  1. Are you a spy? Walls have ears! However to answer your questions: 1. You tell us yours first. 2. See answer 1. 3. Sparky. 4. Strengths: Too many to mention. Weaknesses: None. 5. Dickov and Kuqi. Are you a 5th columnist? You should be arrested and interrogated for giving vital information to the enemy.
  2. --><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Ste B @ Oct 23 2006, 14:24 ) 454594[/snapback]</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--> I thought you couldnt do the Underground because you are disabled (or is that a lie as well) Brighton to London means you take the tube from Victoria to Euston. To be fair Ste B that would be the norm for the vast majority, but you have to concede there are several other ways of transferring from Victoria to Euston. Taxi, bus, walking?
  3. The only thing Rovers did wrong today was fail to convert any of the very large number of chances they created into a goal or two, or three, or four. Plus they were 2 very poorly struck penalty's. Other than that Rovers played them off the park and also were unlucky that a legitamate goal scored in the first half was hacked back out as soon as it barely crossed the line and this was not noticed by any of the match officials. Yes RTM we are ALL bitterly disapointed, but some of us can keep a sense of proportion. It is only one match we have lost, not a whole series of matches, and the team played well overall. Pull yourself together man!!
  4. And I can double confirm it! I watched the whole game live on Arab TV in a bar in Edinburgh, along with 9 other Rovers fans. The Arab TV ran an instant replay of Rovers goal that wasn't given. This shows in full screen close-up that the ball is right over the line with 2 or 3 inches of grass showing beyond the line and before any part of the ball; i.e. the whole ball is net side of the goal line. However, while this is disapointing from a Rovers point of view, you can't really blame the ref, because a Bolton player hacks the ball out and away in an instant. When you see the whole thing in real time it happens so quickly that the ref could not possibly have had time to notice the ball's position, and no Rovers players made a strong protest so they were not sure about it either.
  5. I would love to maintain my amazing record of never getting a prediction right. So:- Bolton to win!!
  6. To all the Wisla fans: Please dont give up hope; your team did OK and you have got some good players, so you can still qualify by finishing in the top 3. I think your team are quite capable of doing that. Rovers did not play at their usual tempo and so you did not see us at our best; far from it, but I think we did OK as well. I understand your disapointment at the late winner we scored; it happens to us as well and it hurts, but you will get over it. Put it behind you now and concentrate on winning the next match in this group; you can do it!
  7. I have never had a prediction right in my life, so I will just say: Wislaw to win!
  8. To be fair and getting real: Kuqi is NOT a footballer, but having said that if you give him time to settle and don't get on his back he WILL do a job for you. He will score goals - simple as! When Rovers first signed him we were all very surprised that Mark Hughes had seen something in him that Souness obviously did not (he rejected Kuqi after a weeks trial with us). However all but a few of us Rovers fans grew to love the big guy for what he did for us on the pitch and for being such an easy-going and co-operative guy off the pitch. He never moaned about being an almost permanent sub on the bench, and when he did come on he gave the opposition defenders a nightmare, and very often gave us what we needed - a match winning goal. You just have to get used to playing with and fitting in with his limited skills. If you do that he will produce the goods. He can cross accurately and has a reasonable turn of speed down the wings. Defenders bounce off him and he can shoot and head well (sometimes). Again when we signed him there was a mini-invasion of Ipswich fans on this site lamenting his departure, wishing him well, and telling us Rovers fans that we had got the bargain of the century, and how much they would miss his goals for them.
  9. Sorry you don't like the goods; we supplied them in good faith, and we all loved him up here. Mind you, I never really thought he would be able to make the step down to a lower division, he really is a Prem league player! He did very well for us coming off the bench and scoring superb match-winning goals when all else had failed. Just a thought; maybe you are not using him right; he responds to kindness and maybe he is still missing us. Be nice to him and you will see the difference.
  10. Hmmmm! Beter still, maybe Rovers should hire him and put him in charge of the academy.
  11. No, but they would fulfill his bank-balance ambitions, and those of his agent too!
  12. And no rumpy pumpy either!
  13. Good thinking Theno! That should attract at least a couple more Darreners.
  14. You echo my thoughts exactly in your points 4. & 5. Theno. Jeffers played well enough in his last couple of outings, especially against Wigan to show that he is getting there. Obviously he has not managed a goal yet, but the only cure for that problem is more games. He needs an extended run in the side, and with the added motivation of his being an Evertonian at heart, I would have thought he should have figured at some point yesterday. I can't understand why he was not even on the bench. I was again very pleased by the overall team performance, and to come away from Anfield feeling slightly disappointed at not having all 3 points says it all really. Rovers have now become again a very good team, no matter what the media may say about them. Under the MH regime they are just getting better and better. I am not saying we are going to win the title again any time soon, but we certainly are going to give the "big clubs" one hell of a headache. And I feel that we are now capable of going a long way if not ALL the way in the EUAFA Cup.
