Well I reckon that is just about the best fotball fans song I have ever heard; fantastic! Should be just right for the drummer to play along with and the BBE to belt out. Just needs adapting with some suitable words for Rovers. Anyone? P.S. As I sit here reading the rest of the posts on here, I am whistling this great little tune at full belt. The wife has just shouted from the next room for me to can it ( or words to that effect). -

So Theno, are you advocating the Lancashire Utd scene in the hope that some billionaire or consortium will see it as a good investment, or are you genuinely looking at it as a solution to the present woes of all true football supporters in the area? I am prepared to predict that before very long (say within 10 years) unless there is a complete reversal of the present trends in football the last remaining TRUE football fans will have settled for happy memories of the way things used to be and found something else to do. Personally I would honestly rather see Rovers and all the existing Lancashire clubs playing each other in the Conference than continue as things are. At least we that still supported our teams would then see genuine football (albeit at a lower technical standard) played by mainly local lads that loved the game, instead of hugely overpaid and largely disinterested foreigners, diving and cheating all the time. P.S. I do NOT mean to imply that English players don't cheat as well. I believe the WORST offenders do tend to be from mediteranean and East European countries, but mainly that Big Money is the REAL cause of it all. -

SG194: The 3 questions I posed have to be asked and answered by the appropriate people on 1st Jan 2007. Only at that time are the answers relevant. And neither you nor I nor any of us on this site are the appropriate people. -

I accept that you may not be Vinjay, but you sure as hell sound like him! If you live locally give them your support instead of knocking them. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day. I just wish I lived within 50 miles of Blackburn; I would be getting stuck-in to this BRISA meetings thing, and I would also once again become a S/T holder. -

Well having looked at my DVD recording of the match and played the two penalty incidents over and over again, I am forced to conclude as a lot have aready done that technically (and that is all it was) Tugay did appear to catch the guy's foot as he was lying on the deck, Should that be a penalty? I would not have given it if I had been reffing, (discretion in interpretation of the rule) but then there is the question of the Spuds player making an absolute meal of it and rolling over about 2 or 3 times. An obvious case of simulation if ever there was one, and should have been treated as such by any fair minded official. For me taking all in all ... no penalty, and a serious talking to for the Spuds player; no need to consult the assistant at all. As for the question of Mido's hand ball in the area, the replay shows he does move his arm towards the ball and make slight contact and it also shows the flight of the ball is changed as a result. That one is a stone-wall penalty because it MUST have been deliberate. Contrast that with the one given against us in the Villa game when the ball allegedly struck Ooijer high on the arm, but the replay shows it hitting him (with no movement on his part towards the ball) on the area high up on his chest but including part of his shoulder. And in that case the ball was driven at Ooijer so that he had no possibility of avoiding it. How could that one be a penalty, and the Mido one not be? These are questions that Blackburn Rovers FC should be officially asking of the F.A. and insisting on a proper and open enquiry into ALL the penalty decisions that have caused controversy this season. Yes, including the ones where we know we were in the wrong i.e. McCarthy's dive at Sheffield Utd. And while we are at it I think this would be a time to invite ALL the clubs that feel aggrieved at penalty decisions this year to join forces and put THEIR grievances forward to the F.A. and let's get this refereeing question brought right to the top of the agenda. It NEEDS to be sorted out for everybodies sake, including the officials themselves. -

--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Ste B @ Nov 18 2006, 11:27 ) 460854[/snapback]</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--> Vinjay has followed up with the following Well I am no phsycologist but I would say that this person is definitely suffering from some form of mental illness; an obsessive disorder of some kind. That however does not mean that he cannot be right in anything he says; I happen to think he does make SOME good points. The problem for me lies in his dismissive attitude towards other Rovers fans and his assumption that we all think and act alike. How wrong can you get!!? I honestly believe that it would not be in the best interests of anybody to allow Vinjay a return to this site as it it would only cause more controversy and anger, and would not help Vinjay in the way that he needs helping, although in his present state I doubt he would agree. -

