  1. what a load of rubbish As Homer Simpson would say, "you're living a land of make-believe."
  2. well hitting the post is still a miss, we don't see Henry hitting the post and then moaning about luck, he still manages 20-25 goals. Maybe Stead will get it right next season, but he's been very good at missing this season, infact some of his chances its been harder to hit the post then score.
  3. well its doesn't need any work, the last thing we need it a bigger ground, not too many clubs in the PL would say that
  4. not the biggest fan of Dickov, although still think he's done well this season, but in this formation it feels like the forward now does the donkey work for the team, and that any striker unless they are hugely talented like Rooney or Henry, then any player is going to struggle to get more then 10 in a season. So i can't see Dickov or Stead socring too many this season now in the last remaining games, unless we change formation (or get penalties), and there is little chance of that happening because we are doing very well.
  5. interesting rating in the NOTW today. Todd- Never put a foot wrong- Rating 6 Redknapp- had a disappointing game- Rating 6 how do they work that out
  6. great result, thinking of Arsenal already, league is safe now, decent striker next season and it looks like we have all the tools
  7. knowing Dickov slightly well, i think he probably wouldn't dare miss chance for a Scotland cap, he has a very poor record for Scotland and has been sub for probably the last 10 years, so if he gets a start i would guess he would take it. alternatively he will pull out of the squad before they meet up at the request of Blackburn medical staff
  8. This is very true-I think it's just the fact that nobody wants this to happen, and this is why none of us have put him in our team for next season. Hughsey obviously loves the wee man, and if we're all honest he'll probably be in our starting 11 come August. I really hope that this isn't the case, as tcj_jones says it will be a distinct lack of ambition if he is a first 11 player next season. He hasn't been good enough at all of his clubs-bar Leicester so he shouldn't be at us if we want to aim for a top half finish next season. thats not really the case, the reality is Dickov has to lose his place to another player and not be dropped. Why should it be so difficult for Dickov to lose his place, its happen (no disrespect to him) all his career. The problem is the other strikers we have. Lets say we sign Sutton, if he plays with Stead and both score a goal Dickov will lose his place, but Stead goes on another 20 game run without a goal he will lose his place. It all about competition, Dickov has a right to compete for his place, its the job of the other strikers to be better, simple as. As Brownie said we would probably swap Dickov for a striker from most teams but we want Dickov to be competing with top strikers, then if he keeps his place he should only get praise, but if another partnership gells then get on the bench Paul.
  9. Didn't Dickov do the same for Leicester last season? I think Bent and Dickov both got 10 last season in the league for Foxes, and 37 yr old Les Ferdinard got 7 goals or around that, so what excuse do our other strikers have this season. Earnshaw has barely started more then 10-12 games, mainly sub, and didn't play first 2-3 months of the season, so 13 is pretty good.
  10. I think most people need to look at this from a better angle. The question isn't, "whether Dickov is good enough?" The question is, "why is he so much better then the rest?" That's the problem not Dickov, he's been at 6+ club all where is lost his place e.g. Man city Keegan dropped him yet here he is our best striker by "some Distance", so Dickov's not the problem, its getting competition for Dickov thats the problem.
  11. thats a very concerning comment when you think about it, a 70% fit nearly 33yrs old, 10 goal a season striker is our best option by "some distance", that why we need to sign striker badly in the summer. Dickov should at least be competing for his place, but he has no competition and probably why we seem to have become the "dull" team of the season.
  12. the fact that a 70% fit Dickov is our best striker kind of sums up our season, if we did not have such a good defence under Hughes we would have been down by Christmas. I think the league is safe, but nobody wants to see Blackburn on MOTD at the moment, well even less then normal. strikers in the summer please Hughes, but building from the back is the right way.
  13. Agree with that, he's really starting to irritate me. Moan moan bloody moan all the time, can only imagine how annoying it must be for the opposition fans. As soon as I heard the team and that Dickov was the lone frontman I felt negative thoughts flooding into my head. I was really hoping Stead would play from the start, with or without Dickov. look at it this way, he's 33 yrs old this year, it probably his last chance to win anything, he's never made it to a semi final, he's not a great player but at least he's filled a gap this season and we can sort out the strikers in the summer for next season. now don't you feel better
  14. great win, but performances bring down to earth a a bit, thought Dickov look poor on his own, rather wasteful, lucky to take the pen after last miss but decent penalty in the end. we still look solid accross midfield/defence credit to foxes on the tactics
  15. i alway thought Reid could be a class player as I said before the game Sunday. but I also said he deserved to be dropped this season for not being consistent, and he did deserve to be dropped. he played well but needs to maintain a standard now, still young player so lets see. (he's my age)
  16. well if Gally, Jay, Jansen or Stead are better then Dickov then they have to prove it first on the pitch, Dickov is a bit of a solo striker, probably not great to play with, but nobody has been good enough to take his shirt so he deserves it and he's done ok, 8 or 9 goals i think. He's not far off 33 yrs old so I think signings in the summer will hopefully increase competition upfront next season.
  17. christ many good points, Reid in the Centre, thankyou Stead used the quality we need upfront and have missed. and Mokoena not sure about centre back, but he a real Makelele in that position tonight, outstanding really pleased, take that Andy Gray
  18. thats was really boring Savage did well though strikers in the summer please
  19. not his fault he's poor and we bought him hop he has a few good years somewhere else always gave his best, certainly helped us stay up last season at the end, but also glad he has been dropped. good luck to him
  20. he looks a talent that Pedersen, its amazing how one month he's a sub then he's probably our best offensive player. but he's living up to his goal scoring record which is just brilliant for a midfielder. Hopwefully next season with a couple of class stirkers we could do ok with Pedersen and Emerton on the wings.
  21. i wonder what damage we did you Chelsea on Wednesday, I think they would have rather lost and kept Robben injury free then have won. he's their best player in the last third by a mile
  22. not too bad tonight, i was not looking forward to this game, but at least we did a half decent job, (anything least then 2-0 loss) last 6 pens for Dickov thats 3 goals and 3 misses, step up Robbie Savage next time i think. (although strikers need goals for confidence, has a striker scored this year?)
  23. I almost posted that, but then deleted it, as he was better then both of them players, players like Davies, Grabbi, Dailly, they had no reputation to live up too, because they were already crap before hand, Ferguson was good/ ok, but not worth the money, the other were just crap, hard to even watch, actually painful, really really really really painful, and particularly Dailly, if I ever see Hodgson
  24. yes 5 million is good money for a flop, totally overrated player, and no way worth 6.5 million and in no way worth 5 million, if his name was not Barry Ferguson he would be worth about 1.5-2.0 million, but he had a big reputation in his tiny pond up north. strikers in the summer please
