  1. If Henchoz awareness hasn't deserted him, he will still be a good defender, not a top defender but he cannot be any worse than Todd "The Thug" can he? Hopefully he is only onboard as a stop gap e.g. till Nelsen is fully fit and Ooijer gets up to scratch in the Premiership and/or Zurab decides he doesn't want to give away any more penalties whichever one comes sooner. On a side-note does anybody know how many penalties Zurab has given away since his move from Glasgow Rangers to us, it must be about 6 or 7 now surely?
  2. I bought Test Drive Unlimited today and i have to agree with Biddy the visuals are stunning. I don't know ho you hadn't won a race by the time you'd wrote that comment on here though, i won my first race within 10mins of playing the game and haven't finished any less than 1st in any race yet. One bad thing about the game is the that if you don't have enough money and the cops arrest you for dangerous driving, you get sent to jail and you have to watch the outside of a Yank police station for about 30seconds. The cars are excellent, escpecially the higher class cars, the Ferrari's etc can seriously put some high speeds out but they do cost an awful lot of money to buy and as such i have only driven one that you have to take to somebody in a mission.
  3. Rovers 1 Man Citeh 0 Dickov to play well for them and probably will make a fool of Ooijer, also probably give a penalty away...again but big Brad Friedel makes another super save. Scorer for us-Savage
  4. I bought Madden 07 on Friday and for the first 10minutes of play i thought it were crap, but its grown on me, i'm not missing the owner mode as i never really used it. The new function of blocking with a player of your choice e.g. a linebacker etc and then switching back to your HB/RB take ssome getting used to but once you've mastered it you can create some big plays. The superstar mode is a bit crap as you get your position dictated by your parents genes on the game, (You'd have to play it to know what i mean here) and you are stuck with that position and you have to play as that player. I ended up a WR, so you play the matches through the eyes of a WR, not literally its still third person but its quite crap. I'd reccomend the game if you like your NFL action but if you don't normally play American Football games i wouldn't bother with it. As for Dead Rising, i got hold of my copy on Thursday and i haven't even opened it yet, i'm saving it for next weekend when i move to University in notloB. How good is it and is this scart lead really worth buying what i've heard people talking about? Has anybody got a link to where i can buy one of these cables and will deliver before friday at the latest, Thanks!
  5. Just out of curiousity if i were to by a 360 game from the states on holiday in a few weeks time, would i be able to play it on my uK Xbox. Just wondering because i'd love a college basketball game for it. If Madden continues to sound as bad as some people have told me,i don't think i'll be buying it anymore. Same with Dead Rising, if its just cut scene after cut scene i won't be to happy. I bought Saints Row the other day, it had sold out in everyshop in Hull and everywhere had pre-order on the case so i went in to my local GAME noticed an ex-girlfriend of mine working on the counter, chatted to her for 5/10mins and she pulled a copy of the game out of the back and sold me it, i asked why they were saying that it were sold out if they had copies and she said it were just to create added interest in the game itself and that THQ sanctioned it. That way both companies are quids in. Its a disgrace really but i ain't going to complain. Anyone else know of any stores that have been doing the same thing for Saints Row, Gamestation and all 4/5 GAME stores in Hull have been doing it and i'm sure THQ wouldn't just have little old Hull stores do it.
  6. Roberts benched Nonda starts That would make me very happy as JR hasn't impressed me the slightest bit thus far even if he has only had three games.