Ricky: Please don't despair. I am absolutely serious when I say that I really do appreciate the work done by all the admin and mods people. I know it must sometimes feel like a thankless task having to deal with the rants and raves of right-wing loonies, left-wing loonies, PC loonies, financial loonies, porno loonies, and silly old loonies (me). But it if it any consolation, I am certain that I am not alone in saying we we would all be very much the poorer if you guys did not give your time to this sometimes thankless task. And I for one would miss it terribly if the worst happened and this site were to fold for any reason. Thanks again to you and all the other officers of the site. -

Well that really is a coincidence USABlue. I am having exactly the same problems just as you have described. I have very recently signed up for RW on a 2 month trial, and I am getting the same symptoms as yourself. I had just about decided to terminate my subscription at the end of the trial period. But after seeing your post I am not sure. The computer spec you quote is virtually identical to mine in every respect, and I too have very recently downloaded and installed IE7. I immediately found that the computer as a whole slowed down to a ludicrous extent, and I used Norton Go-Back v4 to reverse the procedure. This seemed to cure the problem for a time but now I am finding that the slow operation comes and goes with no apparent pattern that I can find as yet. When the fault does occur it causes the computer to run very very slowly in every application and on the internet too. Even the DVD replay of my recorded Rovers matches are unwatchable and the sound is like a tape recorder running at half speed. All since I installed IE7. Has anyone else had this problem? -

What has that got to do with anything? The only things that have any relevance are: 1) Is he good enough for the intended role? 2) Is he fit enough? 3) Is his attitude right? -

Pleasure, are you sure you're a journalist? -
There are several teams of players to be found any weekend down Pleasington, and the vast majority if not all in some cases are born and bred in Blackburn. Does anyone seriously think that they should get any kind of preference from Blackburn Rovers scouts over lads from elsewhere simply because they are local lads? Get real! I simply want the best possible team that Rovers can produce and I dont give a fig for where on this planet they come from. I do however expect and demand that they are fit and healthy and put in 100% effort in every game they play. So that lets Dunny out right away!

I thought Ooijer had a decent game tonight for Holland. He did OK all night until they subbed him off for a striker to try to get the winner in the last few mins.

But don't forget to reserve your place on the upper deck lee side rail. You may need it! Oh, and also remember that as the ship changes direction the lee side can suddenly become the windward side; you won't like that! -
If we sold every player that Theno says is not good enough we would have none left!

What's this? A Left-Winger liking a business man! That CANT be right. It looks like the main reason for getting rid in a hurry was so they would not get dragged into the court case and possibly have to compensate Palace. -
Exactly right; they're bloody dangerous!!

Are we so well blessed with players that have vision and passing ability that we can choose to ignore one because of his other "perceived weaknesses"? Gally is also a very good crosser of a ball and has been known to move himself fast enough to score one or two from loose play in the 6 yd area; rather like Benni in that respect! As others have said before me, he does also seem to have a "geeing up" effect on the whole team when he comes on from the bench. Taken all together, and making allowance for his weaknesses as well (which of course other regular players in the side don't have ) I think the lad deserves better treatment than he has had so far. Just my opnion of course!

You are so right Mum! Sad is exactly what it is. We wont bother going into the causes of this particular form of ignorance; it would take far too long and does not belong on this thread anyway. -
I thought this thread was to discuss Gally. Instead it seems to be the Mokoena, Douglas, Danns and RTM thread, with a very small percentage of Gally thrown in when people who want to talk about Gally can get a word in. Anyway here goes: On the few occasions that Gally has managed to get on the pitch so far this season; has he let the side down in any way? IMO the very opposite applies; he has done well in the extremely limited time he has had. What more can the lad do? I say give him a chance. Then we will all be able to form a proper opinion of him.

Your statement (in bold) may have been meant in jest, but it is in fact true. The officials given the present rules and operating conditions can only do their level best. They are always going to make errors both large and small, and the only way to improve this situation is to allow video evidence to settle all controversial decisions. Notice I said "improve"; you are unlikely to ever fully cure the problem by any means known to mankind. Human error and other frailties will always apply.
