  1. well done to Dickov 2 goals two games, both good goals aswell, didn't see that coming, although I did predict he would score in the Newcastle game, but a 25 yards screamer yesturday but have to say I think at the moment Todd is the team, he's so important its untrue, I would hate to think of the team without him, hope he gets that contract ASAP
  2. None, we didn't receive any penalties in season 2003/04. What was it 54 games prior to City that we got our last penalty? he was beening Sarcastic!
  3. don't really create penalties, you can create chances, but penalties are normally an error of the other team, e.g handball or out of position Unless your Robert Pries and look for the foul by swinging out your leg, but that's normally called cheating
  4. firstly because nobody else is scoring, Jay has only got a goal from 2 yards. Our main man Stead either can't score or can't play with Dickov or not been given another chance after a bad first 4 games Gally has bveen start and stop, scored 2 games in a row, then had an off game and was dropped Although if you read the original dickov thread I posted Dickov's Man City stats from div1 and div2 and warned people, so anyone that ignored that were probably kidding themselves. ManCity: 158 games 38 goals but he will probably get a hatrick on saturday now , I think he has to score really to keep his place
  5. No he is not, he is way to greedy imo. Can't remember him setting up one singel goal so far this season. wow dude, you hate Dickov more then me to be honest he set a few up this season, he's not been totally useless, if we had three decent strikers there would be less responsibility and we wouldn't be getting ###### off with Dickov the other strikers should be forcing him out the team if they are good enough Although I do think that Dickov is hard to play with, the time he shouted at Gally for scoring sumed that up for me, I remeber someone did that to me when I scored in a Cup Final, but we were 10 years old
  6. its difficult, there no reason Dickov can't be a sub, his poor finsihing is hard to watch unlike his workrate, but at the moment nobody is really doing the business upfront. Dickov is 32 yrs old so basically we have to move on soon anyway, what is more important is that if no player an play well with Dickov and he is struggling to score then maybe we could try a new strike force up front and leave Dickov on the bench, but will hughes Risk that???? I doubt it I think Champaigne Charlie said it best "Dickov is our best striker, but lacks the quality that turns an average team into a good team" So what does that say about the other strikers. I don't personally want to see Dickov here next season, but there is no way he will be sold next month
  7. They wouldnt even score enough for a div.1 side! Bothroyd is imo the worst striker we have had since A.Ward, and dickov aint a goalscorer. We need two new quality strikers, and I have no idea where we could find them. Bothroyd should be sent back to Italy at the end of the season, while Dickov could be a part of the Savage deal. I have to agree, its just shocking really, and a real shame because we had a good partnership towards the end of last year, really its Souness's fault, but we are really paying the price. although I do think they probably are good enough for div1 I think Dickov scored quite a few in div 1 when Foxes went up, and Jay would probably build his confidence up.
  8. you are not going to believe this, but some other teams in the Premier League have strikers that can actually score from outside of the 6 yard box
  9. I should have remembered that, don't think anyone ask Jim to name a successor more then me
  10. wow, allot people really don't rate Ferguson much, i truely wonder what posts would have been on this thread has that shot that hit the side netting, actually gone in. fine line between being a success and be a failure
  11. but Souness has money, he may have made mistakes but he's likely to go for proven quality, if he had three great years a Blackburn then why with finance can't he have three great years at newcastle before he loses the plot, i think Newcastle would be happy with that, we were
  12. rover6 wanted to sack Souness and replace him with Paul Sturrock. Jim didn't have the guts to put forward a viable successor and left any questions relating to this unanswered. So, no, they didn't get it right. A lot of people were worried under Souness, they just went to extremes although I did respect rover6 for naming a sucessor and taking all the ribbing he received in good humour. great point, I retract my statement
  13. Souness did lose the plot a bit, I think its harsh to say he was a bad manager, its a bit like Peter Reid situation, Souness was manager for too long. Sadly people like Rover6 and Jim were totally right, I think allot of us still judged Souness off his past success rather then the direction he was taking the club. The selling of Cole was the turning point for me personally, but he was pretty good for the first three years
  14. Dickov seems a little nervous in front of goal, like he doesn't have faith in himself one on one, he hits every one on one directly at the keeper, they don't even need to try and save it, he's almost targeting the keepers belly, i think keeprs find it predictable. I swear Dickov is thinks "my god I got a chance just kick it hard", where as a top striker try and fool the keepr, and hit one of the corners, or go throught the legs If it's a poor game and the whole are stuggling then great bring Dickov on let him battle for the team, but if we are creating chances then we need the finishers that maybe doesn't work as hard but are more likely to show a bit of class that wins games.
