Surprised that nobody else has pointed out the two or three good runs up the right wing made by Bert today and the very good crosses he put into the box at the end of them. Also the fact that after cutting inside from the edge of their box he cracked a good rising shot in which just cleared the bar. Could have been a brill goal! -

I think a lot of you are being downright unfair in your condemnation of Ooijer after just one game. OK he did have a bit of a 'mare. But as others have said he was thrown in against the mighty Chelsea without having had more than one day to train with his new team mates; maybe not even that. He did not look too bad to me. As for the penalty; yes technically it was a foul inside the box and the ref having seen it clearly had no alternative. But when you look at the replays a couple of times as Andy Gray did and think about it you can see clearly that Terry makes no attempt whatever to pull away and just collapses to ground like he's been thrown down, when the replay shows that Ooijer is not applying any force at all. You can actually see the daylight between his arms and Terry's body. Terry is a cheating scumbag like so many of his team mates. It is obvious that this conning of ref's is a standard Chelsea tactic. I think that once Ooijer has settled in to our way of playing and the pace of the Prem he will be a lot better. At least give him a chance before you write him off. -
I think it means"She said as she was speaking with her" But then again........?

Tesco and Asda would be open 25 hrs/day 366 days a year if they could, so that is hardly a fair comparison. -

Aye, it likely will be if we are playing both of them in the same match! -

RFW's clear demonstration that he controls the length of the match,as some so&so in a red shirt scores the winner in the 5th minute of stoppage time after the 4th official had indicated 4min. Then 10 secs after the goal the final whistle. I wonder if MH will inherit this power when he becomes manager at O.T.? -
There must be one hell of a wind blowing permanently East to West!

On the growing evidence there is no doubt at all that this Thatcher should be investigated by the police and dealt with as a suspected criminal. This is nothing to do with football it is a case of suspected GBH. 10 - 15 years in jail would be more appropriate!

You forgot to mention Celtic!!

Why are you afraid of Hearts? Is it because of something I said earlier?

Hope it is Edinburgh. 20 mins on the train for me. Plus if any of you guys coming up would like to meet up with the Edinburgh Rovers contingent' most of them meet regularly in the Queens Arms in Frederick Street (runs at 90 deg to Princes St). A word of warning; Dont assume that Hearts will be a push-over. They have some very good players, plus the very fact that they are playing an English team is enough to fire up every Scot in the team and the supporters as well. I kid you not, you have to see it to believe it. To all of them this would be a re-run of Bannockburn!! When they refer to England as the "Auld Enemy" they MEAN IT!! And I am being deadly serious

Totally agree with what you say cgbdon. Neil is undoubtedly a very good and versatile player, but he does have these unfortunate tendencies to go flying in and get himself sent off. It happens too often IMO and Rovers reputation is suffering because of the actions of three players mainly; one of these being Neil. If any team wants him and is prepared to pay a fee in excess of £2m I say let him go. -

Well judging by the great disparity amongst the posts on here we all see the game completely differently. I only have the DVD of the Footie First version to go by, but I find your version Robertson to coincide almost exactly with my own. I would just like to make a few observations that nobody else seems to have elaborated on. Firstly I feel that though this game was a huge improvement on the performance at Pompey, I still got the feeling throughout the game that Rovers were not playing with the same high tempo short passing style that made them so effective last season. It is as though they have lost confidence somehow and this seems to stem from a lack of confidence in defence and lack of creativity in midfield. Bert had a very good game, much more effective as RB, whilst Gray apart from a few lapses did fairly well. Zurab also played well, but for me Todd is struggling for pace and keeps making rash tackles and pushes on people, which a lot of refs would have been much harder on than Mr. Rennie was. Bentley had a good game for the most part and I was surprised and disappointed when he was subbed. Nobody has mentioned so far the brilliant backheel pass that gave Benni his goal. And he was certainly quite effective as an AMF especially in the first half. The two subs we made did not contribute anything of any note, whilst the two that Everton made were the turning point for them, and made them much more effective in the attacking sense. Our two had the opposite effect. Everton should have had two penalties. The first was when Reid pushed Johnson to the ground, and the second when Brad pulled the boy back as he was about to roll the ball into the net just seconds before they scored anyway. But overall a much improved show, although I am dreading the Chelski game. Todd must not play in that one and unless Gamst wakes himself up, he should not play either. Let Peter have a game. -
Aye, and 6 months in jail as well!

Judging soley on his performances this season so far; yes that is exactly what he has done. There is no way he should be risked against Chelski. Get Ooijer in with Zura. OOyer and Zura! -

And to think all this started off as a nice sensible discussion about what a load of cobblers Rovers were at Pompey. Where did it all go wrong? Thanks to all for your support. Perhaps if we all say no more on the subject, whatever the provocation, things might calm down and return to normality again. One can only hope! EDIT: Seems all the mods are away on holiday. -

Sadly, I can see some "Who are ya" type chants Well on sky TV they keep pronouncing it "OO Yer" which I find quite amusing as in Scotland that is something you hear virtually every day when somebody does themselves an injury such as dropping a Blacksmith's Anvil on their foot etc. -
