Yes Ok it could be Joyce, Moseley had a little 'tash as I remember, but he also had a large scar running back from his mouth as well. -

You just beat me to it with that one Bing; I was just shaping up to say the same on behalf of both players. -

What are you talking about? Nonda has no pace at all; Gally and Jeffers both have him beaten in that dept. Judging by the reaction on here (myself included) it looks as though it already has! Yes, but Mosley was not Haw Haw. That ****hole was William Joyce. -

Absolutely right Jim. There are just too many players with talent or potential in the side at present that are simply NOT DOING IT!!! Having talent or potential is all well and good but you also need a large helping of guts and drive to go with it and in this team at present there are far too many passengers. That is exactly what talented players that don't want to battle it out are. Then we also have a few with limited talent but that will show guts and determination. We have only about 3 on last nights showing that have both talent and the will to battle. For me these were Friedal, Ooijer, and Henchoz. The rest are not worth a mention. Incidentally Jim, isn't that signature photo Oswald Mosely? What is that all about? -

Well he definitely got the "shepherds crook" treatment last night! -

I agree with your summary of every one of the players you mention on last nights performance, with one exception; Emmerton. He played the right wing role OK, beating his man and putting in perfect crosses on at least 3 occasions that I can recall. Two of these were wasted by MGP, and one by Benni, and in each case even I could have scored from them. You are a cheerful *** aren't you? -

What are you talking about? Moyes never played for Everton. He came from Scotland to manage PNE, then on to Everton. -

I know exactly what you mean Theno, but when I think back to the really great AMF's of yesteryear, Finney, Douglas, Crossan, Mooney, Langton........etc,etc; not one of them was over 5' 7" and weighing in the range of 8+ to 9+ stone. Are you saying that they would be no use in today's game? I'll answer my own question in case I don't like the answers I get from others OK, it was a completely different game then in lots of ways. First and foremost the game was about scoring more goals than your opponents, attacking came first, defending a very poor second in the tactics dept. Next there was a lower pace to the game and a lot more skill and creativity both in passing and running with the ball. Any player in those days that was incapable of taking the ball past an opponent by either trickery or pace would never have become a professional footballer at any level. Lastly there was very little cheating and diving (almost unknown), and the standard of reffing was much more balanced and fair, though at the time we did not always appreciate this. There were no big clubs getting favour, because there was no pressure on the ref's from media to make them do it. All in all, a much more enjoyable Saturday afternoon experience. -

Probably better if we make a quick exit. You don't want to be fighting on too many fronts with depleted forces. -
The date on that article says Sept 25, 2005. Over a year ago! What, if anything, has come out of it?
-
Now that IS a sensible suggestion Theno.

Mark Hughes is supposed to be having a meeting with the referees boss at Brockhall sometime soon. Does anybody know when? Also I hope MH is allowed to discuss freely what his concerns are without getting pulled up for his opinions. The ability to show TV clips of the various contentious decisions with a free discussion on each one would also be good, but will it be allowed to happen?
-
It was nothing to do with trust; the reason Mokoena did not stand in for Tugay was because MH wanted to try Bentley in the Tugay role, which he accomplished with fair to middling success. And as for your opinion that Mokoena is no use to the team; I completely disagree. He is very useful playing in front of the back 4 when we really need to defend a lead, and although his passing ability is still not good enough (especially in the creative sense) it HAS improved of late. IMO it will get bettter still if he gets games.

Or in other words: Football matches as they used to be from time imemorial right up to the invention of the Premiership. I know exactly what it feels like both from the experience gained from 1946 onwards at Ewood and several other grounds where I found myself based nearby at different points in my career, and also from recently returning to watching "grass roots" football in Scotland. I can assure you all that it is neither better nor worse than watching Rovers today at Ewood; it is just "different" but equally entertaining and enthralling and costs (for me) MUCH less. I would also add that watching the grass roots football at little clubs like Cowdenbeath (or Accy Stanley), East Fife, etc etc is to me far more entertaining and much preferable to watching any of the worlds "BIG CLUBS" whether in the Prem or in Europe if Rovers are not involved; i.e. if Chelsea were playing Man U. on the telly (or even in my back garden) and Cowdenbeath or East Fife were at home at the same time I would be off to see them everytime. That's just me; the way I am; you lot please yourself.

Sorry theno, but that's far too subtle for me; you are going to have to explain

I have to agree with you there Tchocky. MGP does get a fair bit of undeserved stick on here from some people. Ok, he DOES fade in and out of the game occasionally; but equally you could say that he does provide the occasional goal, and even more assists, to say nothing of his movement both on and off the ball that serves to occupy the opposition defenders and create space or chances for his team mates. And he does this a lot more often than he is given credit for by some on here. It is the same with Gray and until this season was always the same with Emmo. To some people these players just cannot please and never will be able to. It is nothing more or less than pure bias against the player they have a down on, and they are quite incapable of looking dispassionately and objectively at the players performance. I say to these people now: please remove the blinkers and look critically but fairly at these players and don't allow your previous bias to enter into it. Judge them on what you see in front of you at the time and not on previous set ideas. Also please make allowances for the view you get of the play at the time. Perhaps reserve judgment until you have the chance to see an incident that annoys you from a different angle or distance. Then, and only then, make your mind up. -
SG194: If you care to look back at my first paragraph you will see that I started out by saying that nobody outside of the football club really KNEW what happened, or even HOW MANY tickets Rovers were allocated. Yes my figures were speculation and I said as much in my post. However, as any other old timer who was around at the time will surely bear me out, the gist of my post IS in essence what happened at the time. There WAS a huge furore in Blackburn and in the local press that went on for weeks prior to and after the cup final. The whole situation was quite literally the talk of the town, you could not get away from it. And further, the situation and the way the club handled it WAS the one and ONLY cause of so many people who until then had been die-hard supporters turning their backs on the club for, as they saw it, betraying them. The biggest single bone of contention seemed to be the allegation that players and officials at the club had given themselves an extraordinarilly large share of the tickets, and profited by this, with a consequential loss of opportunity to the ordinary fan. THAT is in essence what the row was about, and as I said I was not personally effected by it but several of my family and friends were. I would add that there were quite literally very few families in and around Blackburn that were NOT effected. So you see, that was the cause of it all, and the reaction was very, very bitter and long lasting; life-long in many, many cases. Can you honestly say that if the same scenario were to be repeated these days, you or any of the people on here would not react in a similar manner? Thankfully. I know that is just a hypothetical question as the club is now in far better hands than then (in spite of what Vinjay may think). P.S. Any other doubters among you that care to make the effort should be able to find ample evidence of what I say by trawling the archives of the Blackburn Times and the Lancashire Evening Telegraph for April/May 1960.

Well here I go again sticking my neck out for it to get chopped off, but every time I think of Kuqi and recall some of the incidents and goals for us I get all nostalgic. I actually miss the guy. And, further to this, I get the same effect when I think of Amorouso. I am fully aware of these two players limitations but I absolutely respect them both for their attitudes and for just plain being very nice likeable guys. Now I am waiting for the massive assault and accusations to come piling in. Tin hat at the ready.