  7. Sheffield United Vs Blackburn Rovers On paper this match is a formality, a Rovers win with Benni and Gamst scoring a wonder goal, but as we all know football isn't played on paper and this match will be a lot harder than it looks on paper. Sheffield United like ourselves have only one point from their opening three games yet more encouraging for them is that they took their only point against the big spenders of Liverpool and were very unlucky not to take all three points on the opening day of the season had Gerrard not gone all fairy like in the penalty area. Both sides will be looking for an upturn in fortune after both being defeated twice in the three games they've played this season. Players to Watch ROVERS Andre Ooijer-After his awful debut he has a lot to prove, the club has invested a fair bit of money in this man due to his excellent performances for PSV and for the Dutch National side. He may have only played one game against the might of Chelsea and a lot of us are judging him on that one match and as such he does have a lot to prove. Given time to adjust to the Premiership pace and physicallity he should turn out to be a good signing, not every player can have the same immediate effect that a certain Mr Nelsen had. Morten GASMT Pedersen-Since he decided to change the name on the back of his shirt, he has looked a different player, who am i trying to kid, he's still not beating the first man with his corners and is offering very little down the left but we all know what he can do in a blink of an eye and the Sheffield United players will have to keep an eye on him. Shabani Nonda-This lad has got all the skills, the pace, the strength for a small man and if he stays fit and plays to the standard he has played to in the past in Ligue 1 and Serie A he will terrify defences in the Premiership as defenders don't like pacey strikers and Sheffield United's back four will be exactly the same. Sheffield United Phil Jagielka-He has been scouted by numerous Premiership clubs but no one has taken the gamble on him when players like Michael Brown has been gambled on and IMO Jagielka is a lot better player than him, he is a versatile player who can happily fill in at any postion at the back and normally plays in the centre of their midfield as a ball winning midfielder who feeds the ball through to their strikers. Rob Hulse-Never made it at Premiership level, always been the bridesmaid when at WBA, made something like four substitute appearances for them in the Premiership and was sold to Leeds United after being told he wouldn't be good enough for the Premiership. Now he's back in the Premiership and scored on his debut, Premiership start against Liverpool. Paddy Kenny-This man could be in for a busy afternoon should Nonda and McCarthy get the service they need, a top keeper IMO and i am very suprised he is still at Brammel Lane, i would have thought a bigger club would have taken a gamble on him in the same way i thought with Jagielka. With the season only being three games in, there really isn't to much to talk about in terms of how the season is going, we have to look at the season so far in a positive view IMO, we got hammered by the poor mans Chelsea but they have bought an awful lot of good players and they were not as bad a side as they were thought to be last season, drew with Everton who severely underachieved last season and have some good players like Arteta and Johnson and we've lost to Chelsea despite dominating a lot of the game possession wise and two individual errors by Ooijer put the game in their favour. The season should be judged by this Saturday's game at Brammel Lane, the first match of the season we are expected to win. This game has to be the turning point! Sheffield United 0 Blackburn Rovers 2 Scorers Nonda (Debut goal) (Should he be fit/picked) Gamst (Has to start the season somewhere and may give him added motivation knowing that gally and Peter want his place in the side)
  8. Good signing but the Frech league is nothing like the Premiership, it'll be interesting to see how he does even if he has performeed well in Serie A
  9. Not too many Drakefyre, on t.v. it looked as though they were few Chelski fans and a Rovers fan just been on Talksport saying that there were very few Chelsea fans there.
  10. jim mk2 those comments from Ian Brown do not suprise me one bit.
  11. Brett may have finally found his place in the team, in a position he can play and do a very good job in. i know he's only had two games at the postion but in those two games he has played well. At the same time though, i don't think we would have been singing his praises had Arjen Robben been fit and played, he may have proved a tough task for Brett to conquer.
  12. I'm a bit annoyed about Madden 2007 being delayed by a fortnight, i planned to get it for my dads birthday yesterday, so when i went to pick it up and Friday only to find out it had been delayed for the 360 i were far from happy
  13. I could have sworn we got spanked 5-1 that season, didn't it snow and the infamous orange ball was brouht into play. I'll hold my hands up if i am wrong, it may have been the season before but i remember anelka scoring for them as well with Bergkamp scoring as well and Gallacher scoring for us.
  14. I ain't gonna blame the referree for anything today, yes he made mistakes but they can't be corrected now so forget them. We should have had a penalty but Makelele was in the way, maybe the ref could have been in a better position but he weren't. as for the penalty they got, they deserved it, Ooijer were trying to take his shirt off and its about time referees started clamping down on that sort of play. Ooijer really disappointed me today, i were expecting a top class CB and instead he played like Amoruso. I know its only one game but he looked not up to scratch, hopefully he will turn out fine. Bentely & Emerton really impressed me today, all of our best play came from those two, brillaint crosses and brillaint inter-play between the two. I think Emmo may have found his position. Benni frustrated me today, he looks as though he wants to take on every player by himself and looked very reluctant to get in the box to get on the end of Bentley's superb crosses. he looks like a player who can get lazy when things aren't going his way, at one point i were missing the way Bellers & Dickov would chase down every last ball instead of just standing there like Benni & Jason do. I'm not knocking the performance of the team in general today, as i think 9 of the 11 did us proud today in terms of effort and overall play. I'm probably gonna come in for some critisism of Benni but IMO he looked like a player who will be the dogs nuts when things are going well but a complete arse when things are not. I will admit that he ahd some very nice touches and his control for his shot what Cech saved were top draw but apart from that i am at a loss to think what he brought us today. He weren't exactly an outlet pass in the waiting for the midfield. On a sidenote, why on earth do we keep getting the league table shoved down our throats at the moment, its 3 games old this season, the table to me means nothing till at least 11/12 games in, then again i might just be saying that because where bottom with a goal difference of negative 5.
