  1. Haha..connectivity...and what on earth did those, who appointed a certain, outstanding candidate in 2016 have to do with JA and greasy spivs from a previous era?
  2. He had one in Billy Smarts Circus, as a shaved monkey. What's worse is that the eldest son of a friend of mine was jilted by a girl, who left him for said shaved simian!
  3. Just wondering, if you could have guest appearances from other eras- like overage players in the Under 23's etc- would there be places for John O'Mara, John Coddington and Richard Brown?
  4. Quite. But we have had far too many folk devil/ hate figures over the last 10 years. Once upon a time, it was only a poor headmaster from Spennymoor, County Durham. Lest we forget!
  5. No, his real achievement was to keep Big Club in the Championship!
  6. God, there are some rank bad 'uns there. I think it is better to forget!
  7. Really? The Full Members was a very proud moment, as was 1975. For that matter,I always used to tell Utd and Arsenal fans that a 2-1 away win at Port Vale mattered just as much as a win at Highbury
  8. Just remember we bravely kept them out until the last few minutes and Rovers fans chanting "We're proud of you, we're proud of you" at the end. The following day, when I got into work, I looked in the message book to see a message, left by an unknown client, called Mr. Proudview. Little things etc
  9. But that was the bit of the post that I liked!
  10. I lived on that CHAMPIONS moment for years. The job was done AND we should have gone all out for the title. Either/ or is just a false ...er..dichotomy...there ..said it! By the way, Arbitro, you were one of the only sober people I saw that day at Charlton!
  11. Agreed. I have got over it, but we shouldn't pretend. Denial, selective memory and all that! Four of us travelled down to London and we were more than disappointed, when we saw that team selection. Maybe, we would have understood, if TM's reasons were explained. Of course, once you have won the Premiership, people can argue over the prestige of a Third Division Championship etc. Well, it certainly mattered to me in 1975, as it did to my own kids, who had suffered all the Venky crap, when they could and should have been enjoying the JW long term legacy!
  12. At times like this, I keep reminding myself that bygones really are bygones...so last years embarrassment should have no bearing on Monday lol
  13. This is now. That was then and, make no bones about it, my lads and I were pretty peeved that we didn't go for that title!
  14. Let's hear it for the elephant's memory. Glad to hear I am not on my own!
  15. Was he really ever ok in League 1 though?
  16. As regards, TM, I am stuffing my face with humble pie. Indeed, there was no dish that I could have wanted more.
  17. I think the best thing we could say is that the jury is out. Caddis, Gladwin, Chapman, Brereton, Bell. The Radio Lancs commentary described Brereton, as poor, lacking in confidence with negative body language etc. Bell was very good yesterday. Have we been playing his twin brother? Gallagher and Johnson have much more to prove, but I do remain hopeful. TM's comments about Johnson's fitness/commuting do show a management issue for me. Grateful for another good weekend after a very encouraging performance from TM and his players. Hope it gives a boost to half-season tickets Meanwhile, what a horrible little toad that Lee Johnson is...
  18. Good to see that our artists are soldiers too. I have worried that we are a bit of a soft touch, but it was so good to read the LT saying we have become horrible to play against.
  19. He would deserve the chance, but I am not convinced about his dexterity in the transfer market. Maybe, he would need some help in that department...but I am ahead of myself!
