  1. 1 Thats a matter of opinion, I think Souness bought Dickov with in intent of playing Dickov instead of Cole, and thats why Cole blow his nut and decided he could not work with Souness, after last season Stead was always going to be first choice. 2 Yes Dickov is not at fault, but 20th in the league and playing Dickov up front was suicide, I think I was right to say I was not happy with that at the time, and I don't think Dickov alone can score the goals to get us out of relegation and so far Dickov and any partner don't seem to score enough goals, correct if I'm wrong!, which is the exact point of many of my posts on the subject, its has not reflection on Dickov's attitude or workrate. 3 I don't hate Dickov really,I hate to situation. But he has to keep scoring, he went 8 games without a goal and we were 20th in the league and he has not been able to form a partnership with another striker and obviously not a natural goalscorer, I can't believe I'm the only one concerned by this. Just glad Thompson's back because he can be amatch winner on his day.
  2. i'm not criticising Dickov, what has he done wrong, nothing at all, he's works very hard, scoring some goals. I'm not going to boo him or anything. I'm questioning whether signing Dickov has taken the team forward or in reverse. all I can say again is I'm disappointed that we are going to have to rely on the goals of Dickov to get us out of relegation. 9 points from 13 games, 2nd lowest scorers in the league, 11 games without going a goal ahead and 12 out of 13 without a winning goal. I have to admit at the time playing Dickov upfront on his own and 20th in the league really depressed me, but things have been better the last two games, Its the bare minimum and has to be maintained and hope we are not relegated. maybe I come over a bit too harsh, I was way to harsh on Amo last season which I got allot of stick for, although most people are worse then me now with him and Matteo.
  3. i'm defending my position that we struggled this season and not score enough goals, I don't blame Dickov I blame Souness for actually what has happen, currently we are heading for relegation. To be honest he doing exactly what I expected he would. I never doubted he score some goals and wroked very hard, always been a fans fav. sadly we don't have a Baros, Cole or Hasslebank who going to add that bit of quality thats wins games. Stead's was playing well with Cole and is not with Dickov, i won't have broke that partnership up, but maybe Stead would have still been crap this season, we will never know. so basically I'm disapointed that we are going to have to rely on the goals of Dickov to get us out of relegation. It could be extremely close in May, this should have all been avoided.
  4. Ok thenodrog, I wrong about Dickov, his goals have got us to 19th and if it was not for him we would be 20th, how silly of me to prejudge a stiker who scored 35 goals in 160 games for man city and just got relegated after a career in div and div2. How stupid of me preseason to think we may struggle this season without Cole, you have totally proven me wrong, happy now! How many games was since we won thenodrog, how many games since a striker scored a winning goal, how many poiints do we have. Tpyical after another draw you try and attack me but didn't have the balls to do it a couple of weeks ago when he went 8 games without a goal and we were 20th rather then a much better 19th. My worry was that Dickov would not score enough goals to get us wins, and I look silly do I because I have been proven right but he score a penalty, ok fair enough. I don't doubt he works hard and scores some goals. Where exactly have I been proven wrong again?
  5. Rodney Marsh, he has predicted we will not get 30 points this season
  6. when we are in the top 10 and he has 15 goals then I will say that selling Cole and buying Dickov was ok but heading for down my Christmas, and a penalty, think not, but well done to Dickov he's playing to the best of his ability. I don't think the strikers did anywhere near enough today or this season, yeah Dickov scored a penalty but he missed chances, chances that win games, chances need to be scored to avoid relegation. But really I should be more critical of other strikers, because they are letting us down badly at the moment. Dickov gives 100% so I don't dislike him as a person, I think he lacks that extra quality that wins games, you can disagree. With Andy Cole we would have won today. end of
  7. yeah it is and soon will be bouncebackability and in our case downbychristmasnes 11 games we go a goal down first, and 11 games without even getting a a winning goal or even a goal ahead, we are failing upfront, its still not good enough. but at least we are conceding less. Nice to see Thompson back, at least he will have a few cracks at goal.
  8. 1-1 , Ferguson for rovers
  9. What?! Dunn can only be 2 years younger than Ferguson. David Dunn is a fat perpetually-injured big-headed delusional git. He couldn't learn if he was playing next to Pele. he could probably learn how to maintain an erection though?
  10. he's going to be targeted now, particularly after what Strachan has said about this behaviour being the norm for Jay and he is easily tempted to lash out
  11. Didn't he fail to dive depriving Perugia a penalty and infuriating their chairman? In which case, it's no surprise Arsenal got shot of him. Strachan was asked about him yesturday on MOTD2 and he said bascially that Bothroyd would do something violent everyday and Gordon said he would fine him, Bothroyd apparently said it was only money and didn't care, but then Gordon said he could not play for a month and Bothroyd "cried". I'm sure Strachan's a bit over the top, but he's a wild one
  12. If you don't find a quote to back up that ridiculous claim, I might have to sue you . Which would in itself be hilarious. Please buy this book, you have needed it for years now
  13. don't prejudge Dickov, according to Tris a 32 years old is too young to prejudge, a striker has to be at least 40 yrs old. They give it 100% both of them. Ward scored something like 6 goals in around 16 games for Blackburn in the PL which is ok, didn't stop us finishing 19th but not bad return for him.
