVE to take over the current Chelsea right now, debt free with all of those assets. With their season ticket base (at those prices) they wouldn't need a trust to remain profitable.