  15. It says Gray makes way on the Rovers site but doesn't say if its injury related or not.
  16. This afternoons line up-Rovers Friedel Emerton Neill Ooijer Zurab Bentley Reid Savage Gamst Benni Roberts Subs-Brown(GK)/Todd/Kuqi/Jeffers/Gallagher Not a bad line-up but the defence does worry me as to who will play at LB, Chelsea's line-up doesn't look to have much width but they are still going to try and get Shevchenko in behind our back four. IMO we have nothing but Kuqi to come off the bench and have any sort of an impact, i don't think Gally is good enough and Jeffers, well he leaves a lot to be desired. Chelsea Line up with Cech Boulahrouz Terry Carvalho Bridge Lampard Makelele Essien Ballack Shevchenko Kalou Subs-Cudicini(GK)/Drogba/Mickel/SWP/Ferrerira
  17. I think i'm going to have to wait for the group stages, i'm moving to my university accomdation that week and have enough to lay-out without a trip to austria as much as i'd love to. Home legs a certainty for me to go to but as for away European nights, i will just have to hope that the lads do the business.
  18. I still can't let myself watch that miss by Ashley ward, it makes me wanna hit something. Worst goal we have conceded in recent times has to be the Nicolaus Jensen goal after Big Brad had scored from the corner, that were gutting and it made a lot of us think we were heading down the table even further at that point, until Steady boy pretty much saved us. In our relegation season we got spanked by le Arse home and some of those goals were pathetic goals for us to concede but then again having Darren Peacok at CB was just like having bloody Ashley Peacock from Corrie in the back four that season, no wonder we got relegated.
  19. I'd have thought i would have bottom of the prediction league so i started looking for IHTD from the bottom and then found myself in third for now. How lucky did Everton get with that equaliser, i don't think Brad could flick it onto the post again if he had a hundred attempts. I thought Roberts showed he has some talent last night but i couldn't help but compare him to Bellers (yes i nkow he's gone, get over it, i know) but i were thinking he would have burried both of those chances that Roberts didn't finish. If Benni and Roberts keep putting in the hard work we could have a very good strike force for this season.
  20. As always i'll end up buying both Fifa and PES and i cannot wait to finally get a decent football game for my 360 as Fifa World Cup 2006 is the best one on the 360 and thats only because its the only one if you make an exception to Fifa Road to World Cup.
  21. Very happy we now have him on board. IMO him and Nelsen should make a very good partnership in heart of our defence. hopefully this will mean that the thug Todd has little or no place in future starting line-ups as last night has proved again his temperment isn't exactly great. He could have cost us the match last-night with his senseless foul on AJ which luckily Rennie missed. Ooijer may spell the end for Lucas if the reports of Neill going to Liverpool are to be believed and if Liverpool did come in for him, i wouldn't blame him for leaving us, at least we'd get some money for him to spend before the deadline. As for RVN, i think i'm going to stop slagging him off now since he put in a good word for us with Ooijer.
  22. There is absolutely no room in the game for what Thatcher did last night, i thought we had some nutcases playing for us e.g. Todd but Thatcher is a nutter, i know Mendes wound him up a bit earlier in the match but there were no need to nearly kill the man. He gave the lad a seizure on the way to the hospital and knocked him out cold. IMO if a player does something like that regardless if the referee believes he dealt with it in his way, that player should ahve a sixth month ban and that will stop the thug from doing it again...for a while. Thatcher is no stranger to incidents like this and we all know he has a mean streak in him and IMO he meant to knock the poor lad out. He's just scum!
  23. If we have no Nelsen and no Zurab and have to rely on Jay and Matteo i can see nothing but a 2-0 defeat with Beattie and Arteta scoring. But with Zurab and Nelsen i can see a 1-1 draw with Gamst scoring for us and Johnson for the Toffies.
  24. As a side that prides itself on being fitter, faster and stronger than others i am disgusted at the lack of fintess some players showed today. Bentley over the off season should have hit the weights, even he must know that he is a lightweight, with a bit of muscle on the lad he could maybe make it in the middle. Was it just me or did we lack that fighting spirit we have had since sparky took over, it seemed to me that as soon as the second goal went in, we looked finished and not up for it anymore.
