  1. Or could it just be that we don't want to upset Benni?
  2. I don't dispute your figures CLB. My reply to Pleasure was a spur of the moment effort without resort to actual records from books etc, and was just based on my own memories and impressions from actual attendance at most of Rovers home games from the first season after WW2 onwards. Obviously the figures I gave were estimates and only meant to show Pleasure that he was wrong to state that Rovers have never had big crowds. I have very often gone staight from my work on Saturday mornings to Ewood because if you did not get there by about 1-30 for a 3pm K.O. you risked not being able to see properly on the BBE. And it was a standing joke among Rovers fans that once you got a place where you could see clearly, you did not move from it under any circumstances. Which meant that you could not go to the toilets and so had to use the pocket of the guy in front of you and hope he was an away fan.
  3. Now you really are talking crap. 56,000 on a Monday night match against Burnley in 1960! Average home gate during the 40's and 50's well over 30,000 often in the 40k's and occasionally over 50k. Where are they now? See the debate above and also refer to my many posts on this subject over the last 3 years. Now at last a few others have awakened and joined in with my complaints and condemnation of the exploitation of the true fan!
  4. C'mon now Cloggy, don't get upset. We are mostly a friendly bunch on here. There are a few who occasionally get stroppy or beligerent but we soon cool them down with a nice ice cold bucket of sarcasm. The vast majority are OK. Keep posting, you are very welcome.
  5. Why not pin this question of Drummers or Not as a poll and let's all vote on it with 4 options: 1) Leave as is. 2) Move to another location and nominate. 3) Remove altogether. 4) Not bothered. Some may want to add a 5th option: Shoot them! I am not one of these
  6. Yes, another Henrik Larson!
  7. If you think it's bad over there Speeeeedie, you should try living in Scotland!
  8. Just one small correction RG; Lee Makel left Dunfermline to join Livingston in the close season. Also does anyone know where Mark Paterson is these days?
  9. Still got a lot of leeway to make up before it gets anywhere near the farce that is the Scottish Parliament Building. Design estimated cost £40m; finished cost over £400m!! Then this year the roof fell in and the place has been closed pending safety inspections and re-building. We, the Scottish tax-payers are having to foot the bill for this world-class example of criminal incompetence and still nobody has been charged or accepted responsibility!! In comparison with this the Wembley situation is just a minor hickup!
  10. South-West Stand, row A, seat 11. Perfect view of the entire pitch and no obstructions. Also can clearly hear the comments from both technical areas; makes interesting listening!
  11. What's the point in asking that at this stage? The season hasn't even started yet! Give the lad a chance!!
  12. You're right there Al; at least as far as the "best keeper" I have seen in Rovers team. BUT I would still seriously nominate Harry Leyland as the "Rovers Fans Favorite Keeper" in all the 60 years I have supported the team. He really was popular and could be absolutely relied on to provide a mixture of incredible saves and heart stopping blunders in virtually every game he played. What a character!
  13. Between Harry leyland and Roger Jones! (just joking)
  14. Thank you herbergeehh for your "translation" and for taking the trouble to do it. I am most impressed by your patience, and at the same time ashamed by my own stupidity at not being able to see that. I must be losing it completely!
  15. Well obviously you have understood that waffle Herbergeehh. Would you care to translate it into English for the rest of us please?
  16. To which all I can say is: Thank God he failed to show up for the Rovers Manager job he was supposed to be taking after Ray Harford's departure!
  17. Oh wouldn't it be lovely to "steal" JFH from right under the nose of "big club"; just as he is about to sign on the dotted line!!
  18. Let's just hope France wins it then, or there will be no bargain sales for the rest of us!
  19. Fair enough, but would MH sooner be at Lancaster Gate than OT?
  20. "Our man"! I hope you are not referring to Mark Hughes! NO WAY!!!!
  21. You need sacking! You too!
  22. Great stuff Colin! I agree with most of that. The only difference being that I would rate Mickey as a 4/5 useful left-back.