  15. plus you have to consider that for the past 4 months John Stead has been the lead singer of G4, and thats effects his game, now X-Factor's over we will see a new John Stead and banging in some goals have to add, Hughesy right, Todd has been quality, and Matteo looked the part on saturday, and Neill had two good games in a row, and Short is normally ok. as they say, you always start at the back
  16. Duff we hads to sell, Dunn been injured and fat for three years Cole was a mistake to sell, but I believe forced out due to the signing of Dickov and Souness intention to play Stead and Dickov together and drop Cole, thus leading to Cole requesting a transfer(just my opinion) had Souness gone before the summer, Cole would be a Blackburn Player and playing upfront with Stead, probably successfully, but we will never know
  17. I think every striker seems to struggle to play with Dickov, but Jay seems more effective out of all of them (excluding Saturday when both were crap). and Dickov is first choice for Hughes I would love at this point to see a different pairing upfront that didn't involve Dickov, purely for a change, he's played in every game and had a purple patch recently but I still think he not good enough for a decent PL team as do many on the board only "lately"( no doubt that will change when he scores another pen) Although he would be a decent sub, excluding the pens he's got one goal in 15 games in open play and that was a last 10 min goal. so his workrate in the last 10-20 mins could be effective and catch a few defenders out. And I think away from home Hughes wanted to use a Defensive midfielder, Flitcroft was ok aswell. Thats why Thompson didn't start
  18. he was actually totally solid, i hope to see him there again, only time will tell if he is consistent, but he will be starting next week. it good news having a back four play like that
  19. christ, sum this game by saying the strikers were shocking, and can't fault Dickov's work rate, but boy this guy can't finish, he had a chance in the last 5 seconds from 2 yard and a open goal and kicked it the wrong way, at least it looked like him, he missed another good chance in the first half. I really would like to see Gally and Stead play together, just give another pairing a chance, please, Dickov's done nothing wrong just think another pairing deserve a go Positive Matteo was good at Left back, all back four quality
  20. looking foward to this, certain win for Blackburn, 3-1 Thompson, Ferguson and Dickov might even score in "open play" finally scoring a one on one, with Johnson getting a late goal for palace.
  21. althoughI would really like a good tall striker that gets decent amount of goals like Sutton, to pair with Stead, Gally etc I had to vote for a defensive midfielder, because being strong in midfield protects the defence and allow the wide men to attack, its very important, and adds competition to places
  22. Dickov situation makes me laugh, when we win all the Dickov lovers come out and when we lose people note is not a goal scorer or has enough quality, some consistency people. Last week some poor bloke got a bashing because he stated Dickov didn't win enough headers, and now 8 out of people are saying he's not good enough I think it a case of maybe he is suitable for the more scrapy games, lower quality, scappy, and not for game when we need that bit of class maybe more of a sub role would be better, I think he only got 1 goal in open play in 13/14 games but that goal and the pens came in the last third of the game
  23. Duff was obvious, just like Shearer and Garner for the front two have no competition
  24. the reason that Thompson was taking the "wrong" option is because I can't remember Dickov, Jay, or any of the midfield even having one decent shot at goal, at least he had a half decent go. This was a typical game that proves when both teams are not playing well an extra bit of quality upfront can make the difference. That's going to be the difference between pushing for the top ten and being stuck near the bottom Thompson was probably the only player today who was likely to show that quality that Defoe and Keane have, and maybe score a 20 yard screamer or goal of high quality.
  25. not much to take out the game other then I remember why I can't stand seeing Nissa at left back, he's slow and just shocking actually Todd was brilliant, really impressed by that performance thought we lacked the quality upfront that Spurs had and that was the difference, obviously so to conclude, probably pick up against Palace but BRING BACK GRAY