  14. well anyway we still need a striker that scores more goals whether its with or without Dickov in the team if we are to get off the bottom and into satefy. we are one of the three worse team in terms of scoring goals and are the wosre team defensively. But now we are three games without Bothroyd, and Dickov is statistically getting exactly 1 goal in every 4 games, same as last season. It will be interesting to see who Hughes plays at the weekend
  15. It's about 8 years since I have seen our centre forward physically boss opposing centre halves so comfortably and yet have such good ball control. JB knocked Hyppia about with ease last week and until his stupid retaliation Svenson had literally bounced off him 3/4 times. Powerful shots in both feet too (that 2nd save by Green was exceptional because his view of Bothroyd was blocked) and a fair turn of pace. He should have it all but I can only assume that his temperament must be hideous. I know that Arsenal sacked him for dissing Don Howe (of courderoy trilby fame ), Coventry for falling out with Strachan, but does anybody know what went on at Perugia? Could Bothroyd be the new Collymore? I would take the Collymore between the age of 22 and 26 years old, he was class and could score from anywhere, after that maybe not I think in Italy he did quite well but got injuried and then lost his place.
  16. yeah but you're a complete pr!ck at least Rover6 has a few get out clauses you are pathetic
  17. Agree with you there Waggy. I'd like to see Hughes at least give himself the option of being able to bring Gally in off the bench late in the match. He did great in that role last season. I dont really know why you 2 dislike Dickov so much as imo he has done well this season when playing off a striker. His worst games only came when he was unfairly (due to his stature) played up front on his own as a target man in a 4-5-1 formation when our defenders kept lumping the ball to him in the air. Dickov is worthy of a start simply for his never-say-die attitude. Dickov.......... Up front on his own for the second half. Scored the equalizer on 86 mins. Richard Dinnis's MoM. A large dollop of humble pie for you two I think. Yeah a goal off his shoulder against a team that have not won in th PL for 10 years, its typical Dickov really, I predicted he would score before the game as he does score sometimes you know, thats 2 points for the season his goals have earnt us, this being the most important, everybody respects his workrate, just not his overal quality, that's very clear, he's part of currently the wrose team in our league. We are still 20th in the league, this is what happen to Rover6 last season, everytime we won which was rare, "rover6 should eat humble pie" and then we finish a few points of relegation.
  18. "My point more is that there are players we could have tried to get who would have done the same job for lesser pay. The failure was not seeing who might be available and then going after them." you are little harsh on Cole he was provoked, but I totally agree with you comments about replacing Cole, still its not easy to get a class PL striker when we have little money.
  19. not sure if you are saying Cole has not been that good this season, but I would disagree and Fulham would seem to aswell, this is from there offical match report from the weekend, someone must be pretty happy. "Andrew Cole put in a compelling display of skill, guile and subtlety. His movement and passing was breathtaking, and his brilliantly taken goal after he combined with Luis Boa Morte was his fifth in eight League games for his new club. Centre Forward for England? They could do a lot worse." I did see some of the highlights on sky and he was a different class, not sure about breathtaking but then these are Fulham supporters after all.
  20. Is he a clairvoyant ? no, i think when the move came about Chelsea told Duff they were aiming to sign thew best players in the world and Souness told Duff of his future ambition to sign a then div1 Dickov and sell probably the most successful striker in the history of the Premier league and he put 2 and 2 together
  21. my opinion, he made a bloody good choice. play with Dickov, Amoruso and Neill or Lampard, Robben and Dorgba
  22. "I would be looking to sue Souness for letting Cole go for nothing" I agree, i'm still ###### about this, particularly considering Cole has been brilliant this seaon, different class to anyone on our team, it must be 5 goals in 7 games and he works very hard andset up play has been great. I am also certain the signing of Dickov forced Cole out, thats not Dickov's fault, its purely Souness.
  23. good post, probably in the majority, but not sure how good a right back Douglas is.
  24. 3-1 to Blackburn if Stead Plays 2 goals for Stead (20 yard screamer finally goes in, and gets another tap in late on), 1 goal for Reid 2-1 to Blackburn otherwise 1 goal for Dickov(comes off his shin from 1 yard), 1 goal for Reid A lot of pressure in the last 10 minutes
  25. although I would love to be more optimistic, I still feel that, any team, even the worse in the history of the premier will have games when they play well, yeah it was a good performance but only 1 single point and we are possibly going to be 20th again tonight with the worse goal difference in the league. So i'm not going to punish myself with optimism and we have seen it before and been let down. My main hope is that Reid may be able to play CM and cover the possiblity that Tugay is going to be extremely inconsistent again. And obviously Thompson's return would be helpful. I think that if we have a good midfield and defence, and if there is any chance that De Pedro still has his old abilites as Hughes I think is hopeful of with his workrate in recent weeks, then Stead could still have a good season, because I always see moments of class that tell me he is going to be a class player one day, and his time has to come sooner or latter for our sake and to get supporters back to Ewood.