  15. All I can say is that all those who don't want Burnley in the Prem along with Preston (and us of course) are afraid. Years ago we never used to be, on the contrary we positively drooled over the prospect of meeting and beating our local rivals. Until you have had the experience of traveling (scarf's flying )to Turf Moor for a boxing day match and watching them take the lead and then Rovers coming back to equalise in the second half and finally nicking the winner with 5 mins to go, you have never lived. It makes your Christmas complete; and the extra delights of watching the Dingles throwing their season tickets and scarves on to the pitch and melting away before the final whistle leaving only the Rovers fans singing their heads off. Then after the match the thrill of running the gauntlet as you go back to your car and getting agro or stoned all the way out of Burnley and again as you pass through Accy! Oh, happy days! And most of you lot are afraid of it!! COME ON!!! Are you a man or a mouse?
  16. Sparky has picked the "best" team if they are all on top form, but I very much doubt that the two Aussies will be. However we have to trust Sparky's judgement. I must say I was surprised to see that there was no room on the bench for any of Jeffers, Roberts, Todd, and Gray.
  17. That may be very clever but it is also very inacurate and very unfair. OK he did make a boo-boo for the 2nd goal, but other than that he had a good game, and IMO he was the ONLY England player that you could even think that applies to. As for the rest of them, and even allowing for the formation and tactics being wrong it was still a VERY, VERY poor performance by the all the 10 outfield players. The worst I can remember from any England team ever. And before anyone accuses me of a hysterical over reaction; I have thought long and hard about it before coming on here to say it. I honestly cannot remember any occasion before where the entire England team has played so badly and with such a complete abscence of spirit. You can forgive them for getting beat if at least a few of them show some spirit or give an indication that they at least care, but this.........!! Words fail me.
  18. You've got a very strange sense of humour!
  19. He can get overrated by as many as he likes for me; the more the merrier, because that will help to inflate his value when the time comes.
  20. Oh I bet she will love that!!
  21. Hi Longsider. Welcome back! I think I am in a minority of 1 on here, but I would really love Burnley and Preston to get promoted to the Prem. Then we could have the good old derby matches back again just like it used to be. We should all benefit from improved gates if that happened, but best of all it would be lovely to come to Turf Moor again at Christmas and give the Dingles a right good seeing to! Ahhh! The memories
  22. That's him; David Swift is his proper name but he has always been known as Ernie for reasons that I won't go into just now. Yes he does like the occasional bevvy. I keep intending to come over to the Queens but for various reasons never seem to make it. I sometimes meet up with Ernie in Blackburn at a mutual friend and relatives house. This is when we both pick the same week to go down to watch Rovers.
  23. All fair comment PW. You have obviously not come on to our site to slag us off, but rather to have a sensible discussion about a problem that is becoming serious and affecting all the smaller clubs in the Prem (maybe some of the "big clubs" as well.) I feel that this being a common problem to most clubs, it should be taken up by the official fans representative organisation at each club and put right at the top of the agenda for their next meeting with their clubs. If this does not persuade the clubs themselves to do something about it then we will all have to consider the next steps, but instead of each of us working alone why not try to arrange for a joint meeting of all the fans reps and see what combined action can do?
  24. Sorry I meant to say Queens Arms. Peter (dont know his surname) is the Sherrif at Linlithgow and Ernie is a retired teacher. Both are originally from Blackburn but have lived and worked in Edinburgh and district since their graduation from St. Andrews University in Scottish law. Ernie is a distant relative of mine, and we all went to the same school in Blackburn, St, Mary's College. I used to frequent the Queens Arms myself on a fairly regular basis when my head office was in Edinburgh just off Frederick St. My boss was very fond of a liquid lunch. That was 1982/84 before all the Rovers fans started using it as a meeting place though.
  25. Hmmm.... you'r quite a cheery little fellow aren't you IHB
