  1. Is there a referee in the house? We could just do with a genuinely qualified ref (any class) to help us with this one; any volunteers?
  2. As a further thought on our last contact Burleyblue, are you SURE you are not a Dingle? Your avatar looks like I imagine a real Dingle would look; a sleazy, evil looking little purple person, just the colour you get when you mix claret and blue on a pallett.
  3. I would agree with you there Theno, but would modify the statement to say they are potentially as good as the SAS, Newell and Gallagher.
  4. Exactly! And did you see the the sycophantic fools on Sky TV this weekend literally drooling over what they were calling "the goal of the season already" I refer to the very good goal scored by Van Persie for Arsenal, but which for me was not as good as Bentley's goal against Salzburg, and this never even got a mention!
  5. My point is that however well you construct your budget there will always be any number of unplanned items popping up, and if you have a large disposable income (then and only then) you will be able to choose whether or not to respond. Others on a low or non-existent disposable income will not have any choice; they will simply be unable to respond. Oh dear! Didn't you budget for that Jan?
  6. And how do you increase your fixed income to do that Jan? When it barely covers life's absolute essentials and does not allow for sudden un forseen increases in things like gas and electricity or mortgage interest rates etc.
  7. This may come as a surprise to you Jan, but there are a significant number of people around to whom an unbudgeted sum of £15 or more coming twice in the same week is a mortal blow. How do I know? I'll leave that one for you to work out.
  8. Could it also be down to the fact that there were only two intervening days for the finances to recover?
  9. Absolutely spot on in all areas Paul!. Regarding the highlighted bit: I reckon this is because in the vast majority of cases it is one of the so-called "big clubs" featuring and not poor little Rovers and the boot-licking grovellers of the media are purely and simply looking at their circulation/viewing figures, which to them is the only consideration.
  10. Oh very good I like that! How many will the rest of them "not score"?
  11. I am starting to get worried now as I have noticed that whenever a majority of posters on here predict a Rovers win that is when they lose. So although I don't actually believe my own prediction and in an attempt to avoid disaster: Rovers 1 - 2 Wigan ..............McCarthy.......Heskey (2) C'mon you predictors of doom where are you? Let's have a bit of support!!
  12. Go on then; I'll play the fall-guy. "I don't know, what time IS it when there is a pie on the clock in Wigan?" Ozzie steps forward.......
  13. Yes, I like it! A sort of Tugs Understudy! Is there nobody on the books at present that could fulfill this requirement?
  14. So I take it that if you lived in another part of the country making it impossible to get to more than a handful of Rovers matches in a season or worse still if you lived abroad, then you would simply not bother with any live matches at all? I am in this invidious position, and have been at several different parts of my working life. I am, and always will be a Rovers fan first and foremost, but I always find another local team to support nearest to where I live at the time. This gives me an interest and makes a small contribution to the upkeep of another (often stuggling) club. I enjoy it, and it does not diminish one iota my love for and support of Rovers which I have supported by season ticket for over 20 of my 60 years as a Rovers fan. If you add together all the sum total of matches that I have missed by living away since 1946 to the present day and subtracting these from the entire 60 seasons that I could and would have stood on Ewood since 1946 it comes to about 250 games missed, Can you say the same! If not then dont you dare criticise me or any others in my position.
  15. Fantastic Bob! Your best yet! I think it is time to give up the day job and apply to the BBC as a direct plug-in replacement for Ronnie Barker Seriously though you have a real talent for comedy; keep it up.
  16. 3. The sun in your eyes.
  17. Well from that statement I can only conclude that the TV technicians must have a recording of crowd noise that they add to the sound track when they think it is necessary!
  18. Sounds like it's time to change your seat. MGP did have a fairly anonymous first half apart from the very good effort on goal he made and was unlucky not to score. The second half he was creating havoc in their defence and had quite a few very good attempts and overall played well.
  19. And presumably a 2 - 2 draw results in extra time and maybe penalties if still same score after that.
  20. Oh yes! That would certainly do it Theno, and they would not bat an eyelid at paying £36 admission. Come to think of it we could probably sell out the ground in S/T's alone. Might even need to build a bigger stadium. Oh and nearly forgot; a fair percentage of the attendees would be able to look forward to taking a starring role at the half time entertainment themselves! Wonderful idea!!
  21. Howdy Oklahoma! Did you get my PM? I sent it last night very late.
  22. "Goodnight children;.............Everywhere!"
  23. Well they start with a bit of a handicap if you compare Salzburg to Blackburn, don't you think?
  24. Dont you think that good passing ability requires good sense then?
  25. We want somebody with a bit more sense I would think!!
