  1. You shouldn't be dejected; you played some great, lovely fluid football tonight. I think you'll have a good season with JDT steering.
  2. Mathematically you can reach the automatic promotion places; so don't rule yourselves out for the play-offs with so much to play for, not to mention the return of your hotshots.
  3. Seriously Matty, what size bracket would you put your club into these days? The way I see it is you have the giants like Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal etc, and then you have the big clubs like Birmingham City, West Brom, Southampton, Sunderland etc. Then you have medium clubs like Burnley, Ipswich, Hull etc. Then you have small clubs like blackburn, Wigan, Barnsley etc. Small than that you're into the 'minnows' like Rochdale, Accrington, Blackpool etc.
  4. PNE have a Norwegian branch supporters club too. Can I ask Alex if it is common place for Norwegian football fans to adopt small English clubs like rovers and PNE?
  5. Horrible, sickening behaviour. Hope he makes a full recovery.
  6. No no no. That's not the reason. The reason is because your club suddenly had fans from all over the north, even in towns that had their own professional club, like Preston for instance. These new supporters; many new to live football thanks to the marketing of Sky (a whole new ball game), suddenly had a club localish to them that were dining at the top table and easily accessible. These new supporters were the ones branded 'plastic' by PNE fans. It was fairly easy to determine whether or not the wearer of your replica kit was a 'plastic' or not upon meeting them: and that was to ask if they knew what a Perspex top was. Incidentally, do any of the other local clubs call you the Plastics? Nice to be back by the way. T
  7. I'm one of them! i support PNE first and foremost; and whoever is playing you, on a weekly basis.
  8. Euphoria? This isn't ten years ago, you know? Burnley is the cock of Lancashire, and Rovers were in the third tier a year ago. Unimaginable ten years back.
  9. A perfectly tied fly, I would say. Got two on one cast.
  10. Lol, I predicted we would have a good season, but it's way too early to get excited yet. It would be good for the city if its football club sampled top tier football again, but as a small club we can't complain with top 10 in the second tier. I think it great small clubs from non league earning their way into the football league and doing well.
  11. I think the Championship's Preston North End are the Grim Reaper of football managers.
  12. It's much much better nowadays; it's got a good PvE aspect to it with not only the infected after you, but also packs of wolves. Atmospherics are fantastic, and if you like to immerse yourself, you'll definitely like what they've done. FPS is much improved too, although the latest patch has made it stutter in towns, it's still many times smoother than it was years back. Shooting is still a grind, unlike in Arma where you could headshot at a click away with ease, but then that's the idea in making it truly hardcore survival. Give it another try and let me know what you think.
  13. Used to love playing Kick Off 2: damn we used to have tournies in a mate's flat, which were good fun. Sensible Soccer was nice and fluid, but lacked something Kick Off 2 had; or maybe it was halcyon bias. Anyone of you lot play DayZ? Decent zombie survival game which is hard work and a bit of a grind. If you like the 'jingle jangle jewellery' of COD or Battlefield, then it's not for you. If you like hardcore and time intensive, then you'll love it....until you die and lose all your gear you've scavenged.
  14. Can't believe non of you hoped for a money-spinning, local derby draw, against Accy Stanley.
  15. Briggers are like that on any warm sunny weekend day. United v Liverpool on TV on a warm sunny day = same trouble.
  16. Have you seen Wigan's run in? It's a bridge too far if ever I saw one. I honestly think Blackburn will scrape through by overcoming the other two strugglers in NFFC & Bristol.
  17. OPinion on what? The muttered rumour of a PNE v Rovers friendly, or the Brig burial being cancelled. Oh and don't be cheaky you.
  18. Some North End fans are glad about this as they believe Rovers should have no business in this area, though the fact this tradition goes back a while suggests the peripheries of south Preston have had traitoress types residing for some time.
  19. Nutty Black is good, but prefer Wainwrights, just a shame who makes it. P.S PB,are you on Deepdale Tuesday?
  20. Lol, if your seafaring little men look like that Abs, I suggest getting down the clinic.
  21. Nail on the head Gordon. It's the 'no nonsense' that made their produce so good. Most chippies sell a whole range of stuff like sausages, spam fritters etc, and they cook this stuff in the same fryers as the chips. This practice taints the oil with animal fats that are really quite disgusting. On top of that, they often go for the cheapest stuff to maximise their profits...have you ever tasted economy burgers? Disgusting things. Claccy chippy, if I remember rightly (it's been at least ten years since I dined there), sold chips, fish and peas, and I think gravy, but no curry. One fryer for fish, t'other for chips. Simple science. The cleanliness of the place too gave punters a sense of confidence about eating there. The staff wore hats and rightly so.
  22. Never tried it as it sells Hollands Pies. If a chippy's standards for pies are so low they opt to stock Hollands, then I'm not going to entertain the rest of their produce. Best chippy I've ever been to is/was the one in Clayton St in Gt Harwood. Crinkle cut, big clean chips.
  23. Quite an interesting discussion this. I'm not sure Gordon's demographic point is the sole factor to why Blackburn's night time economy has dwindled, but I suspect it does play a small part. I'm not familiar with Blackburn's central geographical layout, but I would find it hard to believe that a physical divide would be detrimental to the town's nightlife. Preston's night time economy is played out in two areas, Friargate & Church St/Fishergate, yet many people walk or catch a cab to and fro the two halves of the city. As for the OP, enjoy your night out.
